Fixtures for game eight in the UKDA National League Cosmo Darts Premier Division saw the top two teams Yorkshire and Lancashire hold on to their respective first and second places in the table, however with leaders Yorkshire after being held to an 18-18 draw away to Warwickshire and Lancashire winning their home tie with London 22-14 have had their lead reduced from eighteen to twelve points. Going into their game at Warwickshire, Yorkshire were some thirty-four points to the good on their fifth placed hosts, a draw being a great achievement for Warwickshire and seeing them move up one place in the table to fourth with a game in hand on the top two teams, they are now thirty-four and twenty-two points behind respective Yorkshire and Lancashire. As a result of their defeat by Lancashire, London have dropped to bottom of the table with 116 points, nine fewer than Essex who were previously bottom of the table but moved up one place following their superb 19-17 win away to third in the table Lincolnshire who are now twenty-nine points behind Yorkshire.
On the individual scene the top averages went to, for the men’s ‘A’ Liam Meek (Glamorgan) who beat Hampshire’s Andy Jurd 4-1 and had a 31.99 average, for the men’s ‘B’ it was another Liam, this time Liam Willis (Essex) who had a 30.36 average in his 4-0 win over Lincolnshire’s Tony Hill. For the ladies, Louise Pearson (Hertfordshire) topped the averages for the ‘A’ with her 24.64 and 3-0 win over Dorset’s Donna Mabbatt-Smith, while for the ladies ‘B’, Suzy Trickett (Dorset) beat Jo Kitchen (Hertfordshire) 3-1 and averaged 21.79.
The results from game eight in the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division saw the top two teams swap places, Cambridgeshire slipping to second place after losing 24-12 away to Kent who move up the table three places to fifth on 141 points while Cambridgeshire’s 162 points are five short of new leaders Humberside after their 18-18 draw away to fourth placed Suffolk who have 154 points. The two top teams have both played eight games while the nine teams below them all have games in hand on them. No change in the bottom two teams, Cheshire who are at the foot of the table had a 24-12 home win over third placed Sussex and although still in the bottom position have at least one game in hand on all of the teams above them. Next to bottom Staffordshire lost 20-16 at Northamptonshire and are sixteen points behind the team just above them Derbyshire.
A 31.81 average for Mick Cooper (Staffordshire) was the highest for the men’s ‘A’, Cooper winning 4-0 against Northamptonshire’s Chris Jones. Ben Poulton (Suffolk) topped the men’s ‘B’ averages with 29.10 in his 4-1 win over Humberside’s Michael Oxtoby, Tyler Mason (Gwent) narrowly missing out with a 29.04 average. Oxfordshire’s Karen Williams had the best average for the ladies ‘A’, her 22.77 and 3-0 win over Caitlin Manley (Gwent) earning her he accolade. The ladies ‘B’ top average was 19.93 and was achieved by Cheshire’s Lyn Marsden who beat Disney Dunbar (Sussex) 3-2.
In the latest round of fixtures in the L-Style Division One, Clwyd had a bye and as a result lost pole position and dropped to sixth with 145 points from seven games. A 25-11 home win over Berkshire has seen Middlesex once again return to the top of the table with 170 points from their seven games and their nearest rivals, Merseyside move up from third place to second following their 22-14 win at Devon. There is no change in the bottom four places, Buckinghamshire at the foot of the table with 105 points after losing 19-17 at home to Leicestershire, fifteen points above them come Devon and with just eight more points on 128 is Cleveland who have played eight games. Leicestershire make up the bottom four, they have 141 points.
Leicestershire had the highest men’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ averages with Jason Lole (32.32) taking the ‘A’ and Ian Turner (29.91) the ‘B’, in turn beating Buckinghamshire’s Steve McLeod 4-0 and Craig Cox also 4-0. Vickie Kiely (Middlesex) had the top ladies ‘A’ average of 22.88 in her 3-2 win over Berkshire’s Kelly Ellis. Zoe Holland (Cleveland) had an 18.56 average in her ‘B’ team game against Kelly Doleman (West Midlands) which she won 3-0.
