Bob Nixon has hung on to his five points lead at the top of the Olton Double Top League with a 2-1 win against Ian Spencer and a 3-0 success over Wayne Mathews. Second place Tony Randell had similar win, a 3-0 straight legs win against Simon Edwards and a 2-1 win in his game with Dave Duncan. Andy Hutchings edged a little closer to the leading duo with two 3-0 wins against Ralph Nunn and Dave Duncan.

At the other end of the table its congratulations to Tim Lowe, who after twenty games chalked up his first win of the season a 2-1 unexpected victory over Jim Norris who is riding high in eleventh place.

It’s as you were at the top of division one in the Harborne and District Summer League as all of the top three teams won. Leaders Smethwick Labour Club maintained their two points advantage with a 6-3 home win over the Bell Inn whose T.Brennan and K.Bambrick both notched a maximum. Second placed Midland Red also kept their two points lead over third place Hillyfields ’A’ when they beat the Pheasant 6-3, while Hillyfields won 7-2 at Quinborne.

In division two top team Old Crown did not play and Hillyfields ’B’ lost the opportunity to overtake Bartley Green F.C. and move into second place when they lost 5-4 at home to Bartley. Bartley Green F.C. are now two points behind Old Crown.

There was a top of the table clash in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League, third placed Brook Meadow playing hosts to second in the table Olton RBL. The result was a resounding 6-2 win for the home team which has seen them move up into joint top with Saltley amateur Gardeners who beat Banbury Club 5-3. The two teams are now level on games played, points and average, Olton RBL are two points adrift.

Lea Hall Sports and Social moved off the bottom of group three with a fine 6-2 win at Pavilions, Vaughans have dropped to the foot of the table after their 6-2 defeat at the Clock.

In group six the top two teams played each other. Home team Highwood ‘B’ took on Custard House and stretched their unbeaten run to seven games with a convincing 7-1 victory, extending their lead over their rivals to five points.

The Pip Club League have been busy with their second division Divisional Cup. Round one saw Red Lion, Three Horse Shoes and Two Gates Club in turn defeat North Warwick Cricket Club, Wigginton and Kettlebrook Club. In the second round Winning Post beat Red Lion and Three Horse Shoes took out Two Gates Club. The two winners will now meet in the final on the 2nd October.

The Sports Argus Charity Darts team are presenting the Birmingham Open Darts Championship on Sunday 28th September at Olton RBL, Masons Way, off Warwick Road, Olton, Solihull, B92 7JE, with a £300 first prize.
