Warwickshire go into their penultimate fixture in the premier division of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships this coming weekend with just two wins from seven games. Points are now at a premium for the local county if they want to retain their premier division status. It’s getting tight at the top of the Brook Meadow Individual League with just four points seperating the top three players after completing 22 fixtures. Jason Evans leads the field on 91 points, but he slipped up this week as he lost 2-1 to eighth in the table Dave Elliott. One point behind Evans is Trevor Frost who had a 3-0 success against Bill Cadby followed by a 2-1 win against Keith Kelly. Reigning champion Ian McFarlane has moved up into third place on 87 points after playing his rearranged games. McFarlane played four games this week winning only two of them, losing out to Robbie Earl and Brendan Lysaght 2-1.

No fewer than nine 180’s were recorded supplied by Ian McFarlane (2), Colin Farrington (2), Jason Evans, Brendan Lysaght, Dave Elliott, Carl Winters and Trevor Frost.

Just two rearranged league fixtures were played in the Four Oaks and District League, in division one Hardy Spicer won their home tie with Hill Social to clinch the division’s shadow league title, while in the second division the Acorn had a more comfortable 6-3 win in their game at the Plough.

Smethwick Labour Club continue to lead the way in division one of the Harborne and District Winter League following their 8-1 home win over Quinborne to make it seventeen straight wins for Smethwick. A.Powell chalked up an eight darts leg for the George, but it was to no avail as his side surprisingly went down 5-4 at home to Bartley Green Social Club. P.Watkins hit a maximum and had a nine darts leg for the social club.

In division two the top two teams Thurlestone and Stonehouse both recorded 6-3 to remain locked together on sixteen points. Thurlestone won at Avenue Social while Stonehouse had a home match against Quinton Members Club Flights, Thurlestone hold on to pole position with a slightly better average.

Three Horse Shoes were the only top three winners in division one of the Pip Club League this week. Leaders Globe travelled to Hopwas Club and returned with just a share of the points, Paul Corfield hitting a 180 for the hosts. Second in the table Dolphin also finished all square at 4-4 at the Queens Head and a 6-2 home win by Horse Shoes over White Lion sees them move to within two points of the top team.

No such problems in division two as Glascote Club moved on to 15 points with a 5-3 home win over third placed Boot Inn. Glascote’s nearest rivals Two Gates Club had a 4-4 draw with Red Lion (Polesworth) and are now four points adrift of the leaders.

All four games played in the G.U.L.P. Charity League finished with 4-3 results and all four games went in favour of the home team. Tribe remain unbeaten in pole position on 12 points after beating the Who’s. Bromford are second and they defeated the Beasts. In the other two games there were wins for Devils and Vicars in turn at the expense of Rebels and Lions.
