Three wins in week five of the Brook Meadow Individual League as seen Ian McFarlane take over pole position. In his first match Ian beat Warren Rudd 2-1hitting eight tons or more in the process. He won both of his other games 3-0. Terry Blakemore was Ian’s next opponent, Ian again finding the three figure scores relatively easy as he chalked up 180,2×140,125 and 3×100 and followed that with scores of 170,2×140,5×100 plus a 15 darts leg against Bill Cadby. Ian now has total points of 46, two more than previous champion Mark Birch who lies in second place.
Other players to hit a maximum this week were Warren Rudd, Robbie Earl and Carl Winters.

Following their 9-0crushing of Quinton Members Club Flights in division one of the Harborne and District 401 Summer League, Midland Red have regained the number spot, D.Bourne hitting a maximum for the Red’s. Smethwick Labour Club being the team ousted from pole position despite a 6-3 win against Quinton Members Club and a 180 from V.Gould. The difference between the two teams is now just two legs of average, should prove to be a very interesting run in to the end of the season.
In the other division one games the George beat Cock Inn 8-1 to move into third place and Old Mill recorded a close 5-4 success in their game at Bartley Green F.C.
In the second division Raven had an emphatic 8-1 win over Bartley Green Social Club and not far behind them were the Pheasant who beat Hillyfields 7-2.
The quarter finals of the league cup have also been on the league’s agenda the biggest win was provided by Smethwick Labour Club who took out Quinborne with an 8-1 result. Midland Red won 7-2 against the George, while 6-3 was Harborne Stores winning margin against the Pheasant. Hillyfields booked their place in the last four with a close 5-4 verdict over Stonehouse.

It could not be closer at the top of division one of the Pip Club League, with three teams, Dolphin Red Lion ’A’ and White Lion all level on eighteen points and only average separating them. Red Lion ’A’ just have the edge with Dolphin second and White Lion third.
It’s also close in division two where Hopwas Club are currently top on 17 points from eleven games. Tamworth Sports Bar are second only one point adrift of the leaders but with a game in hand plus a superior average.

In the G.U.L.P. Charity League Bromford gained a vital 4-3 away win over Barmy Army, which effectively takes Barmy Army out of contention for the title and also rules out an thoughts they had of being the first team to successfully defend the title. Bromford however, as a result go clear at the top of the table, Tigers maintained their unbeaten run with a 6-1 victory over the Sharks and puts them within two points of the leaders.
The Beasts 6-1 win over the Lions and the Tribes similar success against the Red Devils keeps both teams in the race for third place.
A last leg 4-3 win over the Who’s in a rearranged fixture see’s the Red Devils now become slight favourites to win the shadow league title.
