The Four Oaks and District League closed their programme with the finals of their Brian Goodman and Ken Rust Cups. In the Brian Goodman knockout Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s powered to an 8-1 victory over Old Oscott Arrows with B.Stephens recording a 160 break in the process. The Ken Rust Cup final was a much closer affair with league champions Midland Red just getting the edge on Hill Social with a 5-4 result.

Also on the agenda for the league was their singles competition, which turned out to be another success for the Midland Red. T.Lewis took the honours beating Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s representative A.Stainfield in the final by 2-0, but the match was much closer than the scoreline suggests.

Saltley Amateur Gardeners finished the season on a high when in their last fixture they beat Malt Shovel 9-0. Their win gave them a total of 36 points to win the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. Highwood were runners up, a 6-3 win at Brook Meadow gave them 34 points.

In the quarter finals of the Sheldon Shield Shard End Social handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Millhouse, while both Iron Horse and RAFA had 7-2 wins over respective opponents Harvester and Willclare Sports and Social. Shard End RBL Flights, with a nine darts game from R.Cheshire and a 160 break from I.Beattie beat Gables Tavern 6-3.

Through to the quarter finals of the Denis Houlders Trophy are Raven ’A’, Sheldon Dukes ’B’, Fordbridge Social ’B’, Yardley Ex Colts ’B’, Malt Shovel ’A’ and Farringdon Social ’B’.

After completing three fixtures the Tigers are top of the G.U.L.P. Charity League. The Who’s were the latest team to lose to the Tigers, going down 6-1. Tribe and Bromford also remain unbeaten in turn they defeated No Hopers (6-1) and Lions (6-1).

Reigning champions Barmy Army found the going tough at home to the Beasts as they lost by the odd game of seven, while Red Devils had no such problem, accounting for Sharks with a 6-1 verdict.

Neil Parsonage (Gunmakers Arms) is the new 501 Knockout champion of the Small Heath League. Neil beat Bromford Bridge Members Club ’A’ man Rob Wilson in the final. Losing semi finalists were, Raymond Fisher (Gunmakers Arms) and Matthew Cooper (Bromford Bridge Members Club ’A’).

West Midlands rounded off their season in division three of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships with a convincing 21-15 home win against Northamptonshire. However, despite their victory it was not enough to achieve promotion and they will again do battle in the third division next season. Oxfordshire won the division with a total of 211 points, Derbyshire were runners up on 200 with West Midlands, who had 191 points just missing out.
