The first matches of the second half of the Four Oaks and District League produced a shock result in division one when bottom of the table Old Oscott Arrows recorded their first win of the campaign and it came against high riding Boot Flights. Formerly third in the table, the 5-4 reversal has seen Boot now drop to fourth behind Hill Social who got revenge on Red Lion Flights for their first half defeat by beating them 5-4.
Top division two team Anvil Nomads also suffered a setback as they lost to Old Oscott WMC, who prior to the match were ten points adrift of their opponents. Cross Keys PPA were lucky in their 5-4 win at Oscott Social, the vital winning leg coming in the very last leg of the final game.
Just one maximum scored this week and that was supplied by K.Lambeth from division one team Deer’s Leap.

The first round of the Division Cup was on the cards for the Harborne and District Winter League. All seven games went basically to plan with no major shocks. Biggest winners were division one teams Avenue Social ’B’ and Midland Red who in turn beat Pheasant Flights (Div 2) and Stonehouse (Div 1) 9-0.
Other teams to progress to the next round were, Bartley Green F.C, Woodpecker, Quinton Members Club, Pheasant and Smethwick Labour Club.
It was not a good time over Christmas for the league as two of their long serving members sadly passed away, Bill Honer (Stonehouse) and Tony Clewley (New Inns). The officials and players of the league would like to pass on their sincere condolences to family and friends of both of the deceased.