It’s as-you-were at the top of division two with Worcestershire holding on to pole position with a 26-10 home win over County Durham and second placed Salopian, despite losing 21-15 at home to Nottinghamshire, remaining second with 146 points, twenty fewer than Worcestershire after starting the weekend just six points short of the leaders. The win for Nottinghamshire has seen them move up two places to third on the same 146 points as Salopian. No change in the bottom five places in the table, all of the teams having played seven fixtures and from the bottom up there is Gwynedd with 113 points, Wiltshire 117, Cumbria 128, Surrey 134 and Northumberland 136, all five now fighting for survival.
James Chaplin (Salopian) had the highest men’s ‘A’ average of 31.26 in his 4-2 win over Nottinghamshire’s Paul Harvey, while the best average for the ‘B’ games went to Noel Coward (Gwynedd) who beat Cumbria’s Colin Hargrave 4-3. The ladies ‘A’ and ‘B’ top averages went to Sophie Hadley (Worcestershire) and Kaylea Riley (Nottinghamshire), Hadley (23.48) winning 3-0 against Laura Patton (County Durham) and Riley (22.77) having the same 3-0 result against Salopian’s Tammy Walmsley.
A 21-15 away win over Breconshire keeps Norfolk top of division three with 187 points, they have a lead of twenty-three over a rejuvenated Shropshire side whose huge 32-4 win at Isle of Wight has seen them take over the number two spot from West of England who won 23-13 at Pembrokeshire. There is no change in the division’s bottom three teams, the big defeat for Isle of Wight seeing them remain rooted at the foot of the table with 72 points, twenty-nine short of the team just above them Montgomery and Radnor who in turn are just six points short of the team above them Pembrokeshire.
Divisional leaders Norfolk scooped up three of the four top averages as their Darren Brown topped the men’s ‘A’ with 30.19 in his 4-1 win over Breconshire’s Stuart Hossack, Roz Bulmer took the ladies ‘A’ with her 19.55 average and 3-2 win against Chris Sheen and Elaine Blackett topped the ladies ‘B’ charts with her 18.54 average in a 3-1 win over Sally Urwin. The men’s ‘B’ top player was shared by Shropshire’s Justin Evans and Isle of Wight’s Joe Hunt, Evans winning 4-0 against Paul Thomas (Isle of Wight) and Hunt beating Paul Harrison (Shropshire) 4-0.

Warwickshire’s seventh fixture in the UKDA National League’s Cosmo Darts Premier Division was a tough home game against current divisional leaders Yorkshire who began the day with 161 points from seven games whereas Warwickshire were on 127 and placed fifth.
The weekend could not have got off to a much worse start for the home team as their opponents stormed into a winning 5-0 lead with wins from Ann Waslin, Linda Moorhouse, Jayne Conboy, Jane Hawtin and Michelle Binns who in turn defeated Denise Keyte (3-0), Kacie O’Connor (3-0), Courtney Hine (3-2), Jodie Rigg (3-1) and Nina Bolt (3-2). The final game saw Warwickshire get their one and only winner when Caroline Pike beat Sonia Porter 3-1 to take the lady of the match award for her 20.12 average.
Trailing 5-1 the hosts now required a decent result from the men’s ‘A’ match but it didn’t begin too well as Yorkshire’s Sam Spivey won 4-2 against Ryan Jackson and Adi Morris beat Lloyd Jackson by the same 4-2 margin. William Naylor stopped the visitors charge as he won the third game against Graham Elvidge 4-1 but the away team’s two games buffer was restored in the fourth when Ash Taylor won 4-3 against Mark Carter. Lee Miller pulled one back for Warwickshire in the fifth with his 4-2 win over John Walton, however by the midway point the away side were leading 4-2 after Steve Blower added his 4-0 win against Karl Reynolds to their tally.
