Two former champions of the Brook Meadow Individual League, Robbie earl and Mark Birch are the early pacesetters in the current season. Despite suffering a somewhat surprising 3-0 reversal at the hands of Simon Winters, Earl still leads the field on 69 points, after he made amends by recording wins over Roy Parry, John Whitehouse and Carl Winters. Some four points behind is Birch, Earl’s closest rival, he had wins against Carl Winters, Simon Winters, Roy Parry and fourth placed Gordon Clinton. Ian McFarlane is third in the table on 62 points.
Quite a week for maximums as Gordon Clinton notched a couple and there was one each for Carl Winters, Robbie Earl, Mark Birch, Simon Winters and Keith Kelly.

The Four Oaks and District League have been engaged in the finals of their Coronation Shield and Norman Day Cup. In the Coronation Shield Hardy Spicer’s M.Austin was in form with scores of 2×100, breaks of 100 and 160 plus a 115 finish, however, it was not enough for his team to avoid a 10-5 defeat against Anvil Nomads.
P.Allen (2×100,125,105) and W.Chinn made it a terrific double for Anvil Nomads when they defeated Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s duo T.Kelly and A.Whitehouse 2-1 in the final of the Chairman’s Pairs Doubles final.
The Norman Day Cup title went to Midland Red, who had a convincing 11-4 victory over Rose and Crown.

There was a rearranged fixture played in the Small Heath League between Bromford Bridge Members Club ‘A’ and Gunmakers Arms. The result was an emphatic 8-1 success for Bromford Bridge, the win as taken Bromford into pole position, level on the same 30 points as the Mitre, but with a seven legs advantage over their rivals. With just one match remaining for each of the two teams the decision as to who will collect the champion’s silverware on presentation night depends on the outcome of the last game of the season.
