Darts News – A West Midlands Round Up
With only three more fixtures to play in the premier league of the Sheldon and District Winter League, leaders Sheldon Marlborough Arrows moved another step closer to clinching the title with an 8-1 victory playing away against Mackadown Sports and Social Club. The win takes the top team’s points tally to twenty-four and keeps them two points to the good on second placed Langley Arrows who with a 160 finish from Paul Nixon, recorded a 7-2 win at home against third in the division Raven Arrows who are now eight points short of the victors but with two games in hand.
No change in the top three places in division one with Smithswood Social Club adding a close 5-4 win away to third placed Yardley Ex Colts, who are six points behind their opponents. Second placed Old Salts Darts, with a maximum from Danny Chiswell, had an 8-1 win at Iron Horse Rebels, and with both of the top two teams having four more games to play Smithswood have a four points advantage over Old Salts. Fourth in the division Kingshurst Labour Club whose Ben Proctor notched a maximum, won 5-4 at home against Langley Flights, they are on the same sixteen points as Yardley Ex Colts but from one game fewer after they won 5-4 at home against Langley Flights.
Leaders of division two Sheldon Marlborough Flights had a close 5-4 home win over Digby, but despite the narrow victory they opened up a two points lead at the top of the table as their nearest rivals Moseley Rugby Club had their fixture with Lyndon Old Boys postponed but the Rugby Club have played the same twelve games as the leaders. Third and fourth placed Raven and Lyndon Old Boys are both on twelve points, Raven winning 7-2 At home against bottom placed Langley Pints, Stuart Reeve recording a ten darts game for Raven while Lyndon Old Boys have only played nine games and have three in hand on all of the three teams above them, wins in those games would see Lyndon Old Boys go level on points with the divisional leaders Sheldon Marlborough Flights,

In their home game in division one of the Four Oaks and District League, leaders Highcroft Hotdogs were held to a somewhat surprisingly narrow 5-4 win by Charley’s Flights who are just two places off the foot of the table. Nevertheless it was a win and with twenty-five points it keeps them three points clear of second placed Nomads @ Hollyfields who won their home game against Red Lion 6-3 and have played one game fewer than the leaders. Old Horns Lions and Walmley CSC Flights make up the top four, Old Horns Lions with a 160 break for Jason Greaves having a 7-2 home win over Plough and Arrows to put them on eighteen points, the same number that fourth in the division Walmley CSC Flights are on but from two games less than Old Horns, despite losing 5-4 at Old Oscott Arrows.
A 5-4 home win over Sutton Sharks sees Drakes Drum hold on to pole position in division two with twenty-four points from fourteen games. Second placed Erdington Arrows have only played thirteen games and are four points behind the leaders after their latest 8-1 home win over Deer’s Leap. Third and fourth placed Rosey Mac’s and St Thomas Arrows are both on the same twenty points as Erdington Arrows but have both played two games more than them. In their latest fixtures Rosey Mac’s lost 8-1 at Pint Pot Flights while St Thomas Arrows chalked up a 5-4 win at Beggars Bush

With a break of 160 from N.Prosser and a 5-3 win at third placed Northfield Darts Club, Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’ remain top of the division one table in the South West Birmingham Clubs League with sixteen points, four more than second and third placed Longbridge United and Northfield Darts Club. Longbridge United were 7-2 home winners over Bournbrook.
Northfield Darts Club top the division one pre-match doubles league with ninety-nine points and have a lead of seven over second placed Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’.
Quarry Lane Club had a 5-3 win away to next to bottom of division E57 to take their points at the top of the division two table to seventeen with a five points lead on their nearest rivals Perfection who were held to a 4-4 draw playing away against fourth in the division Northfield Conservative Club ‘A’.
Quarry Lane Club are also top of the pre-match doubles table with ninety-three points, five more than second placed Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club.

Half of the fixtures in the Camp Hill League were postponed this week including the top of the table clash between leaders Wakefield Warriors and Erdington Nomads. In the games played Moseley Arms downward trend continues after losing 4-3 at home to Wakefield Terriers. There was one surprising result and that was of Sedgemere Devils winning 4-3 away to third in the table Roost Bosh while the Devils moved off the foot of the table to be replaced by Roost Rebels.

After the opening six fixtures have been completed in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League, just two legs of average separate the top two teams, Allen’s Bar remain top of the table with a 6-1 win at Sow and Pigs with Vine ‘A’ are second after their similar 6-1 win at Tamebridge. After the top two, Cottage Spring and Sandwell are both on ten points, two fewer than the two top sides after Cottage Spring lost their home tie with Sandwell 5-2.
There are three teams still seeking their first points of the season, Horseley Tavern ‘A’, King Arthur and Royal Yeomanry who in turn lost to Tipton Sports (4-3), Three Horseshoes (6-1) and Ivy Bush (4-3).

