On the agenda for the Sheldon and District Summer League, was the preliminary round of their League Cup, and handing out a 7-0 whitewash to their goup five visitors were current group one leaders Langle Arrows. Close behind Langley Arrows with 6-1 wins were Highwood, Sheldon Marlborough Ridge, Dog Inn Nomads, Station Inn, Raven Arrows and RAFA who in turn took out, Moseley Rugby Club, Trident Flights, Mackadown Sports and Social Club ‘B’, Family Tree, Shirley Misfits and Arran Way Arrows. The remaining six games all ended with a 5-2 result and the winners were Lyndon Old Boys, Raven, Kingshurst Labour Club, Trident Spears, Yardley District Amateur Darts and Langley Flights who in turn defeated Langley Bullets, Langley Pints, Smithswood Social Club, RAFA Arrows, Castle Bromwich Spitfires and Hunters Moon.

The Harborne and District League are up to week twenty and leading the field with thirty-four points from eighteen games id copper Fox ‘R’ whose latest fixture saw them win 8-1 at home against bottom of the table Windsor Complex. Second placed Northfield Darts Club had a similar 8-1 win at home over next to bottom of the league table Crown, to put them on the same thirty-four points as Copper Fox ‘R’ but from nineteen games. Third and fourth placed Northfield Conservative Club and Smethwick Cricket Club are also both on thirty-four points but they have played twenty games. Northfield Conservative Club’s most recent fixture saw them, like the two teams above them, win 8-1 at Lion Bar, while Smethwick Cricket Club had a close 5-4 result playing at home against Weoley Castle WMC. After the top four there is then a gap of four points to fifth placed Copper Fox ‘M’ who won 8-1 at Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club.
There were no fewer than six maximums in the league this week and they came from, T.Hamilton (Copper Fox ‘R’), T.Shipley and D.Hill (Northfield Conservative Club), A.Beagrie (Thimble Mill), S.Hercules (Bourneville) and Joe Fletcher (Weoley Castle Pub).

Matthew Cain added a 3-0 win over Andrew Richmond followed by a 2-1 success against L.J.Austin to keep him top of the Heartlands Sugardarts M&E Co Double Top League with 103 points from forty games. A former leader, Steve Cain is second on the same 103 points as Matthew but from six games more, the latest of which saw him win 2-1 against both Alex Downes and Roxy Bennett despite Bennett hitting a maximum against him. Third in the league, Martin Cooper beat Bob Cooper 3-0 and Matt Richmond 2-1 to put him on ninety-seven points and although level on games with Matthew Cain he has six games in hand on Steve Cain and is only six points behind him.

Although Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club had a close 4-3 win at Bournbrook, it was enough to maintain their 100% win record and keep them top of division one in the South West Birmingham Clubs League, their eight points two to the good on second placed Northfield Darts Club who have replaced Stirchley United in the number two spot after they won 5-2 at home against Perfection and Stirchley won 4-3 at Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’. Stirchley United have the same six points as Northfield Darts Club and are only one leg of average behind them. K.Bedder (West Heath CEM) hit a maximum in his team’s 4-3 home defeat to Quarry Lane Club, while Bournbrook’s J.Warman had a 160 break.
Northfield Darts Club top the division one pre-match doubles league with forty-six points and have a five points advantage over second placed Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club.
Northfield Conservative Club ‘A’ made it four wins in as many games in division two, when they won 5-2 at Longbridge Arrows, former leaders, E57 lost 4-3 at Kings Norton Arrows and drop to second place, two points short of the new leaders. Third in the division, Cue Club, won 4-3 at Stirchley Arrows to make it played two, won two. A.Reynolds (E57) found the three treble twenties.
Top of the division two pre-match doubles league is Bartley Green FC, their forty-two points, one more than their nearest rivals E57 who are on forty-one points. Third and fourth placed Longbridge Warriors and Northfield Conservative Club ‘A’ are on thirty points.

No change in the top two positions in division one of the Sutton and District League, leaders Highcroft Hotdogs slipped-up ths week losing 5-4 at home to Erdington Arrows who are placed fifth in the division. Second placed Bishop Vesey reduced the deficit on Highcroft Hotdogs to just two points with their 5-4 home win over fourth placed Nomads @ Hollyfields. Old Horns Lions are third, their thirty-two points, four off the top and two short of Bishop Vesey after adding on their latest 5-4 home win against Old Oscott Arrows.
In the division one shadow league, Heartlands top the table with ten points, two more than second and third placed St Thomas Lions and Charley’s Flights.
Game number twenty-one in division two saw leaders Rise Club lose for only the second time in twenty-one games when they lost 5-4 at Sutton Sports, who are only three places off the foot of the table. Despite the defeat Rise Club remain top of the division with thirty-eight points and still have a two point’s advantage over second placed Pint Pot Flights who won their home game against Deer’s Leap 5-4. Third in the division Great Barr Social won 7-2 at home against Beggars Bush, whose P.Smith had a 160 break. Great Barr Social are on the same thirty-four points as Pint Pot Flights but with a game in hand, a win would put them within two points of the leaders.
Sutton Sharks top the division two shadow league with ten points, second placed Rosey Mac’s bar have eight points.

