Staffordshire recently called off their away fixture against Warwickshire in the premier division of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships due to the snowfall over the weekend of the 10th and 11th February, the only county to cancel their game. Last weekend the match was played at Canley Sports and Social Club, Coventry and the result was a much needed 22-14 win for Warwickshire, their biggest and only second victory of the season so far, both ladies teams won 4-2 with Wendy Adams (19.24) taking the ’B’ teams match award and inevitably Trina Gulliver (27.33) winning the ‘A’ trophy.

The men’s ‘B’ are still seeking their first win of the campaign as they lost to their counterparts 7-5, but the ‘A’ team chalked up their second success of the season a 9-3 victory with Dave Harris jnr (29.41) their top man. Trevor Frost, with a 24.66 average won the ‘B’ teams award.

Jason Evans continues to impress in the Brook Meadow Individual League as he added a 3-0 win over Scott Austin followed by a 2-1 success against Jon Miley to his tally to make it fifteen wins in sixteen games to give him a total of 71 points. Ross Macken currently holds second place with 64 points, his latest games seeing him win 2-1 against Martin Cooper and Scott Austin.

Maximums reached double figures this week as six players notched ten 180’s between them. Players involved were John Burdett, Jason Evans (2), Martin Cooper (2), Ian McFarlane (2), Carl Winters (2) and Trevor Frost.

On the fixture card for the Four Oaks and District League this week were cup matches. First the semi finals of the Brian Goodman Cup in which second division Red Lion Flights beat their first division opponents Old Oscott WMC 6-3. The other semi was an all first division affair, second placed Midland Red losing out by 5-4 to third in the table Boot Flights.

In the Ken Rust semi’s first division leaders Sportsmans Rest had a comfortable 7-2 win over Boldmere Sports and meeting them in the final will be Barn Social, who accounted for Plough and Harrow with a 6-3 scoreline.

In a rearranged second division fixture Deer’s Leap won 5-4 at the Acorn to take them two points clear at the top of the table with only two games to play.

No change at the top of the Harborne and District Winter League as the top two teams Smethwick Labour Club and Midland Red both record 7-2 wins, leaders Smethwick Labour played away to Quinborne and remain two points ahead of the Red’s who also played away against Hillyfields.

At the other end of the table two teams Avenue Social and Quinton Members Club Flights, both without a win so far, met on the Avenue’s board, the result a close 5-4 in favour of Quinton.

Personal triumphs this week were provided by K.Vaughan (Stonehouse) and S.Heath (George), each of them hitting a maximum and there was 160 breaks for R.O’Neill (Bartley Green F.C.) and I.Horton (Pheasant).

Dolphin lost ground in the division one title race in the Pip Club League when they went down 5-3 at home to Red Lion ’A’ this week. As a result Dolphin have dropped to third place and Red Lion move up into second spot level on points with leaders the Globe, who won 6-2 at the White Lion.

Glascote Club increased their lead in division two to five points after beating Two Gates Club 5-3 and seeing their nearest rivals Red Lion (Polesworth) only managing a draw away to bottom of the table Royal Oak (Kingsbury).
