Lancashire extended their lead at the top of the Premier Division of the UKDA National League from twenty-five to thirty points when in their latest fixture, an away game against Sussex, they won 25-11. Lincolnshire also hold on to their number two spot after their 20-16 win at Essex and although trailing Lancashire by thirty points, they do have a game in hand on them. Yorkshire dropped one place to fourth despite their 20-16 home win over Warwickshire, as their 162 points are two fewer than Glamorgan who have replaced them in third place following their 26-10 home win against Suffolk. A 20-16 home win over Dorset was enough to see Hertfordshire move off the foot of the table and be replaced by their opponents who are on 107 points, four less than next to bottom Hertfordshire.
Suffolk’s David Ballard-Flatt had the top average in the men’s ‘A’ games, 32.85 in his 4-0 win over Glamorgan’s Colin Powell. Trina Gulliver MBE took the ladies ‘A’ match award with an outstanding 33.40 average in her straight 3-0 win over Essex player Karen Williams. Second placed Humberside are seven points short of Middlesex but they have played eight games, their most recent seeing them win 19-17 at home against Hampshire who are a further four points adrift in third place and have played seven games. Stephen Cake (Gwent) was the top player in the men’s ‘A’ games, his 4-1 win over Oxfordshire’s Kevin Taylor and 31.00, average earning him the match award. Leicestershire moved up one place in the table to third after they won 21-15 at home against Salopian, leaving them with a game in hand on the two teams above them and thirteen points off the top. Norfolk are riding high in Division Two, their latest massive 28-8 home win over Surrey extending their lead at the top of the table from fourteen to eighteen points. It’s as-you-were for second placed Nottinghamshire, their 24-12 home win over Buckinghamshire keeping them on track for the runners-up spot but keeping Nottinghamshire within their sights is third placed Cumbria, they held on to the number three, position with a 22-14 win away to West of England to stay within ten points of second place. Going into their seventh fixture of the season, an away game against Yorkshire, Warwickshire were lying eighth in the table with 113 points and their hosts third on 139 points from seven games. It was never going to be an easy task for Warwickshire County Darts Organisation and that is exactly how it turned out.
The weekend got off to a good start for the away side as the ladies ‘B’ went 1-0 and 2-1 up, Lucy Shepherd winning the opener against Tracy Marran 3-0 and Kirsty Hiunchliffe the third when she beat Sonia Porter, also 3-0. Lyn Horne (Yorkshire) won the second game against Hannah Meek 3-0. Nina Bolt opened up a 3-1 lead when she won 3-2 against Toni Smallwood and although Emma Lockwood reduced the arrears for the home team when she won 3-0 against Jodie Rigg, the final game was in safe hands as Warwickshire’s lady of the match Macy Gibbons beat Michelle Binns 3-1 with a 22.41 average to give the visitors a 4-2 victory.
Yorkshire were fastest out of the blocks in the men’s ‘B’ game, Mason Hale and Paul Gannon giving them a 2-0 lead when they won 4-3 against respective opponents Karl Reynolds and Ian Shaw. Mark Strong momentarily stopped the rot with his 4-1 success against Graham Elvidge, only to see the home side restore their two games buffer when Steve Blower won 4-3 against Jason Meek. Warwickshire’s second winner came in the shape of Keith Deeley, his 4-3 win over Danny Dutson taking the score along to 3-2 to the hosts. By the halfway stage Yorkshire were 4-2 up as their Tony Darlow closed the half with a 4-2 win over Jason Prince.
The deficit was halved in style as the second session got underway with Warwickshire’s man of the match William Naylor beating James Robins 4-2 with a 26.88 average. Tony Calvert made it 5-3 with his 4-2 win against Jnr Joyce, Zac Prince keeping Warwickshire in the hunt with his 4-1 win against Brian Hallas. Liam Fallas assured the home team of at least a share of the spoils when he beat Adam Hancock 4-2 but the final score was all-square after Mark Carter beat Jack Shields 4-3 and anchor-man Lee Miller won 4-3 against Sam Booth to put the overall score for the day at 10-8 to Warwickshire.
The ladies ‘B’ match finished with a 4-2 result and so did the ladies ‘A’ but this time it was Yorkshire who finished on the winning side.
Sally Whiting put Yorkshire one up when she won 3-2 against Kacie O’Connor, but the lead was short-lived as Warwickshire’s lady of the match Courtney Hine, beat Jane Hawtin 3-1 with a 20.46 average. For a second time the hosts took the lead, this time it was through a 3-1 win for Marie Fitton over Marian Conway and with a further 3-0 win for Jayne Conboy, the home team were guaranteed a share of the points, however they didn’t have to wait long for the win as their penultimate player, and lady of the match Jody Hancock won 3-1 against Wendy Adams to put them into an unbeatable 4-1 lead. The final game went to Warwickshire, Caroline Pike making her amazing 250 appearance for Warwickshire ladies, celebrated it with a 3-1 win over Lily Blanthorn to put the final score at 4-2 to Yorkshire.
Caroline Pike being presented with her Certificate for 250 appearances for Warwickshire by County Chairman Neil Pritchard.
As with the men’s ‘B’, Yorkshire’s men’s ‘A’ were first off the mark as Wayne Scarrott beat Jack Wareing 4-2 and Peter Jacques doubled the lead when he won 4-1 against Matty Washbrooke. Taking the score along to 3-1 was Dan Outwin with his 4-1 win against Sam Price, all before Warwickshire got their first stripe on the board, thanks to their man of the match Nigel Heydon who in his 4-3 win over Carl Wilkinson he chalked up an average of 29.61. After the minor set-back for the hosts it was then back to business as Kieran Evans and Keith Flint closed the half with respective 4-1 wins over Kevin Dowling and Taylor McGuckian to put the home team 5-1 up.
Noel Grant gave the away side a winning start to the second half, his 4-1 win against Andy Harland making it 5-2 to Yorkshire. However from their 5-2 advantage, the home team then went into a winning 7-2 lead as Tom Sykes and Jack Hill in turn won 4-1 against Mark Martin and Dave Atkins before the visitors had their best run of the game when they won two in-a-row, Gareth Braham beating Darren Weaver 4-2 and Zac Prince winning 4-3 against Tony Molyneux. A 4-1 win over Ryan Jackson by Ash Taylor took the final score to 8-4 to Yorkshire to give them an overall 20-16 victory for the weekend.
Despite their win, Yorkshire dropped one place to fourth on 162 points from eight games while Warwickshire’s defeat saw them move up one place to seventh with 129 points from seven games.

