The semi finals of the Ken Rust Cup were on the fixture card for the Four Oaks and District League, the first of which saw Hill Social somewhat flattered by the 9-0 scoreline they recorded against Red Lion Arrows. The second of the semi’s was also a high margin win with Boldmere Sports gaining a comfortable 8- 1success over Hardy Spicer.

The Sheldon and District Winter League had the quarter finals of their Sheldon Shield on their agenda, the biggest win being provided by Olton RBL as they beat Mackadown Social 7-2. The remaining three games all finished with 6-3 results, there were wins for Shard End RBL ‘B’, Shard End Social an Lea Hall Nomads, who in turn defeated Hen and Chickens, Shard End RBL ‘A’ and Glebe Community Association.

Two leading contenders for the Brook Meadow Individual Double Top League title faced up to each other this week, reigning champion and current leader Trevor Frost taking on Ross Macken. The result was close as would be expected and going in favour of Macken to give him a total of 113 points and leaving him just four points adrift of Frost with the advantage of a game in hand which could see him take over pole position. Macken’s fixture against Ian McFarlane was a real high scoring affair Macken hitting 3×100 and two maximums and McFarlane 3×100,140,136,125 and 114.

Another player still well in the title race is third placed Jason Evans. Evans has 112 points but has only played 28 games, two less than Frost and one in hand on Macken.

The Pip Club League has got their new campaign underway and in the curtain raiser only two of the eight teams in division one recorded wins. Early leaders Queens Head had a 7-1 win at last season’s runners up Dolphin and Sports Bar Club won 6-2 at the Bull (Polesworth).

In the second division all four games finished with 5-3 scorelines. In turn Wigginton, Winning Post, North Warwick Cricket Club and Kettlebrook Club beat Two Gates Club, Red Lion, Royal Oak and Three Horse Shoes.

Smethwick Labour Club completed their fixtures in division one of the Harborne and District Winter League with a close 5-4 win at Quinton Members Club to secure the runners up spot behind the Pheasant who were four points ahead of Smethwick. Woodpecker have won the division two title with 22 points, Quinborne finished second with four points fewer.

In the League Cup there were 5-4 wins for Pheasant and Quinton Members Club against Midland Red and Bartley Green F.C., while in the Plate Quinborne beat Hillyfields 6-3 and Stonehouse with a 5-4 margin took out Pheasant Flights.
