Midland Red, as a result of their 6-3 win over W.C.WMC, have gone outright leaders of division one of the Harborne and District Winter League. Second placed Bell have played one game fewer and are just two points adrift.
In division two, Smethwich Labour Club handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Bartley Green Social Flights to consolidate their number one spot. Hillfields, the Labour Clubs nearest rivals, won 7-2 at home to Weoley Castle and remain two points adrift with a game in hand. A 180 from T.Morton (Avenue Social) was not enough for his team to avoid a 5-4 defeat at the Pheasant.

Colin Farrington starts the New Year as leader of the Belgrave Social Individual League. 3-0 wins against Brian Evritt and Robert Thompson has given Farringdon a total of 58 points, One more than second placed Andy Hanslow wh suffered a 2-1 reversal at the hands of Robert Mills. Mark Hollyoake is currently in seventh place, eleven points behind Farringdon, but he has two games in hand which could net him ten points to push him up to joint second.

Just two points seperate the top two teams in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. Fordbridge Social, on 20 points are top following their 5-4 win at the Hen and Chickens, while St Anne’s, who average is exactly the same as Fordbridge, trail by two points, even though they won 7-2 against the Three Horse Shoes. B.Bourne hit a maximum for the Malt Shovel who also had a 7- 2 success in their encounter with the Raven.
A 7-2 win by EBAHA over the Horseshoes has extended their lead at the top of division one to four points as second placed British Telecom Club slipped up at home, going down 5-4 to Shard End Social.

Heartlands Club were in top form in the Small Heath League when they handed out a 9-0 thrashing to the Antelope. In pole position with 14 points, Heartlands are two ahead of Custard House who beat Ward End Ex Service Club 8-1, but the leaders have a far superior average. Bottom of the table Gables Tavern are still chasing their first points, but despite losing they recorded a very close 5-4 result away to third placed Gunmakers.

In the Longwood League the Dolphin had a 6-3 home win over the Gate Inn in the Open Cup, while league leaders Red Lion ‘A’ beat the Globe 5-4 in the Challenge Cup. In the Shadow Cup Mercian defeated the Royal Oak.