Rounding off the 5-1 win for Leicestershire were Caroline Newberry, who won 3-1 against Stacey Price, and Liz Brunt who beat Hayley McGuinness 3-0.

As the second session got underway, the home side extended their lead to 5-2 when Mark Thompson beat Paul Andrew 4-0 and although Ian Evans (Salopian) got the 4-3 edge on Michael Hibbert, the hosts were guaranteed at least a share of the points when Mark Faulkner won 4-2 against James Mansell. However, the win for Leicestershire was confirmed in game nine when Paul Ablett added his 4-1 win against Tony Burton to their tally. With Leicestershire now in a commanding 16-8 lead, they went 18-8 up when Sam Whittaker and Matthew Dickinson in turn won against Jamie Chaplin (4-3) and Ash Hilditch (4-2) as the men’s ‘A’ match got underway. A 4-3 win for Jake B. Smith over Darren Taylor only delayed the overall win for Leicestershire as in the fourth encounter Ricky Sudale chalked up the hosts nineteenth win for the weekend when he beat Dave Bayton 4-0. Andrew Hibbert took the home team’s men’s ‘A’ lead to 4-1 when he won 4-2 against Paul Rowley but at the halfway stage the score was 4-2 as Salopian’s man of the match Kacey Jones won 4-2 against Mark Faulkner with a 26.55 average.

The overall result for the weekend was a 21-15 win for Leicestershire which saw them move up one place to third on 164 points, thirteen short of leaders Worcestershire and six behind second placed Somerset, however they do have a game in hand on both of the two teams above them. Meanwhile, Salopian held on to their sixth place with 134 points

Black Country’s seventh fixture in the L-Style Division One of the UKDA National League was a home tie with high-riding Somerset. Black Country have slowly slipped down the table to eighth with 111 points from their six games while their opponent were placed second with 151 points from seven games.
It was not a memorable weekend for the ladies ‘B’ as they slumped to a 5-1 defeat losing the opening five games. Chalking up the first five wins for Somerset were Sue Lane, Lauren Collins, Kay Bisset, Gillian Roper and Lisa Hughes, who in turn accounted for Jodie Rowlands (3-1), Libby Gowen (3-0), Demi Titley (3-0), Scarlett Sullivan (3-0) and Sarah Jane Parker (3-2). The last game went to Black Country, Chez Allcock beating Zoe Liddle 3-1, and being the solitary winner she collected the match award for her 21.73 average.
The men’s ‘B’ got off to a good start with Mark Rollinson beating Carl High 4-3 and man of the match Neil Steventon winning 4-3 against Jody Matthews with a 26.33 average. From 2-0 up, parity was then restored as Kevin Hardy beat Wayne Hobday 4-1 and Daniel Davies won 4-1 against Jake Shipley. The two wins in-a-row pattern continued as Black Country won the next two games thanks to Ian Townsend who beat Chris Turner 4-2 and Rich Bowen who had a similar 4-2 win over Mervyn Adams to put the hosts 4-2 up at the halfway point of the game.
The second half continued the two in-a-row sequence as Carl Galeitzke and Ade Beale in turn won 4-3 against Kian Rogers and Andy Garratt to put the score at 4-4. Then, for the first time in the match, Somerset took the lead when Dave Farmer beat Matthew Lloyd 4-1. At 5-4 down the home side then roared to a 7-5 victory as Danny Chiswell and Mark Jones had straight 4-0 wins over their respective opponents Lee Gregory and Vincent Archer, Matt Coleman adding the magical seventh win when he won the final game of the day against Rob Lovell 4-1.
The first four games of the ladies ‘A’ match all went against the first throw advantage Grace Angell’s (Black Country) 3-2 win over Kate Hulme cancelled out by a 3-1 win for Becky Taylor (Somerset) over Chez Allcock. The host’s lady of the match Heather Wright restored the home team’s lead when she won 3-2 against Shelley Cotterell and averaged 16.19, only to see for a second time their advantage wiped out when Karen Little beat Doreen Hunt 3-0. The result was taken to 4-2 to Somerset with Donna Gullock and Sally Smith winning in turn against Abbey Hunt (3-1) and Stella Sims (3-2).
The men’s ‘A’ match began with the home side trailing in the overall score by 14-10 but still with a hope of a win or at the least a draw. The opening game saw Trev Brennan put the home team one up when he beat Tyler High 4-1. A 4-2 win for Jari High over Rhys Butler levelled the game but it was Black Country who took the lead for a second time when Kieron Bridgwater won 4-1 against Neil Raikes. George Willetts extended that lead to 3-1 with his 4-3 win over Mike Harper before Jamie Rollinson defeated Leigh Taylor 4-0 and in the process earned himself the match award for his super 32.85 average. By the midway point, Black Country were leading 5-1, Craig Butler closing the half with his 4-1 win over Jack Walker.