Mark Martin (Warwickshire) fell behind three times in his game with Mick Ridge but he won the seventh and final leg to seal a 4-3 win. By the eighth game the score was level at 4-4 as Jnr Joyce, after trailing 2-0 to Jack Hill went on to win 4-3 with scores in the deciding leg of 100, 139, 132 and a 130 game shot for a superb 4-3 victory which at the end of the day earned Joyce the man of the match award for his 28.70 average. Adam Hancock went 1-0 down to Tony Calvert and was pegged back to 3-3 after leading 3-1 but with a win in the final leg he won 4-3 and for the first time in the match Warwickshire were leading with the score at 5-4. Mark Strong opened up leads of 1-0 and 2-1 against Darren Weaver but it was Weaver who won the last three legs for a 4-3 win to level the game at 5-5. A draw for Warwickshire was assured in the penultimate game as Jack Wareing beat James Robins 4-3 and the win looked to be on the cards as anchor-man Dave Hill opened up leads of 1-0 and 2-1 against James Waite but with wins in the last three legs it was Waite who got the 4-3 result and at the same time he earned his team-mates a share of the points with the final score at 6-6.
For the ladies ‘A’, it was a complete turn-around from the ladies ‘B’ game as Warwickshire raced into an unassailable winning 4-0 lead. Kirsty Hinchliffe got the ball rolling when she opened up with a straight 3-0 win over Emma Lockwood, lady of the match Natalie Gilbert doubled the lead when she also handed out a straight 3-0 defeat to Sally Whiting with a 22.43 average. Moving the score along to 3-0 was Wendy Adams who had a 3-1 success against Jody Hancock and with a further 3-0 win for Hannah Meek against Taylor Field the game was won. Yorkshire got their one and only stripe on the board in the fifth when Marie Fitton won 3-0 against Donna Pinch but with a final 3-1 victory for Marian Conway over Linda Porter the result was 5-1 to Warwickshire.
Going into the men’s ‘A’ game the overall score was level at 12-12 with both teams having everything to play for.
Yorkshire got the better of the first half going 2-0 up when Lewis Pride won 4-3 against Wayne Mynard and Keith Flint beat Steve Hine 4-0. Danny Lauby turned on a man of the match display against Tony Darlow beating him 4-0 in 15,17,14 and 19 darts to earn him the match award for his 30.83 average. The visitors then won another two in a row as Tony Molyneux and Dan Outwin in turn won 4-2 against Kevin Dowling and Gareth Braham before the half was closed with a win for Nigel Heydon (Warwickshire) who got the better of Josh Clough in a seven legs affair.
The second half got underway with the hosts trailing 4-2, the deficit halved as Samuel Price won 4-3 against Sam Spivey but from 4-3 down the home side then found themselves trailing 6-3 and within an ace of defeat as Andy Harland beat Sam Whittaker 4-2 and Alex Jacques won 4-3 against Matty Washbrooke. Now with their backs to the wall Jamie Hughes kept Warwickshire in the game beating Garry Simpson 4-1 with winning legs of 20,17,18 and 13 darts to see him narrowly miss out on the match award with a 30.81 average. Martin Tonks took the result to the final game when in the penultimate encounter he came from one down against Brian Hallas to go on and win 4-2. Last on for Warwickshire was Noel Grant and for Yorkshire, Martin C. Atkins. Atkins won the opening two legs in 19 and 17 darts only to see Grant bounce back and take the following four legs in 15,17,21 and 21 darts to clinch a 4-2 personal win, a 6-6 draw for his team and an overall result for the weekend of 18-18.
Warwickshire were made to fight all the way for what was a tremendous draw which sees them move up one place in the table to fourth on 146 points, twenty-two points short of second placed Lancashire but with a game in hand.

