Two 2-1 wins over Ricky Lawrence and Mick Bagley has taken Robert Mills to the top of the Belgrave Social Individual League with 79 points. Former leader Mick Smith did not play and is now in second place with a game in hand and just one point adrift. Third in the table Mark Hollyoake, despite losing 2-1 to Darren White, has narrowed the gap between him and Mills to seven points with a 3-0 win against Mark Slater. Hollyoake has played two fixtures fewer than Mills.

Hitting maximums this week are, Andy Hanslow, Phil Jones, Derek Fardon, Ian Gould, Steve Hawkes, Raj Singh, Martin Brown, Ricky Lawrence and Gordon Clinton.

Midland Red have won the division one title in the Harborne and District Winter League. A close 5-4 verdict at home to the Raven gives the Red’s 22 points, four more than second placed Bell, with only one fixture remaining. Bell won their home tie with Bartley Green Social Club 6-3.

The division two title is being fought out between Smethwick Labour Club and the Hillyfields, who are both on 20 points. Smethwick played at Avenue Social and won 5-4, while Hillyfields, also playing away, beat the Pheasant 6-3.In division three there were 7-2 wins for both the Cock Inn and Village Stump, who in turn defeated Highlander Flights and Stonehouse.

Heartlands Clun extended their unbeaten run in the Small Heath League to eight games when they handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Ward End Ex Service Club. The vital second and third placed game between Gunmakers and Custard House was postponed, but Custard House are four points adrift and Gunmakers eight.

The Heartlands Club, Aston Church Road, Nechells, are staging the Heartlands UK Open 2003, in August comprising of a darting weekend with a doubles knockout on the Saturday and singles on the Sunday. A £1000 prize money pot is already being spoken of for a £6 entry to each of the competitions.

Highwood Arrows and the Glades, the top two teams in the Forest of Arden Winter League met this week on the Glades board, but it was not a good result for the hosts as they suffered an 8-1 defeat. Arrows now go six points clear of the field, Red Arrows taking over second spot after a 7-2 win against Farringdon Social and Glades drop to third, level on points with Red Arrows with an inferior average.

Hobs Meadow and Highwood are both on 16 points Hobs beating Cock and Hens 7-2, while Highwood defeated Sheldon Heath Social Flights 6-3.

Hobs Meadow Mixes won 5-4 against the Harvetser with their Richard Taylor recording the highest finish of the season so far, 161. Farringdon’s B.Phipps had a 160 break and Highwood Arrows player Andy Hutchings hit a maximum.
