The South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League have been playing their annual men and women’s knockouts, with all the proceeds going to St Mary’s Hospice. For the men it was the John Leek Knockout in which Greenlands provided the two finalists. The winner was Mel Ellis with Kevin Beard taking the runner’s up trophy. The ladies Evelyn Leek Knockout f9inal was an all Tascos Flights affair with Della Eaton taking the winners crown and her team mate Maddie Mann finishing in second place.

Warwickshire County Darts Organisation have been playing off their BDO Gold Cup Singles and Doubles Knockouts. Winning the men’s singles was Mark Hollyoake (Birmingham Midland Red) and the doubles Tommy Ryan (Bedworth Cherry Tree) and Steve Dwyer (Birmingham Hall Green). In the ladies events Clare Bywaters (Leamington Spa) took the honours in the singles, while the doubles title went to Viki Byrne and Lesley Newcombe representing Birmingham Central.
All winners will now go forward to the Great Britain finals at the Lakeside Country Club, Surrey on Saturday 17th July.

In the Brookmeadow Individual League, leader Robert Earl suffered his second defeat in 17 games. Playing against fifth placed Alan Smith, Earl lost by the odd best of three legs, however, he then went on to beat Gareth Lomas 3-0 to give him 73 points. Second placed Gordon Clinton had a similar 3-0 win over Paul Hogan to leave him just eight points behind earl with a game in hand.
In the league’s quarter finals of their singles competition there were 5-0 wins for Brendan Lysaght and John Whitehouse over respective opponents Trevor Frost and Pat Koyce. Other players to progress to the last four were Mark Elkin and Gordon Clinton, Clinton gaining an impressive 5-3 win over current league leader Robert Earl.

It was 180’s galore in the Sheldon and District Summer League with no fewer than thirteen being hit this week. Supplying the maximums were, K.Moloney (Saltley Amateur Gardeners), M.Heaven (Three Horse Shoes), J.Evans 2 (Glebe Community Centre), A.Grainger (EBAHA), J.Cartmell (RAFA), P.Sinnett, F.Goldbey (Malt Shovel), K.Brush (Shard End RBL ‘A’), S.Fletcher (Sheldon Social), B.Mason (Yarldey Ex Service), S.Hazlett (Millhouse) and M.Powers (Shard End Social).

Congratulations to John McCaffrey (Innisfree) who in his teams fixture against the Gunmakers Arms in the Small Heath Summer League recorded a magnificent 170 maximum break, his team went on to win 5-4.
