Highwood Arrows kept their championship hopes on course in the Forest of Arden Winter League with a 7-2 win at Hobs Meadow, the current reigning champions. Due to illness and work commitments, Hobs were only able to field six players and against the table toppers it proved to be too big a liability and had to suffer the inevitable outcome.

Red Arrows gained an important 6-3 home win over the Glades, the two teams now locked together in third place on the same fourteen points and level on average. Also on fourteen points is the Highwood, who had a 7-2 home success over Hobs Meadow Mixes to put them four legs in front of Glades and Arrows, but four adrift of the leaders.

At the other end of the table Old Bill and Bull gained their second win of the campaign, a 6-3 verdict against Farringdon Social, who remain the only team without a win so far. In the individual stakes there were 160 breaks for Ken Fisher (Glades), Andy Hutchings, Dave Duncan (Highwood Arrows) and scores of 180 for M.Kenny (Glades) and Paul Franks (Harvester).

There was a surprise for Red Lion ‘A’ in the Longwood League, when they returned from the Mercian with only a share of the spoils. A win was expected from table toppers Lion, who have 37 points compared to their opponents, who are eleventh in the league with 15 points. Second placed Dolphin are finished all square in their game with Queens Head, who are just two points behind them but, third placed White Lion made ground, reducing the deficit between themselves and Dolphin to one point with a 5-3 win at Queens ‘B’.

The top two teams and the most likely contenders for the Small Heath League title, Heartlands Club and Custard House, recorded wins in their latest games. Heartlands, with 12 points and a 100% record beat third in the table Gunmakers 6-3, while Custard House had an emphatic 8-1 victory at home to the Brewer and Baker they remain two points adrift of Heartlands.

Shannons stretched their unbeaten run to five games in the Camp Hill and District League, when they beat the Antelope 7-2. Black Horse ‘A’, the nearest threat to Shannons have six points fewer, they won 6-3 against local rivals Black Horse ‘B’.
