The preliminary round of the Sheldon Shield was on the fixture carfd for the Sheldon and District Winter League and in the all division two clash between Maggies and Lyndon Old Boys it was the latter that got the 6-1 verdict. Division one teams Kingshurst Labour Club and Hunters Moon both progressed into the next round with 5-2 and 6-1 results against their respective division two opponents Shirley Misfits and Digby.

There was one rearranged Premier League fixture played which saw second placed Langley Arrows win a close 5-4 away to bottom of the table Banbury Club with Simon Power ecording a 120finish for the winners.

Game number five in the Harborne and District League brought about no changes to the top five places of the league table with leaders Northfield Conservative Club adding a 6-3 home win over fifth placed Smethwick Cricket Club to their account to keep intact their 100% winning run, however they have now been joined by Copper Fox ‘R’ whose 9-0 whitewash of Avenue Social has put them level on both points and average with Northfield Conservative Club. Third placed Northfield Darts Club are two points behind the top two teams after they won their home tie with the Mill 7-2 which keeps them two points to the good on fourth in the table Copper Fox ‘M’ who won 8-1 at Weoley Castle..

There were six maximums scored this week and they came from K.Bedder snr (Copper Fox ‘M’), E.Simpson (Copper Fox ‘R’), M.Lloyd (Northfield Conservative Club), L.Fox (Cock Inn) and A.Beagrie, N.Davis) (Mill).

The top three teams in the Kings Norton League held on to their places in game eleven, leaders Northfield having a 5-2 win at home against Kings Norton Flights to maintain their unbeaten run, their ten winning games giving them a two points advantage, plus a game in hand over second placed Bournebrook who had a close 4-3 home win over Bourneville. Third in the table Copper Fox have a game in hand on Bournebrook and are only two points behind them with a superior average after their 6-1 win at Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club. Greenlands are fourth, they won 5-2 at home against Stirchley leaving them two points short of Copper Fox as are fifth in the league Bourneville.

Four top scores of 180 this week supplied by D.Murray (Bourneville), Kyle Astbury (Perfection), R.Docker (Greenlands) and R.Hitchmough (Northfield).

The Camp Hill League saw a revitalised Sedgemere Devils team chalk up their first win of the season at home to the Moseley Arms this week winning 5-2 to lift them off the foot of the table and be replaced by Roost Rebels who have an inferior average after going down 5-2 away to second in the league Erdington Nomads. At the other end of the table leaders Wakefield Warriors had a convincing 6-1 win at Clumsy Swan to keep their two points lead on Erdington Nomads who have played one game fewer than the Warriors. Roost Bosh moved one place up the table to third replacing their opponents Cotterills lane EBAHA Club who they beat 4-3, Kevin Smith hitting a maximum for Roost Bosh and Neil Parsonage doing the same for Cotterills.

Highcroft Hotdogs had a narrow 5-4 home win over middle of the table Bishop Vesey in their thirteenth fixture of the season in division one of the Four Oaks and District League to stay four points to the good on their nearest rivals Nomads @ Hollyfields who with a maximum from Dave Jarvis had a 6-3 home win over Heartlands in what was their twelfth fixture. Third placed Walmley CSC Flights had a bye this week and are on the same eighteen points as Nomads. A 160 break from Andy Kimberley and a 5-4 result against Red Lion keeps Old Horns Lions fourth in the division with sixteen points from thirteen games.

In division two Drakes Drum lead the way with twenty-two points from their twelve games, the latest seeing them win 6-3 at home against Deer’s Leap. Second placed Erdington Arrows lost ground in the title race and fell four points behind the leaders when they lost 5-4 at home to third in the division Rosey Mac’s who are now on the same eighteen points as their opponents but they have played one game more than them.

In the latest round of fixtures in division one of the South West Birmingham Clubs League Northfield Darts Club were held to a 4-4 draw at third in the division Longbridge United and as a result lost pole position and drop to second place behind new leaders Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’ whose 8-0 home win over West Heath CEM has put them on the same ten points as the former leaders and with a two legs of average lead on them.

Division two leaders Quarry Club had a bye but remain at the top of the table with eleven points and a lead of four over second and third laced Perfection and Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club, both teams finishing all square at 4-4 in their respective games against Bartley Green FC and E57.

In the Stourbridge and District Monday Night league Glasscutters ‘A’ suffered a 4-3 home defeat to Ten Arches ‘A’ who as a result have replaced them at the top of the table with a perfect ten points from their five games, Glasscutters ‘A’ dropping two places to third with eight points. A 7-0 win at Ashwood takes Gornal British Legion up to second place on the same eight points as Glasscutters ‘A’ as are the four teams below Glasscutters, Five Way’s, Old Liberal Club, Bird in Hand and Raven ‘A’, Old Liberal Club the only other team in the league with a 100% win record but they have only played four games.

There were 7-0 wins for the top two teams in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League as leaders Allen’s Bar accounted for King Arthur and second placed Cottage Spring beat Royal Yeomanry. Besides the two top sides there are two other teams Vine ‘A’ and Waggon and Horses who have also won all three of their fixtures so far, Vine ‘A’ who had a 5-2 home win over Tipton Sports and Waggon and Horses who won 4-3 at Ivy Bush. After the top four there are five teams who are all on four points, two short of the quartet at the top of the table and they are Three Horseshoes, Tamebridge, Coach and Horses, Ivy Bush and Sow and Pigs.

