Warwickshire ended their season in division one of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships with an away game against County Durham. By their own standards the season fell below their expectations however their final game, despite losing 19-17 was not a bad result as their opponents were chasing possible promotion and actually finished their campaign in third place.

The ’B’ games saw the ladies win 4-2 with Denise Burke (16.86) taking the match award and the men go down 7-5, Mark Carter (28.48) winning their award. In the ’A’ games Trina Gulliver (23.28) was yet again the lady of the match as the team lost 4-2, while the men’s ’A’ finished all square with Tony Brown their top player with a 27.83 average.

In division two it was a fantastic finish for the West Midlands who beat fellow promotion rivals Norfolk 20-16 to clinch promotion to division one. Both men’s teams won 7-5 with Jamie Hughes (31.31) and Mark Lloyd (28.90) taking the respective ‘A’ and ‘B’ awards.

The ladies games ended all square at six each the ladies of the match being for the ’A’ Leanne Jennings (22.54) and the ’B’ Claire Ford (17.68).

With only two fixtures remaining in the Brook Meadow Individual Double Top League it is going to be a nail biting finish. Just eight points is the difference between the top three players, Trevor Frost top on 136 points, Jason Evans second with 129 and Ross Macken third on 128.

Only Frost won his two games in week 17 beating both John Masefield and Adam Gallet 3-0, while Evans lost 3-0 to Ian McFarlane and the went down 2-1 to Mathew Gallett. Macken recorded a 2-1 win over Tony Comerford and then had the result reversed in his tie with Mark Birch.

As the Sheldon and District Winter League fast comes to an end only two points separate the top three teams in the premier division. Last seasons champions Olton RBL are currently second on the same 34 points as third placed Shard End RBL ’B’, while Saltley Amateur Gardeners, who finished last season as runners up are in pole position on 36 points.

RAFA are leading the field in division one with 29 points, but again they only have a two points advantage over their nearest rivals Pavilions. The division two title is being hotly contested by three teams, Farringdon Flights are currently top with 32 points from 20 games, Kingshurst Labour Club are second, level on points with Farringdon with a game in hand and Willclare Sports and Social third having played 19 games with 30 points.

The Small Heath League has had the Delegates Knockout on the fixture card. Playing in three groups the winners were, Group One, Peter Yardley (Emerald Club), Group Two, John Frost (Mitre), Group Three, Chris Stokes (Victoria 301 Club).

The Ladies Singles Knockout was won by Potcheen Still representative Jean Forde who beat team mate Gloria Lightwood in the final.

The top three teams in division one of the Pip Club League all finished with 4-4 draws this week. Leaders Globe played second placed Belgrave Club, both teams are now level on 6 points with Globe just having the edge on average. Third placed Sports Bar Club had a home draw with the Dolphin, they together with Glascote Club are one point behind the leading duo.

In the second division just one leg of average separates Kettlebrook Club and Winning Post after in turn they both won 5-3 against Red Lion and Three Horse Shoes.
