In the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division of the UKDA National League, West Midlands travelled down to Oxfordshire, the home side residing at the foot of the table with sixty-seven points from four games while West Midlands were third on ninety-six points from the same four games.

What better way to start the weekend than with a straight 6-0 win for the ladies ‘B’ with wins from Hannah Davies, Kelly Aston, Tara Fullwood, Jade Wellings, Katherine Jenkins and Shellbie Guest. The match award went to opener Hannah Davies for her 17.59 average in a 3-1 win over Emma Manning, the men’s ‘B’ took the overall lead for Saturday to 12-6 after finishing level at 6-6 with their counterparts. Picking up the match award was Kieran O’Mahoney for his 4-1 success against Andrew Quinn.

The ladies ‘A’ had a 4-2 win, their top player being Gemma Barrett, who won 3-2 against Sue Burns and averaged 20.31. Making it three out of four wins for the weekend were the men’s ‘A’, their 7-5 victory giving an overall 23-13 win for the Midlanders. With a super 32.85 average, Richard Platt was man of the match, he had a convincing 4-0 win over Daniel Smith.

The win saw West Midlands move up one place to second with 122 points, just nine points short of leaders Hampshire with a game in hand.
