Steve Hine has finished the Belgrave Social Individual League with a bang. Last week he defeated second placed Scott Mitton 2-1. This week, by the same scoreline he beat leader Steve Dwyer. Despite the defeat Dwyer, with a total of 110 points has won the championship. Although Mitton completed his fixture list with a 3-0 success over Richie Baker, giving him 106 points, last week’s loss has cost him the runners up spot. Second place has gone to the man who had the all important run of wins in the closing stages, Steve Hine, who amassed 108 points.

Two of this week’s fixtures produced four maximums. Gordon Clinton and Lance Thompson grabbed one each in a 2-1 win for Thompson and there was one a piece for Steve Hawkes and John Green in a match that included a further six three figure scores for Green plus a thirteen darts leg, and four scores of a ton or more for Hawkes. Green got the 2-1 verdict. Gordon Clinton hit another 180 in his 2-1 win against Derek Fardon, Gary Mills and Darren Jones also hit the top shot.

In division two of the Harborne and District Summer League, Punchbowl completed their season on a high. After playing eleven of their twelve games they were without a win to their name, but in the final encounter, against fourth in the table Travellers Rest they chalked up a surprising 5-4 away win, D.Ubhi producing a 160 break for the winners. In the same division leaders Smethwick Labour Club travelled to take on third placed Avenue Social. The result was high scoring affair with T.Morton and D.Harris both hitting a 180 for Avenue, while V.Gould notched one for Smethwick, but the most important statistic was the 6-3 result which went in favour of Smethwick to give them 22 points, eight more than their nearest rivals, Hobsons Choice who recorded a resounding 8-1 win over the Pheasant.

B.Cowan (George) hit a maximum as his side beat Hillyfields 6-3 in division one.

Ken Grimes was in top form for his team Sheldon Heath Social Dukes in the finals of the Sheldon and District Summer League’s Mrs F.Richman Trophy. In the semi finals Grimes hit a 180 as the Dukes beat group three’s Shard End RBL Flights 6-1. He then repeated the feat in a 4-3 win in the final against league champions Three Horse Shoes.

Man of the match award in the final went to Three Horse Shoes man Ian Spencer, who levelled the match at 3-3 with an eleven darts leg.

On the league front league titles went to, Three Horse Shoes (Group One), Glebe Community Centre (Group Two), Dovecote (Group Three), Shard End RBL ’A’ (Group Four), Victoria Social (Group Five), Sheldon and Marlboro (Group Six). Players who completed the season without losing were J.Evans (Glebe Community Centre), J.Pears (Dovecote), M.O’Sullivan (Horseshoes), E.Kennedy (Sheldon and Marlboro).