Maxine Prosser (Black Country) was taken to a deciding leg by Donna Gullock and won 3-2, the final game also going to a decider and yet again the result went to the Black Country as Doreen Hunt beat Karen Littler to put the result all-square at 3-3.
Going into the men’s ‘A’ game Black Country had a 14-10 overall lead and only required five winners for an overall victory for the weekend.

Going into their seventh fixture in the UKDA National League’s L-Style Division One, West Midlands were lying seventh in the table and playing hosts to second from bottom of the division Cleveland, a win for the home team vital to lift them further away from the relegation zone.
On first for the ladies ‘B’ was Kat McLean who gave her team the early lead when she won 3-1 against Leanne Witten. The lead only lasted until the very next game as Cleveland’s Zoe Holland added her 3-0 win against Kelly Doleman to level the game. The home side went ahead again in the third with a lady of the match performance from Shellbie Simmons who with a 3-1 result beat Sonia Mager with an 18.17 average. The game was squared for a second time in the fourth when Sam Dixon (Cleveland) beat Sarah Maybury 3-1 and with further 3-1 results for Claire Stamper and Shirley Witten over respective opponents Hannah Davies and Julie Emery the visitors won the tie 4-2.
Although Anthony Whitehouse (West Midlands) lost the opening game of the men’s ‘B’ match to Brian Henderson 4-3, the hosts quickly recovered to open up a big lead at the halfway mark. Three 4-1 wins from Kieran O’Mahoney, Ian Stanton and Dean Simmons-Fullwood against respective opponents Graham Palmer, Cameron Nicholson and Mick Costello put the home team 3-1 up and with a 4-3 win for Ryan Locker against Ben Robinson plus a 4-2 success for Mark Curley over Colin Foxton, West Midlands men’s ‘B’ had a commanding lead of 5-1.
The run continued as the second session got underway, Martin Price beating Tony Liddell 4-1 and with a similar 4-1 result Karl Hughes accounted for Gareth Cox to put the home side into an unassailable 7-1 lead. Cleveland chalked up their second winner in the ninth when Chris Sheraton won 4-3 against Adam Teasdale but that turned out to be their final winner as Chris Slater beat Matty Busby 4-2, man of the match Will Beaden, with a straight 4-0 result and 26.72 average defeated Jake Harland and rounding off a superb 10-2 victory was Callum Parkes with his 4-1 win over Mac Chahal.
The ladies ‘A’ opened up a 2-0 lead when Gemma Barrett and Tara Simmons-Fullwood in turn defeated Vanessa Dickinson and Sonia Mager 3-1. Carla Boyes was Cleveland’s first winner when she beat Claire Hobbs, once again the result 3-1. Jodie Rowlands made sure of at the worst a share of the points when she beat Frances Elwick 3-2 before the game was taken to a decider when Amy Thomas won 3-2 against Jacqueline Maiden, however the 4-2 win was achieved in the final game for West Midlands when lady of the match Evonne Taylor beat Zoe Holland 3-2 with a 19.56 average.
Just three wins were now required from the men’s ‘A’ game to ensure an overall victory and one of those came in the very first game when Rob Thompson beat Ray Hutchinson 4-3. West Midlands lead lasted for just the one game as Rob Grundy won 4-3 against Darren Williams and Jamie Owens beat Dean Simmons-Fullwood 4-0 to put Cleveland 2-1 up. The hosts moved to within an ace of victory as the second half got underway with wins from Jack Aldridge, Gavin Baker and Richard Platt who defeated respective opponents Paul Allen (4-2), Matthew Helyer (4-1) and Dave Hunter (4-1). Geoffrey Burdon delayed the win for the Midlanders when he beat Neil Pointon 4-1 but a similar 4-1 win for man of the match Dan Nicholls, who had a 28.84 average in his 4-1 win against David Coverdale put the result beyond the visitors reach. The last game of the weekend went to Cleveland when Colin Peacock won 4-3 against Daniel Hands to put the final score at 7-5 to the West Midlands men’s ‘A’.
