Canley Sports and Social Club, Coventry was the venue for the play off’s of the BDO British Champions Cup. Local counties Warwickshire and West Midlands were involved in both the men’s and women’s competitions. In the men’s knockout the two teams met in the final, but it was West Midlands who stormed to a resounding 8-1 victory.

The ladies event saw Warwickshire make their exit in their first game, losing by a close 4-3 to Northamptonshire, who then went on to win the title by beating West Midlands 6-1.

With a total of 60 points Trevor Frost has once again taken over pole position in the Brook Meadow Individual League. Frost this week had 4-0 wins against Adam Gallett and Ross Macken, his current nearest rival on 54 points and also a 3-1 success over Terry Blakemore.

There were only fourteen matches this week, but in those game there was a total of six maximums provided by Trevor Frost, Ross Macken (2), Ian McFarlane (2) and Gordon Clinton.

The Sheldon and District Summer League have been playing off the second round of their Mrs F. Richman Trophy. Biggest winners of the round were group one team Bromford Bridge Members Club, who beat group three side Hobs Meadow 7-0. Not far behind were group three leaders Shirley RBL, who playing away against Small Heath Amateur Gardeners (group six) returned with a resounding 6-1 verdict.

Other winners going into the hat for round three are, Castle Vale Residents Association, Brook Meadow, Banbury Club, Pavilions, Saltley Amateur Gardeners and Yardley Ex Colts.

After completing eight weeks of league fixtures the Pheasant are leading the field in division one of the Harborne and District Summer League, the latest team to surrender to the Pheasant are Quinton Members Club, who went down 7-2 at home. Second in the table and reigning champions Smethwick Labour Club are two points adrift of the leaders, but do have the advantage of a game in hand, their most recent win being a similar 7-2 win at home to Hillyfields ’B’.

In division two Avenue Social ’B’ hold on to pole position despite going down for the first time this campaign, a 5-4 home defeat at the hands of second placed Stonehouse, who are now level on the same twelve points as the leaders and trail by a slightly inferior average.

The Dolphin lost their 100% win record in division one of the Pip Club League this week as they were held to a 4-4 draw in their encounter at the Glascote Club, who are at present in third place on 3 points. Nevertheless, Dolphin lost no ground in the title race as second in the table Queens Head also finished all square at 4-4 in their fixture at the Two Gates Club.

Wiggy 180 continue to impress in division two adding a 5-3 home win over Red Lion, Polesworth to thier two previous 8-0 victories. Royal Oak keep the pressure on the leaders with an 8-0 win over Tamworth Snooker Centre and remain in second spot just one point adrift.
