Midland Red completed their fixture card in the Four Oaks and District League with a very close 5-4 home defeat at the hands of the Hardy Spicer team. The game went to the very last leg of the final game before the visitors claimed the points, however, the Red’s still finished in the runners up spot two points behind division one champions Sportsmans Rest.

In division two Red Lion Flights finished their campaign with a resounding 8-1 home win against Boldmere Sports to put them top of the table two points ahead of Deer’s Leap, who have two games remaining.

Four points is the advantage that Jason Evans has over second in the table Trevor Frost in the Brook Meadow Individual League. Evans had a 3-0 win over Brendan Lysaght followed by a 2-1 success against Martin Cooper , while Frost, who played three fixtures recorded three 3-0 wins against Brian Cooper, Mark Elkin and Martin Cooper.

Reigning champions Ian McFarlane is currently fourth in the league. However, McFarlane has three games in hand on Evans and with maximum points from those fixtures would take over pole position.

Gordon Clinton was in a top scoring mood this week as he chalked up no fewer than three, two against Jon Miley and one against Jay Murray. Other players to find the three treble twenties were Keith Kelly (2), Brendan Lysaght, Jason Evans and Mark Birch.

In the Sheldon and District Winter League teams are reminded that all round two games for the Denis Houlders Trophy should be played off by this coming Saturday. In division one of the Pip Club League third placed Dolphin gained ground on the leading pair Globe and Red Lion ’A’ as they recorded a 6-2 home victory over Tamworth Snooker Centre, while the top two teams could only manage to draw against respective opponents Three Horse Shoes and Hopwas Club.

Glascote went down for the first time this season losing by a massive 7-1 at the Royal Oak. Nevertheless, Glascote hang on to pole position with a three points lead over Two Gates Club and Boot Inn, the former finished all square at four each at the Winning Post and Boot won 6-2 playing hosts to the Wigginton.

Lions, after a 4-3 win over the Devils lead the G.U.L.P. Charity League, but only on a couple of points of average over the Tribe who won by the same margin at the Beasts. In the other game played Bromford won 6-2 at the Rebels and the Who’s beat Vicars 5-2.

A short trip to take on Worcestershire in division three of the BDO Inter Counties Championships saw West Midlands return with an 18-18 draw. Both men’s teams won, the ’A’ 9-3 and the ’B’ 7-5, but unfortunately both of the women’s teams went down 5-1.

Taking the match awards wee Ian Jones 26.56 (’A’), Dave Arnold 30.06 (’B’), Leanne Jennings 21.46 (’A’) and Diane Tolley 17.26 (’B’).
