Reigning champion Trevor Frost is playing catch up with his fixtures in the Brook Meadow Individual League, but with four wins from this week’s four games he has roared to the top of the table on 150 points from 30 games, four points more than second placed Ross Macken, who has also played two more fixtures. In this week’s matches Frost recorded 4-0 wins against Keith Kelly, Terry Blakemore and John Masefield plus a 3-1 success over Jason Evans. Macken meanwhile had a 3-1 win against Mark Elkin and could only manage a 2-2 draw with Dean McCauley.
Only two maximums this week and they were hit by Ian McFarlane and Trevor Frost.

Midland Red consolidated their pole position in division one of the Four Oaks and District League with an emphatic 9-0 home win over bottom of the table Old Oscott Arrows, despite a 180 from Arrows man A.Lea. The Reds now have a four point’s advantage over their nearest rivals Boldmere Sports with a game in hand. Boldmere lost ground as they went down 5-4 after leading 4-3 at ever improving and reigning champions Sportsmans Rest who after a shaky start to the season have crept up the table and are now level on points with Boldmere.
The second division produced a local derby between Cross keys and Cross Keys PPA, which saw the former come back from 4-3 down to clinch a close 5-4 verdict. Divisional leaders Anvil Nomads had a comfortable 7-2 victory as they played hosts to Red Lion Arrows and now hold a massive six points lead over the rest of the field after only seven fixtures have been played.

The curtain raiser in division one of the Harborne and District Winter League brought together the top two teams from last season. Champions Smethwick Labour Club travelled to take on runners up Midland Red. The result as would be expected could not have been any closer with the Smethwick just getting the 5-4 verdict. In the other first division games Avenue Social ’B’, with a 160 break from R.Mann beat Stonehouse 7-2 and the Pheasant, whose A.Powell hit a maximum won 6-3 at Bartley Green F.C.
Hillyfields began their campaign in division two in style with a resounding 8-1 win at Avenue Social ’A’, K.Drain recording a 147 checkout for the victors. Woodpecker had a 6-3 win at New Inns, whose I.Tucker broke with 160, while Pheasant Flights just got the edge on Quinborne with a 5-4 result.

The Sheldon and Distric Winter League had round one of their Punchbowl on the fixture card. 8-1 was the biggest win of the round and that was achieved by both Pavilions and Sheldon Dukes, who in turn accounted for Iron Horse and Shard End Social. Other winners to join them in the hat for round two were, Shirley RBL, Yardley Ex Flights, Saltley Amateur Gardeners, RAFA, Brook Meadow, Hobs Meadow, Castle Vale residents Association, Kingshurst Labour Club, Farringdon Fights, Stechford Social, Custard House and Sheldon Social.
On the individual scene C.Johnson (Shirley RBL) broke with 160 and Saltley’s A.Caddick recorded a superb seven darts game.

Queens Head suffered their first defeat of the season in division one of the Pip Club League when they surprisingly lost 5-3 at Tamworth Sports Centre. Nevertheless, Queens Head stay in the number one spot on fifteen points, one more than Glascote Club who finished all square at 4-4 in their home tie with the Dolphin.