The Stourbridge and District Monday Night League are up to game eight of their new campaign and only two of the starting line-up of nineteen teams are able to boast a 100% win record. Ten Arches ‘A’ had 4-3 home win over netherton Conservative Club to keep them top of the table with a perfect sixteen points, second and third placed Gornal British Legion and Old Liberal Club are both on fourteen points with the latter having played and won seven games. Gornal British legion won their home tie with Raven ‘A’ 7-0 while Old Liberal Club were 6-1 winners at Crestwood.
At the other end of the table, Glasscutters ‘B’, Glassworks and Raven ‘B’ are all without a point so far, Glasscutters ‘B’ losing 5-2 at home to Ten Arches ‘B’, Glassworks handed a 7-0 whitewash at home to Seven Stars and Raven ‘B’ going down 6-1 at home to Ashwood.

New Inn 2 consolidated their number one spot in the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League with an 8-1 home win over Baggeridge Social to maintain their two point’s advantage over second in the league Mount Pleasant who won 7-2 away to bottom of the table Cabin. Third placed Netherton Sports and Social Club are on the same twenty-four points as Mount Pleasant and trail them by just four legs of average after they handed their visitors, Royal, an 8-1 defeat. Gornal British Legion are fourth on twenty-two points, they had a bye this week and have two games in hand on both Mount Pleasant and Netherton Sports and Social Club, should they win those games they will go second in the league on the same twenty-six points as New Inn 2 but from one game more than them.

With ten of the teams in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League having completed thirty-five games with nine more to play and the remainder having played thirty-four games, leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ added a 7-2 win over their local rivals Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘B’ to their account to take their points to sixty-four with a lead of eight over second placed Bridge who had surprisingly close 5-4 home win over Tommy Turners ‘A’ who are bottom of the table with just one win from their thirty-four games. Maverick and Old Bush are third and fourth respectively and in turn they lost 5-4 at home to High Acres ‘A’ and lost 5-4 away to Rose and Crown ‘A’, Old Bush have a game in hand on Maverick.

Wonder made it eight consecutive wins in the Rowley Monday Night League when they won 6-3 away to Huntingtree, the win giving them a perfect sixteen points plus a lead of two over reigning champions Bell who were also 6-3 winners in their home game against Gate Hangs Well with S.Price notching a maximum for Bell. After the top two teams come a trio of teams all on twelve points, four off the top, and they are Tividale FC, Rowley Labour Club and Snooks. Tividale FC lost ground as they went down 5-4 at home to Snooks while Rowley Labour Club were 5-4 winners at Spring Meadow. The Vine lost their game at home against Tividale Sports 6-3 with M.Preedy hitting a maximum for the Vine.

Yvonne Taylor is enjoying a great start to the West Midlands Ladies Super League having won all of her fourteen games so far and although she didn’t play in the latest round of fixtures she remains top of the table with fifty-six points and has a two points lead, plus two games in hand on second placed Gemma Barrett who added a straight 3-0 win over Sarah Maybury to her account. Third in the league Kat McLean had 3-0 wins over both Jacqui Simmons and Kath Jenkins to take her to within ten points of second placed Barrett with a total of four games in hand. Reigning champion Jacqueline Maiden was another player to add two straight 3-0 wins to her tally as she accounted for Tara Simmons-Fullwood and Sam Rowley to see her move up three places in the table to fourth on forty-one points with games in hand on the top two players.

With Cayden Smith not playing this week in the Amblecote RBL Premier League, former leader Jason Lowe took full advantage to replace him at the top of the table. Lowe began with a 6-1 win over bottom of the table Chris Cox and rounded off the night handing out a 7-0 whitewash to Jon Underhill to give him a total of 118 points from eighteen games. Ian Townsend moved up from fourth to second place with three games in which he won 6-1 against both Mark Nassralla and Tom Hanson before losing his final game against Grant Jackson 4-3 to put him on 107 points, again from eighteen games. Third in the league Nick Fullwell is also in 107 points but from seventeen games and his latest outing saw him beat Pete Illic 7-0 and Kian Rogers 4-3. Former leader Cayden Smith drops to fourth place on 106 points with games in hand on all three players above him. As already mentioned Chris Cox is bottom of the table, he has played eighteen games and lost them all, could this coming week see him get a win under his belt?

Scott Baker made it nine wins in as many games in division one of the Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night Singles League when he won 7-1 against Justin Evans to give him seventy-four points. Simon Mountford moved up one place in the table to second with his 5-3 win against Mark Zambra to leave him ten points short of Baker with sixty-four points, Zambra placed third has sixty-two points but from ten games.
Michael Smith tops division two with eighty points from ten games, the latest of which saw him win 7-1 against Jon Williams. Reece Cook Lucas didn’t play this week but remains second with sixty-six points from eight games with third placed Richard Brown on sixty-five form nine games after he lost 6-2 to Ben Wright.
Olly Garratt is way out in front in division three with eighty-four points from ten games after he added his latest result which was 7-1 win over Alex Bryant. Gareth Walsh had a 6-2 win over Sarah Barrett to put him in second place with sixty-eight points from the same ten games as Garratt but he is some sixteen points short of the leader.

The Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League played off the first leg of the quarter-finals of their Knockout Cup and Corpus Christi ‘A’ will be taking the biggest lead into the second leg after having a 6-1 result at Milestone. All of the other three games finished with a 5-2 scorelines with wins for Gilbert’s Bar ‘A’, Hotshots and Junction ‘B’ who accounted for their respective opponents Gilbert’s Bar ‘B, Golden Lion and Junction ‘C’.
