Saltley Amateur Gardeners received have been dislodged from pole position in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League by Olton RBL. Saltley playing at home against seventh in the table Sheldon Dukes were expected to consolidate their number one spot with a win, but it was not to be as Sheldon Dukes chalked a close but deciding 5-4 victory. Olton RBL also had a home tie but they made sure of the points in the best possible way by handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their opponents Shard End Social to go two points ahead of Saltley and Shard End RBL ’B’.
In division one again the top two teams have reversed their positions. Former leaders RAFA won 5-4 at home to Vaughans while Pavilions won their away game against Iron Horse 7-2 to give them the same 14 points as RAFA with one leg of average more to give the number one spot.
Glebe Community Association have lost the leadership in division two after going down 6-3 at Farringdon Flights. New leaders are Willclare Sports and Social who beat bottom of the division Bordesley Labour Club 9-0, giving them a two points advantage over both Glebe and Kingshurst Labour Club who won 6-3 at the Custard House.
Highest score of 180 went this week to P.Goldie (Old Bill and Bull) with P.Moran (Mackadown Social) recording the highest break of 160.

The Small Heath League have been engaged in their Christmas Darts Cricket Knockout Competition. Taking the honours were “Nigel Nuts”, a team consisting of John McCaffrey, Nigel Ricketts (Potcheen Still), Peter Yardley (Emerald Club) and Rob McConnell from the Mitre. Runners up were “The Villens” team of Eddie Hackett, John Frost (Mitre), Neil Parsonage (Emerald Club) and Paul Wilding (Victoria Flights). Beaten semi finalists were “Charlie’s Angels” (Danny Mooney snr, Kevin Mills, The Victoria, Bob Cornish, Brendan Lysaght, Mitre), and “Young One’s” (Daniel Robinson, Wagon and Horses, Ian McClean, Custard House, John Franklin, Emerald Club, Tony Owens, Victoria Flights).

A top prize of a guaranteed £500 is on offer at the Tipton Sports and Social Club, Sedgley Road East, Coneygree, Tipton, DY4 8XA this coming Saturday. In addition to the top prize all entry fees will be paid out to the runner up down to the eighth place and there is £40 going to the last remaining lady in the competition.
