Shirley RBL extended their unbeaten run in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League with a 6-3 win at Sheldon Dukes. Shirley are two points ahead of both Brook Meadow and Shard End RBL ’B’, the former having a 5-4 win at Mackadown Social while Shard End RBL ’B’ beat local rivals Shard End RBL ’A’ with a convincing 7-2 verdict.
Hobs Meadow lead the way in division one, they too boast a 100% win record, the latest being a 5-4 result over Small Heath Amateur Gardeners. Hen and Chickens lost their undefeated record as they went down 6-3 at home to Iron Horse. Pavilions, Yardley Ex Colts, Hen and Chickens and Iron Horse are all just two points behind the leaders.
Just one leg of average separates the top two teams in division two, Willclare Sports and Social having the marginal edge on Kingshurst Labour Club, both teams won 6-3 this week against in turn Highwood and Bordesley Labour Club.

The Four Oaks and District League were involved in the first round of their Brian Goodman Cup this week and two division two teams, Cross Keys PPA and Anvil Nomads came up trumps against first division opponents Hill Social and Boot Flights. Old Oscott Arrows had an exciting 5-4 win against local rivals and club mates Old Oscott WMC. Midland Red showed no mercy as they accounted for their opponents Aston Social with a 9-0 whitewash.
Other teams winning through to round two were, Sportsmans Rest, Cross Keys and Pint Pot.
Anvil Nomads player N.Robbins was the only player to hit a maximum on the night.

Reigning Brook Meadow Individual League champion Trevor Frost received a couple of setbacks to this seasons title aspirations when he somewhat surprisingly went down 3-1 to Matthew Gallett, recovered to beat Adam Gallett 3-1 and then could only manage a 2-2 draw with Gordon Clinton, Gordon in top form hitting 3×140,2×125,123 and 3×100, to Frosts 3×140,129 and 8×100. The situation could have been worse for Frost but current leader Ross Macken finished all square in his two games with Ian McFarlane and second placed Jason Evans also had a 2-2 draw against Dean McCauley. Evans also played Mark Elkin and won 4-0 hitting 2×180,140,128,126 and 4×100.

No change at the top of the first division in the Pip Club League as the top teams Queens Head and Glascote Club met on the latter’s board. The result was a 4-4 draw and leaves Queens Head still two points ahead of second placed Glascote. Three Horse Shoes recorded their first win of the campaign, a 6-2 verdict away to Two Gates Club.
In division two Wiggy 180 continue to lead the field, a 5-3 home win over bottom of the table Red Lion ’B’ giving them a total of 13 points, four more than their nearest rivals Red Lion (Polesworth) who lost 6-2 at Boot Inn (Grendon), this being Red Lion’s second defeat of the season. Boot Inn have joined Red Lion (Polesworth) on the same nine points as have Royal Oak who beat Wigginton 6-2.

The first round of the League Cup was on the fixture card for the Small Heath League. The top two teams in the league, Mitre and second placed Victoria 301 Club squared up to each other on the Mitre’s board and it was the hosts who got the 7-2 verdict. In the other games Emerald Club beat Wagon and Horses 6-3 and Custard House had a close 5-4 win at Victoria Flights.
