Eleven points is now the gap between Ian McFarlane, who leads the field in the Brook Meadow Individual League and second placed Jason Evans, who has 88 points. For the first time this season McFarlane lost his first game. Playing against third in the table Mark Birch he went down 3-0, the margin of the defeat a little more than surprising. The win gives Birch 86 points and brings him level with Ross Macken but two adrift of Jason Evans.
Chalking up 180’s were Ross Macken, Joe Hall, Gordon Clinton (3), Bill Cadby, Barry French, Jason Evans, Jon Miley and Jay Murray.

Some remarkable results in the Four Oaks and District League this week as five of the seven fixtures finished with 5-4 scorelines. In division one Boot Flights travelled to take on Hardy Spicer and despite finding themselves trailing 4-0 fought back magnificently to snatch a 5-4 win. Sportsmans Rest maintained their unbeaten record, making it three wins in a row by beating Old Oscott Arrows 5-4, which take them into pole position and see’s Arrows drop to third place behind Midland Red who won their home tie against Anvil Nomads 7-2. Hill Social were also 7-2 winners as they defeated Old Oscott WMC, who are now the only team in the division without a win so far.
In the second division all three games were 5-4. There were wins for Bromford Lions over the Plough, Boldmere Sports, who beat the Acorn and Deer’s Leap, another team that came from 4-0 down to earn a hard fought 5-4 victory over Red Lion Flights.

The Harborne and District Winter League raised the curtain on their new season and hitting the headlines in the very first match were Quinton Members Club representatives F.McCool, who hit a maximum and J.Kearns who recorded a 154 break, their team won 6-3 at home to the Quinborne. Biggest win of the week went to Smethwick Labour Club, who won 8-1 at the Hillyfields. New Inns man K.Hall also chalked up a 154 break, however, his team went down 5-4 at Avenue Social.
In the other games the George and Bartley Green F.C. both won their away fixtures 6-3 against respective opponents Raven and Quinton Members Club Flights. The Pheasant were also away winners, 5-4 at Bartley Green Social.

A 7-2 win away at the Malt Shovel has seen Olton RBL extend their winning run to five games in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League and become the division‘s early pacesetters. Two points behind the leaders are Mackadown Sports and Social, who also recorded a 7-2 win in their home tie with Fordbridge Social.
In the first division Shirley RBL are setting the pace as they registered the week’s biggest win, 8-1 over Iron Horse. The win gives Olton ten points from five games, similarly Stechford Social, who beat Kingshurst Labour Club 7-2 have the same ten points, but their average is inferior to Olton’s.
Farringdon Flights lead the field in division two on eight points, close on their heels are Small Heath Amateur Gardeners, who also have eight points and their 5-4 win against Willclare Sports and Social leaves them just one leg of average behind the leaders.
The league have also had the preliminary round of the Punch Bowl on their agenda, which saw Ivy Leaf beat Golden Acres 7-2 and Sedgemere Flights just edge out Yardley Ex Colts with a close 5-4 verdict.

Drayton Manor Cricket and Social Club was the setting for the Pip Club League’s finals night. Dolphin added the Open Cup title to their league title with a final 5-2 success over Red Lion ’A’ (Wilnecote). The division one Shadow Cup was won by Queens Head, who with a 5-3 result accounted for Three Horse Shoes. By the same margin Glascote Club beat Boot Inn to take the division two title. Presenting the prizes was Peter Manley.

The early leaders in the West Midlands Men’s Super League are Wednesfield with 30 points from three games. Breathing heavily down their neck’s are reigning champions Tipton, who have 27 points.
In the women’s league Blakenhall, with 12 points are three ahead of second placed Wolverhampton, both have only played two games.
