It was cup week in the Sheldon and District Winter League, round one of their Sheldon Shield, with the biggest win of the round going to division one side Yardley Ex Colts who won 6-1 playing away against Castle Bromwich Spitfires from division two. There were 5-2 wins for Lyndon Old Boys and Banbury Club (division one), Langley Pints (division two) and RAFA (premier league) who in turn accounted for Moseley Rugby Club and Station Inn (division one), Raven Flights (division two) and Raven (division one). Also making it through to the next round were CBMC-A (division two), Sheldon Marlborough Arrows (premier league) and Hollywood Social Club (division two) who had respective 4-3 wins over Brian’s Flights (premier league), Digby (division two) and RAFA Arrows (division one).
In addition to the cup fixtures there were two rearranged league fixtures played. In the premier league, despite Alan Mayell notching a maximum, his team Dog Inn Nomads lost their home tie with second placed Langley Arrows 7-2. The division two fixture between Shirley Misfits and Trident Flights saw the former win 6-3 to lift them one place in the table to fourth while their opponents remain rooted at the foot of the division without a single point from their thirteen games so far.

With no results for the top two teams, Copper Fox ‘R’ and Northfield Conservative Club, in the Harborne and District League, the former holds on to pole position with a perfect score of twenty-four points from twelve games while the latter, who are on twenty-two points from the same twelve games drop to third place behind Northfield Darts Club whose 8-1 win at Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club has lifted them up one place to second as they have a more superior average than Northfield Conservative Club. Fourth in the league Smethwick Cricket Club are also on twenty-two points after they won their home game with Harborne Social 6-3. After the top four there is a gap of four points to fifth in the league Copper Fox ‘M whose latest fixture saw them win 7-2 at Stag and three Horseshoes.
Four players found the three treble twenties this week and they were K.Foxhall (Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club), C.Fowler and J.Loughran (Copper Fox ‘M’) plus A.Beagrie (Thimble Mill).

The South West Birmingham Clubs League played off the finals of their Divisional Cups, the division one final producing something of a shock result as next to bottom of the division, Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club had a narrow 5-4 win against divisional leaders Northfield Darts Club, the game going to a last leg decider. The division two, title went to West Heath CEM who beat Cue Club 6-3.
There was one rearranged division two league fixture played in which leaders E57 were held to a 4-4 draw playing away against Northfield Conservative Club ‘A’ who are four places below them in the table and have three fewer points.

Leader of the Heartlands Sugardarts M&E Co Double Top League, Ryan Cain began weeksix with a 3-0 win over Sue John, but then for the first time in eleven games he lost, going down 2-1 to Matthew Hoare, however he holds on to pole position with twenty-seven points, one more than second placed Steve Cain who replaces Clive Austin in the number two spot after he won 3-0 against Andrew Richmond and 2-1 against Brian Meer, Steve Cain having played one game less than Ryan Cain. Austin lost 2-1 to Jordan Rogers, who scored a maxumim, and then won by the same 2-1 scoreline against Charlie Rogers to leave him third in the table with twenty-five points, just two fewer than leader Ryan Cain.
Jordan Rogers not only hit a maximum against Clive Austin but also hit one against Matthew Hoare in his 3-0 win. Matthew Cain also scored a 180 in his 3-0 win over Emma Cain.

A 7-2 home win over Cabin ‘1’ keeps Quarry Bank Liberal Club top of the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League with forty-six points and a lead of four over their nearest rivals Red Cow ‘1’ who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Parkes Hall. Third in the league Gornal British Legion returned from Cabin ‘2’ on the right side of the 8-1 result to keep them within two points of Red Cow ‘1’ and two to the good on fourth placed Netherton Sports and Social Club who had a convincing 9-0 home win over Red Cow ‘2’.

Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ have played seven games in the Netherton Thursday Night 501 League and have won all seven the latest of which saw them win 8-1 at Townsend Social Club to keep intact their three points lead on second and third placed Old Liberal Club and British Oak who have both only played, and won six games. Old Liberal Club were 6-3 winners at fourth in the league Bulls Head while British Oak had a 7-2 success at Plough and Harrow.
Players hitting a maximum this week were Phil O’Brien (Bulls Head), Neil Murphy, Connor Pickett and Gavin Moreton (Old Liberal Club) plus Alex Homer (Haden Cross). David Hadlington (Haden Cross) had a maximum break of 170, Gary Male (Plough and Harrow) not far behind with his 160 break.

Old Star took their total points to ninety-nine from thirty-seven games in the Silver End Sunday Morning League with a 6-2 win at Ten Arches, keeping them eleven points ahead of second placed Dudley Sports ‘A’ who were held to a 4-4 home draw by their local rivals Dudley Sports ‘B’. Third placed High Acres ‘A’ are a further ten points adrift, a huge twenty-one points behind the leaders after they lost their home tie with Old Liberal Club 5-3.

