Farringdon Social provided the biggest shock of the week in the Forest of Arden Winter League when they defeated high riding Glades 5-4. Farringdon in nineteen previous outings had only won two games, while Glades had won thirteen of their nineteen. C.Grimes (Glades) recorded a 160 break.
Despite a 180 from N. (Paddy) McCrave Hobs Meadow Mixes still finished on the wrong side of a 6-3 result against league leaders Highwood Arrows. Richard Taylor (Hobs Meadow) chalked up an eight darts leg in his side’s 6-3 verdict over Three Horse Shoes.

What a season Mark Hollyoake has had in the Belgrave Social Individual League. After being confirmed as champion he took part in the league’s play off’s for the singles and doubles competitions. In the singles he progressed through to the final following close results against Colin Farrington and Martin Brown in the quarter and semi finals respectively. Nevertheless, Hollyoake won through the best of thirteen legs final against Mick Smith, finishing as 7-3 victor.
In the doubles Hollyoake teamed up with Ian Gould, the duo dropping just two legs on their way to the final. Their last opponents were Lance Thompson and Mick Chater, but nothing or no one was going to stop Hollyoake chalking up a fantastic treble as he and Gould went on to win 5-3.

The Sheldon and District Summer league got underway, St Annes winning their opening premier division game against Hobs Meadow by 9-0. Highwood and Fordbridge Social were not far behind St Annes as they each recorded 8-1 victories in turn against the Raven and Iron Horse.
In division one Glebe Community Centre were the biggest winners, defeating Shard End RBL 8-1. Results were much closer in the second division, Victoria Social and Sedgemere Flights beating respective opponents Yardley Ex Service and Lea Hall Sports and Social 5-4. Sheldon Shoes had a 6-3 win at Shannons.

Second in the Small Heath league table, Custard House, have one remaining fixture to play against the Gunmakers. However the result is immaterial as Heartlands, on 26 points have a far superior average and cannot be caught by Custard House, and in turn third placed Gunmakers are ten points adrift of Custard House and will finish third.

The Longwood league have been involved in their Open Cup which, was split into two sections. The first eight teams played down to the final with Red Lion ’A’ and Queens ’A’ the two remaining teams. In the second eight play off , winning through were the Gate Inn and the Jolly Sailor.

The Harborne and District League have staged their first Ladies Knockout. It proved to be a huge success with Leanne McDonald (W.C WMC) taking the title. Runner up was Hobsons Choice representative Emma Hill, with Lyn Grant (Avenue) and Lea Pythian (Highlander Ladies) the losing semi finalists.