Despite winning 6-3 at Hawthorn’s ‘A’ in the Rowley Monday Night League, Gate Hangs Well have lost their number one spot as Wonder handed their visitors Hawthorns ‘B’ a 9-0 whitewash to take an average lead of three legs over Gate Hangs Well who drop to second place. Reigning champions Bell are on the same unbeaten eight points as the two teams above them after they won 7-2 at home against Plough and Harrow whose K.Chambers hit a maximum. D.Whittle (Rowley Labour Club) was another player to find the three treble twenties in his team’s 8-1 win at Rowley Cricket Club. Four teams are just two points behind the leading trio and they are Rowley Labour Club, Tividale FC, Whiteheath Tavern and Snooks.

There were 6-3 wins for the top two teams in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League, leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ winning away against Raven while second placed Maverick won at Glasshouse ‘B’ to keep within eight points of the top team. Third placed Bridge with fifty points are ten off the top after they won 7-2 at home against Glasshouse ‘A’, the win keeping them ahead on average of fourth in the table Old Bush who had a bye this week but have played the same thirty-one games as Bridge, the top two teams have both played thirty-two fixtures.

The Stourbridge Wednesday Night League are up to week thirty and the two leading teams are both on fifty-two points, top of the table Old Liberal Club ‘A’ have played twenty-eight games and have an average lead on second placed Swan, Old Liberal adding a 6-1 home win over Mount Pleasant to their tally while Swan went on better beating Wheatsheaf 7-0 in what was their twenty-ninth fixture. After the leading duo there is a gap of eight points to both third and fourth placed Bird in Hand ‘E’ and Hollybush, the former winning their home tie with Brickmakers Arms 7-0 and the latter winning 6-1 at home against Five Ways ‘B’.

The Sedgley and Gornal Tuesaday Night League are up to game six of their John Walters Trophy and in league ‘A’ there were wins for the top three teams New Inn 2, Mount Pleasant and Gornal British Legion who in turn won 6-3 at Red Cow, 6-3 at Royal and 7-2 at Netherton Sports and Social Club. New Inn 2 with ten points have a lead of four on both Mount Pleasant and Gornal British Legion who both have a game in hand on the leaders.

In league ‘B’ Meadow Lark lost 6-3 at New Inn and drop to third place while their victors take over in pole position with an average lead on Jolly Crispin (second) and Meadow Lark who have both played one fixture fewer than New Inn, all the top three teams are on six points. Jolly Crispin had a 6-3 home win over Cabin.

Evonne Taylor added another two straight 3-0 wins to her account in the West Midlands Ladies Super League when she beat Sam Rowley and Sarah Barrett to see her hold on to the number one spot with eleven wins from as many games giving her a total of forty-four points. Second placed Kat McLean is on thirty-six points but has two games in hand on Taylor she began her night with a 3-0 win over Julie Emery and then beat Debbie Davies 3-1. Third placed Gemma Barrett has played ten games the latest seeing her beat Kath Jenkins 3-0 and Tara Simmons-Fullwood 3-2 to give her a total of thirty-four points.

There were just two rearranged fixtures played in the West Midlands Men’s Super League neither of them involving the top four teams. Both fixtures ended with a 3-2 result with wins for Cottage Spring and Gilbert’s Bar ‘B’ who in turn defeated Gate Inn and Landywood.

Although a close 3-2 win at home against Halesowen Cricket Club, it was enough to keep Allen’s Bar top of the table in the Black Country Men’s Super League with ninety-three points, a huge fourteen more than their nearest rivals Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club who moved up one place in the table to second following their convincing 5-0 win at home against Allen’s Bar ‘B’. Townsend ‘A’ were formerly second, they didn’t play this week and from the same number of games as the two teams above them are on seventy-eight points.

The top two players hold on to their places at the top of the Amblecote RBL Premier League, leader Jason Lowe holding on to the top spot despite suffering his first defeat in ten games and more importantly losing 4-3 to second placed Paul Wells. Lowe was quick to recover as he won his next game against Gavin Smith 6-1 while Wells added a further 4-3 result against Jake Shipley to maintain his unbeaten run and put him level on sixty-four points with Lowe.

A resounding 7-1 win over Chris Manoila sees Simon Mountford stay top of division one of the Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night Singles League with forty-six points from six games. Reigning champion Scott Baker has won all five of his games and has amassed a total of thirty-eight points, his latest success being a 5-3 win over Simon Pritchard. Third placed Ben Johnson has also only played five games and has thirty-seven points and didn’t play this week.

Reece Cook Lucas continues to head the division two table, his 7-1 win against Kobi Holyhead taking his points tally to fifty-two from six games and gives him a lead of fourteen over his nearest rival, second placed Richard Brown who beat Wayne Barratt 5-3 to give him a slender one point advantage over thbird placed Michael Smith who won 6-2 against Warren Bower.

Olly Garratt holds on to his six points lead at the top of division three after he won 7-1 against John Walsh and second placed Gareth Walsh won by the same 7-1 margin against Becky Lopez. A similar 7-1 win for Jade Wellings over Alex Bryant puts her third in the table with forty-four points.