There were just three rearranged fixtures played in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League which saw fourth in the league Bridge draw level on thirty-six points with third placed Raven, and still with a further game in hand after winning 6-3 at High Acres. A win in their other game in hand would see Bridge draw level on points with leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ but they would still be trailing heavily on average. Little Barrel were also 6-3 winners, playing at home against Rose and Crown ‘B’ while Rose and Crown ‘A’ had a narrow 5-4 win away to bottom of the league Tipton Sports and Social Club

With only six more fixtures to play in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League, leaders Chop House added a 6-1 win over their hosts Fox Inn (Lye) to their tally to give them fifty points from twenty-eight games and a lead of six over both second and third placed New Inns and Hollybush. New Inns also won 6-1, away to Plough ‘A’ while Hollybush, had a close 4-3 win at fourth placed Bird in Hand ‘E’ who are now ten points off the top with forty points as are fifth in the table Stourbridge FC ‘A’ after their 5-2 home win over Plough ‘B’.

The Stourbridge and District Monday Night League are up to week three of their season and of the twenty-two starters to the new campaign only five of them are able to boast a 100% win record. Cross top the table with a slender one leg of average lead on second placed Bird in Hand after they won 6-1 at High Acres and Bird in Hand won their home game with Queens Head (Wordsley) 5-2. Third placed Old Liberal Club are a further one leg of average short after they won 5-2 at Mount Pleasant to keep them one leg of average to the good on both fourth and fifth placed Five Ways and Gornal British Legion, the former winning 5-2 at Fox Inn (Lye) and the latter 5-2 at home over Hinksford Arms.

Week two in the Rowley Monday Night League and the toptwoplaces in division one remain as-you-were with Bell leading the way with a 5-4 home win over Whiteheath Tavern giving them a one leg of average advantage over Gate Hangs Well who beat Snooks 6-3, to see Snooks drop from third to sixth in the diviaion. The only other team not to have lost in the top division is Tividale FC who won their home tie with Rowley Labour Club 5-4.
Star Valley, are late-comers to division two, their entrance making it two twelve-team divisions in the league. Unfortunately it was not a good start for Star Valley as they lost 6-3 at Bostin Darts ‘B’ who top the table with a perfect four points from their opening two games. The leaders have a one leg of average lead on second placed Double Tops Micro Bar after they won 6-3 at Hasbury leaving them two legs to the good on third placed Bostin Darts ‘C’ who were 5-4 winners at Loyal Lodge.

After adding on their latest 3-2 home win over their nearest rivals, second placed Quarry Bank Liberal Club, Allen’s Bar ‘A’ lead the Black Country Men’s Super League with a total of 106 points, and now have a lead of fifteen over their opponents who have played two games fewer than the leaders. Third in the league Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club have only played twenty-six games, three less than the leaders and one less than Quarry Bank Liberal Club.

Jacqueline Maiden didn’t play in the latest round of fixtures in the West Midlands Ladies Super League and as a result has dropped from pole position to second on eighty-nine points from twenty-four games. Taking over at the top of the table is reigning champion Evonne Taylor, her 3-1 win over Kelly Aston and 3-0 success against Eloise Milburn giving her a total of ninety-three points from twenty-six games. Third in the league, Gemma Barrett had a 3-1 win against Hannah Davies to leave her on eighty-six points from twenty-six games.

Kings Head remain the only undefeated team in the West Midlands Men’s Super League after winning their fifth fixture, a home game against Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club 3-2. Second placed Staffordshire Knot have lost one of their five games but are still on the same nineteen points as the leaders after adding on their most recent 4-1 home win over Junction ‘A’. Third placed Dog and Partridge are four points short of the two teams above them after they also won 4-1 at home against Carrington Club.

Nick Fullwell held on to the number one spot in the Amblecote RBL Premier League in the best possible way by handing out 7-0 whitewashes to both Kian Rogers and Chris Pickett to put him on eighty-six points from twelve games with a lead of seven points over second and third placed Jason Lowe and Spike Green. Jason Lowe began with a similar 7-0 win over Chris Cox but then won 5-2 against fifth in the league Gavin Smith and although seven points behind Fullwell has one game in hand. Newcomer to the league Spike Green had 6-1 wins over both Sam Page and Robbie Hipkiss.

Simon Pritchard added a 5-3 win over Jimmy Handley in division one of the Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night Singles League, to take his tally to sixty-four points from eight games and gives him a seventeen points lead over second in the division Simon Mountford who was held to a 4-4 draw by Michael Smith. Third in the division Chris Manoila is a further four points adrift with forty-three points but both he and Mountford have two games in hand on Pritchard.
In division two Neville Quinton continue to lead the way, a 6-2 win over Wayne Barratt taking his points to forty-six with a four point’s advantage over second in the division, Michele Pritchard who has moved three places up the table after winning 6-2 against Jono Handley.

The Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League staged the second leg of thequarter-finals of their Knockout Cup and winning through to the semi-finals were Junction ‘B’, Junction ‘A’, Gilbert’s ‘B’ and Gilbert’s Bar ‘A’.
