After being held to a 4-4 draw last week by RAFA, this week Three Horse Shoes lost 6-2 to EBAHA and as a result have been knocked off pole position in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League. Saltely Gardeners, who beat EBAHA 5-3 last week added a convincing 7-1 win over Sheldon Heath Dukes to their tally to leapfrog the Shoes and take over the number one spot.
In group two Mackadown Social continue to lead the field winning this week 7-1 against Lea Hall SPorts and Social, whose D.Timmins hit a maximum, in group five R.Agar (Pavilions) was another player to hit 180 as his side finished all square at four each with Sheldon Shoes.

It’s congratulations to Robert Earl, who despite losing his last match of the Brookmeadow Individual League season 2-1 to Ricky Lawrence has won the championship with 131 points, eight more than his nearest rival Gordon Clinton, who won his last fixture against John Goodman 2-1. However, Gordon did get sweet revenge when he met Earl in the quarter finals of the league’s singles knockout and beat him 5-3. Clinton then went on to win 6-4 in the semi’s against John Whitehouse and win the title with a final 7-5 success over Brendan Lysaght.

In the Harborne and District Summer League, division one leaders Midland Red had a tremendous 8-1 win over the George to consolidate their position and extend their 100% record to nine straight wins. With 18 points the Red’s are four clear of second placed Raven, who had a 6-3 win at Hobsons Choice.
Only average separates the top two teams in the second division, Quinborne Flights, with a 6-3 home win over the Pheasant are five legs to the good on Coopers Arms, who in a rearranged fixture had a narrow 5-4 win over Quinton Members Club. There were also wins for the two top teams in the third division as top team Bartley Green Social Club Flights won 5-4 at Highlander Flights and Greenlands had a 7-2 success at the Old Mill ’B’.

It could not get any closer at the top of the Small Heath Summer League with three teams all on ten points after six games. The top two teams, Victoria 301 Club and Custard House are dead level, won 5, lost 1, 35 legs for and 19 against while third placed Station Hotel are seven legs adrift. All three won this week, Victoria beat Ward End Ex Service Club 8-1, Custard House won 6-3 at Victoria Flights and Station won 5-4 at the Gunmakers Arms.
Individual performances, Alan Caddick (Custard House) broke with 160, John Phipps (McVeighs) had a 150 checkout and a nine darts game.

Playing at home in division one of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League, Selly Oak Flights looked all set to chalk up a victory against E57 after taking a 3-2 lead. However, the visitors dug in their heels, won the remaining two games and claimed a 4-2 victory.
Division Three’s Solihull Municiple recorded the league’s biggest win of the week when they handed out a 7-0 whitewash to Shenley Lane. In the same division Bournbrook Arrows were not far behind with a 6-1 win over Moseley Cricket Club.
