Shard End RBL ‘B’ lost ground in the premier division title race in the Sheldon and District WInter League this week as they lost 5-4 at home to fellow contenders Olton RBL. Shard End ‘B’ have now dropped to third place behind Olton with Saltley Amateur Gardeners top, all three teams have 16 points Saltley having the better average after a 7-2 win at Stechford Social. At the other end of the table it’s congratulations to bottom team Shard End Social who after losing the opening eight games recorded their first win of the season, a 6-3 victory at Brook Meadow.
It’s very, very close in division one with five of the eleven teams locked together on 12 points at the top of the table. RAFA are current leaders however, third placed Hobs Meadow have a game in hand on the other four teams. Glebe Community Association head the second division after beating former leaders Willclare Sports and Social 5-4, both teams have 16 points with Glebe one leg of average to the good.
Tomorrow night the league will be staging their League Cup quarter finals.

The new Brook Meadow Individual League will be getting underway on the 8th January, but it is still not too late to book your place in what is the regions top individual league carrying a guaranteed first prize of £300.

The Four Oaks and District League have been involved in their Dereck Masters Individual Trophy sponsored by Central Container Services. Two venues were used to bring the competition down to the final two players. At Aston Social the first semi final saw A.Stainfield (Sportsmans Rest) beat J.Kavanagh (Midland Red 180) 2-0 and in the other game M.Harris (Midland Red) beat D.Wallace (Boot Flights) again in two straight legs. The final was a close affair with M.Harris just getting the 2-1 edge.
In the games at the Red Lion R.Hawker (Midland Red) took the honours to set up an all Midland Red final against M.Harris. Hawker pipped S.Paling (Anvil Nomads) 2-1 after beating M.Sheppard (Cross Keys PPA) 2-0 in the semi’s. The other losing semi finalist was J.Morris snr (Sportsmans Rest).

Winning Post won their last game of the season against Red Lion (Polesworth) 7-1 in division two of the Pip Club League to finish third in the table on 13 points, seven adrift of divisional winners Wiggy 180.
Tomorrow night the league will stage the play off of their 180 competition at the Pip Club.

The Pheasant lost their unbeaten record in division one of the Harborne and District Winter League this week when they travelled to take on Midland Red and returned on the wrong side of 5-4 verdict which was not obtained until the very last leg of the match. Smethwick Labour Club, with a 160 finish from D.Hadley won 5-4 as hosts to Avenue Social ’B’ and have taken over pole position with a two pints lead over their rivals.
Woodpecker beat Hillyfields 5-4 to extend their 100% winning run in the second division and although Pheasant Flights, who beat Quinton Members Club Flights 5-4, are level on points with Woodpecker and just one leg of average adrift, they have played one game more.
New Inns man R.Tucker recorded the best finish of the week a 161 game shot as his side won 6-3 at home to Quinborne.