The overall 23-13 win for the West Midlands saw them move three places up the table to fourth with 148 points just eleven short of second placed Merseyside with everything still to play for.

Salopian went into their seventh fixture in division two of the UKDA National League lying second in the division, six points short of leaders Worcestershire and nine to the good on their visitors Nottinghamshire who were placed fifth.
The ladies ‘B’ game began badly as the first three Salopian players all lost 3-0 with Kaylea Riley, Heather Bishop and Jenny White all winning in turn against Tammy Walmsley, Paula Davies and Helen Walmsley to put Nottinghamshire into an unassailable 3-0 lead. Lady of the match Anna Peatroy stopped the rot in the fourth when she won 3-2 against Nicola Wing with a 14.18 average. Peatroy’s win however only delayinged the outcome as Ronnie Johnson added her 3-1 win over Rachael Mooney to Nottingham’s tally to confirm their win. The last game saw the home side get their second winner to make the final score a more respectable 4-2, Stacey Pepperell winning 3-0 against Julie Wilson.
Like the ladies ‘B’ the men’s ‘B’ didn’t have the best of starts as Nottinghamshire opened up with wins in the first two games, Andy Russell winning 4-0 against Paul Ashworth and Christian Shepherd getting the narrow 4-3 verdict over Carl Wear. Despite the early setback, the score was level at two each by the fourth as Jamie Kynaston beat Micky Stocks 4-1 and by the same margin Dean Stokes won against Steve Johnson. The last two games of the first half both went to Nottinghamshire, Lewis Spacey and Pete McConville in turn winning 4-1 against James Jenkins and Matt Williams to put the away side 4-2 up.
Two games into the second half and Salopian were back on level terms as Ben Bevan won 4-2 against James Hewitt and Mick Unsworth beat Richard Bloomfield 4-1. Chris Scott gave the visitors a 5-4 lead with his 4-0 win over Ian Bride only to see the game levelled once again as Danny Humphries added his 4-3 win over Wes Deane to the hosts tally. Putting the away side within an ace of victory and erasing any thoughts of a win for the home team was Martin Whatmough who had a 4-1 win against Steve O’Callaghan in the penultimate game. Nevertheless the result was a 6-6 draw as Salopian’s man of the match Jamie Chaplin won 4-1 against John Heslin with a 27.27 average.

With Nottinghamshire having a 15-9 lead the home side’s men’s ‘A’ required a 9-3 win to earn just a share of the points. They began well with a man of the match showing from Jamie Chaplin who had a 4-2 win over Paul Harvey, Chaplin having a superb average of 31.26. The lead was quickly reversed as Charlie Stocks won 4-3 against Kacey Jones and Luke Almond beat Eddie Price 4-1. By the same 4-1 margin Gary Crowther levelled the score when he defeated Damion Beardsley and with a further 4-2 win for Mark Crutchley over James Parkin, Salopian were back in front with the score at 3-2. The last game of the half went to the away team, Richard Hughes winning 4-3 against Ash Hilditch to put the score level at the halfway stage at 3-3.
The hosts went ahead once again as the second half got underway, Paul Rowley beating Rob Stansbury 4-3 and with Jon Mansell winning 4-0 against James Hewitt, Salopian were 5-3 up. Marc Dewsbury (Nottinghamshire) had a 4-1 win against Andy Evans and restoring parity in the tenth was Tom Allies with his 4-3 win over Dave Bayton. A 4-3 win from Terry Nash against Jack Kerr kept the home side still on course for the win, but it was not to be as Pete McConville won the last game of the weekend against Andy Gilbert 4-2 to put the result level at 6-6.
The overall result for the weekend was 21-15 to Nottinghamshire, but despite the defeat Salopian held on to the number two spot in the division with 146, their opponents drawing level on the same number of points in third place following their victory. Both teams are twenty points behind leaders Worcestershire who won their home fixture with County Durham 26-10.