Amazingly, the top four teams in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League all won 7-0 in game sixteen, leaders Old Liberal Club winning at home against Raven, second placed Gornal British Legion winning at Queens Head, third placed Cross playing away against Glasscutters Arms ‘B’ and fourth in the table Five Ways winning at Mount Pleasant ‘A’. The win saw Old Liberal Club take their undefeated run to fifteen games, their thirty points , two more than Gornal British Legion who in turn have a two points lead on Cross and there is another two points gap to Five Ways.

The Silver End Sunday Morning League have got their new season underway with the preliminary round of their League Cup. Probably the biggest shock of the round was the 5-3 defeat of Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ by the Woodman. The biggest win of the round went to Brier Rose who handed out an 8-0 whitewash to their visiting team Glasscutters, while Vine were not far behind with their 7-1 success over Pensnett Liberal Club. Two of the fixtures went to a decider as they finished at 4-4, Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘B’ versus High Acres ‘A’, with High acres winning the 701 deciding leg and Old Star versus Roebuck, with Old Star ‘B’ winning the deciding leg. New Talbot won their tie at High Acres ‘B’ 6-2 and there were 5-3 wins for Tenth Lock, Dudley Sports and Old Star ‘A’ at the expense in turn of Red Cow, Portway and Kingswinford British Legion. Spring Meadow had a bye.

There were 9-0 wins for the top two teams in the Netherton Thursday Night 501 League, leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ winning at home against Hawthorns, making it sixteen unbeaten games, and second placed Old Liberal Club won at Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘B’ to leave them six points (two wins) behind the leaders. Third placed Rose and Crown (Wordsley), with two maximums from Chris Moreton and one each for Simon Bloomer and Joe Poole, won their home fixture against Netherton Sports and Social Club 7-2 to put them on the same forty-two points as Old Liberal Club but with a game in hand.
Other players to find the three treble twenties were Colin Bowen and Grant Jackson (Bulls Head), Jamie Wrench (Haden Cross) and Jamie Rollinson (Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’). Finn Allen (Haden Cross) had a 160 break.

It was cup quarter-finals week in the Rowley Monday Night League, first the League Cup in which division one leaders Bell progressed to the semi-finals with a 5-1 win at Wheatsheaf, Romsley Cricket Club also winning 5-1 at Shelter. Bostin Darts ‘B’ and Gate Hangs Well were 5-2 winners against their respective opponents Tividale Sports and Tividale FC.
In the Plate quarter-finals, the tie between Double Tops Micro Bar and Bostin Darts ‘C’ produced three maximums, one for R.Cave (Double Top Micro Bar) and two for Bostin Darts ‘C’ from M.Banner and L.Billingham, the all-important 6-3 result going to Double Top Micro Bar. Hawthorns Tavern won their tie with Wonder 7-2, there was a 6-3 win for Rowley Labour Club against Whiteheath Tavern and Coombes Wood made the last four with a 5-4 win over Vine.

As the West Midlands Ladies Super League has been slowly drawing to an end, Kat McLean has been steadily climbing up the table playing her rearranged fixtures. In the latest fixtures she beat Sarah Maybury and Tara Fullwood 3-0 to see her not only move up into pole position but to clinch the title with 124 points, still with another fixture to play. McLean ousted Jacqueline Maiden from the number one spot, Maiden with 118 points finsishing as runner-up and last season’s champion, Evonne Taylor, ending her season in third place with 117 points.

The latest round of fixtures in the West Midlands Men’s Super League produced a top of the table clash between leaders Staffordshire Knot and second placed Kings Head. With home advantage Staffordshire Knot ran out the 3-2 winners to open up an eight points gap between the two teams, Staffordshire on 102 and Kings Head on 94. Third place Dog and Partridge had a 5-0 home win over Junction ‘B’ to leave them on eighty-eight points plus a game in hand on the two teams above them.

Jason Lowe made it thirty-four wins in thirty-five games in the Amblecote RBL Premier League with a 6-1 win over Caden Marsh and a 5-2 win over Ian Townsend to give him a total of 248 points. The defeat for Townsend cost him his second place despite him winning 5-2 against Jake Shipley, he is now third on 211 points. Nick Fullwell takes over at number two, he played three games on thee night winning 7-0 against Mark Nassralla and 6-1 againt both Joe Poole and Mark Hopkins to give him 216 points from thirty-six games.

Game twenty-two saw new leaders in both divisions of the Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night Singles League. In division one Scott Baker replaced Simon Pritchard, who didn’t play this week, at the top of the table after he beat Wayne Speed 7-1 and Carl Zambra 8-0, taking his points to 135 from sixteen games. Second placed Chris Manoila had a 6-2 win over Richard Brown to give him 128 points from nineteen games. Simon Pritchard is now third, he has played nineteen games and has 126 points.
In division two, leader Wayne Barratt didn’t play and drops to second place on 137 points from nineteen games, Matt Ford has moved up into pole position with 142 points from twenty games after he won 7-1 against Eddie Gripton.

Garretts Green Sports Bar is running a “Dart Series” commencing Tuesday 4th August with the last of the ten weekly events on Tuesday 20th October. There will be an £8 entry per weekly event with an end of series finals night for the top eight point’s scorers, with all eight finalists receiving a pay-out.
