To round off their season it was cup final week for the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League, the Bob Price Cup title going to Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’ who won the local derby final against the Northfield Conservative ‘A’ team 5-2.

Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’ made it a double by winning the Division One Divisional Cup as they beat Bournbrook 15-6 in the final. The division two cup title went to Northfield Conservative Club ‘A’, making it a clean-sweep for the Northfield Conservative Club teams as they beat Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club in the final by a narrow 11-10 margin.

In the Camp Hill League Wakefield Warriors took their undefeated run to five games when they won 6-1 playing away against second in the table Roost Rebels who due to their defeat drop to fourth in the table with six points. Third in the league Cotterills Lane EBAHA Club had a surprisingly close 4-3 win away to bottom of the table Sedgemere Devils to see them hold on to the number three spot with the same six points as Bosh. Erdington Nomads won their home tie with Moseley Arms 5-2 to see them move up from fourth place to second with a better average them both Cotterills and Bosh but trailing Warriors by four points. Clumsy Swan got their first win of the season when they won 5-2 at Wakefield Terriers

In the league’s preliminary round of their League Cup Wakefield Warriors took out Roost Bosh and then in round one won 4-3 against Erdington Nomads while Wakefield Terriers lost by the same 4-3 margin at Moseley Arms. There were 5-2 wins for Clumsy Swan and Cotterills Lane EBAHA Club who in turn accounted for Sedgemere Devils and Roost Rebels.

RAFA had their winning run ended in the Premier League of the Sheldon and District Winter League when they lost 8-1 at Langley Arrows and as a result drop one place in the table to third. No such problem for leaders Sheldon Marlborough Arrows as with an eleven darts game from their Paul Brown they won 6-3 at Highwood. Raven Arrows move up one place to take over the number two spot after they extended their winning run to three games with an 8-1 win at EBAHA, leaving them two points short of the leaders but with a game in hand. Although Banbury Club lost 6-3 at home to Brian’s Flights their Kristian Green recorded a superb 157 finish.

In Division One there is no change in the top six places with Yardley Ex Colts holding on to pole position with a perfect eight points from their four games, the latest of which saw them win 8-1 at home against Hollywood Social Club, Chris Darby hitting a maximum plus a 136 finish for Yardley. Second placed Old Salts Darts player Sam Robinson also hit a maximum in his team’s 7-2 win at Sheldon Marlborough Ridge whose Daniel Lees also found the three treble twenties. Old Salts Darts and third placed Smithswood Social Club are both on six points, Smithswood with a game in hand after their latest 6-3 win at Kingshurst Labour Club. Tom Cupkovic (Trident Spears) had a ten darts game in his team’s 5-4 win at Hunters Moon.

Just two points separate the top six teams on Division Two, Moseley Rugby Club leading the way on average over Sheldon Marlborough Flights after their 5-4 home win over Langley Pints and Sheldon Marlborough Flights 6-3 home win over Lyndon Old Boys. Maggies, Shirley Misfits and Digby are all on four points, two fewer than the two teams above them but they have all played just three games compared to the top two having played four. Maggies had a bye this week while Shirley Misfits won their home game with Digby 6-3. Six placed Lyndon Old Boys also have four points but they have played four games.

It was cup week for the Four Oaks and District League, first round one of their Coronation Shield in which division two leaders Erdington Arrows won 9-6 away to division one side Charley’s Flights. In the all division one game Old Oscott Arrows beat Old Horns Lions 9-6 and in the all division two encounter Drakes Drum had a narrow 8-7 success over Beggars Bush.

In round one of the Norman Day Cup, Nomads @ Hollyfields, who are second in division one, handed out a 15-0 whitewash to their division two opponents St Thomas Misfits, Sutton Sports dishing out the same heavy defeat to their division two rivals Pint Pot Flights, the all division one game between Rise Club and Heartlands finished with a 9-6 win for the latter.

The Stourbridge and District Monday Night League completed their thirty-six domestic fixtures this week and Old Liberal Club rounded off the perfect season making it thirty-six wins in as many games when in their final game they won 6-1 at home against fifth placed Netherton Conservative Club ‘B’ to put them on seventy-two points, eight more than runners-up Gate Hangs Well ‘B’ who ended their season with a 5-2 win at Fox Inn (Lye). Third placed Princess also won 5-2 at home against Rose and Crown ‘B’ leaving them just two points behind the runners-up but four to the good on fourth placed Five Ways who had a 6-1 win away to sixth placed Netherton Conservative Club ‘A’

The Shadow League title went down to the wire as going into the final games Gate Hangs Well ‘A’ topped the table with Rose and Crown ‘A’ second, level on eighteen points, but with a 4-3 home defeat to Seven Stars for Gate Hangs Well ‘A’ in their last game they dropped to second place as a 5-2 home win over Queens Head took Rose and Crown ‘A’ points tally to twenty, two more than Gate Hangs Well ‘A’ to give Rose and Crown ‘A’ the title.

After the opening five games of the Netherton Thursday Night 501 League’s new season, three teams are level on fifteen points after winning their first five games. Old Liberal Club top the table with a slender two legs of average lead on Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ after winning 9-0 at home against Hare and Hounds while the Ex Serviceman’s Club had a similar 9-0 win away to Mount Pleasant. Bulls Head are third, their 6-3 win at Hill and Cakemore Ex Serviceman’s Club putting them on the same fifteen points as the two teams above them but trailing the leaders by four legs of average. After the top three there are five teams all on nine points British Oak, Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘B’, Hill and Cakemore Ex Serviceman’s Club, Spring Meadow Social and Spring Meadow Pub.

It was cup finals week in the Rowley Monday Night League and winning the Bill Bishop Cup was Hawthorns who beat Tividale FC in the final. Tividale FC player H.Kainthal hit a maximum and recorded a fourteen darts leg. The Challenge Cup title went to White Swan with Rowley Bar and Grill runners-up.

The Silver End Sunday Morning League produced a top of the table clash this week with leaders Dudley Sports ‘A’ travelling to take on second placed Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club. The result was a 6-2 win for the Ex Serviceman’s Club to see them leap-frog their visitors and take over the number one spot in the table with seventy-six points, two more than their opponents who have played one game fewer than them. Old Star are third in the league, they handed their visitors, sixth in the league Church Tavern, an 8-0 defeat to keep them within five points of the leaders.

A 158 finish from A.Edgar helped to keep his team New Inn 2 top of the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League as they went on to win 7-2 at home against Jolly Crispin. Second in the league Mount Pleasant had a bye, they remain two points behind with a game in hand. Third placed Netherton Sports and Social Club with a 180 from their S.Tipper had a close 5-4 home win over Red Cow who dropped one place to fifth while the winners moved to within two points of the league’s top team. Gornal British Legion are fourth, their 8-1 win at Meadow Lark leaving them four points off the top of the table with a game in hand.

Leaders of the West Midlands Men’s Super League Dog and Partridge handed out a 5-0 whitewash to their visiting opponents Shepwell Green to put them on 117 points from their 28 games, they have a lead of eleven over second placed Gilbert’s Bar ‘B’ who won 4-1 in their home tie with Cottage Spring. With four fewer points than Gilbert’s ‘B’, third in the league Kings Head ‘A’, who were also 4-1 home winners, beat Junction ‘B’. Fourth in the league Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club had a 3-2 home win over Corpus Christi to leave them on 98 points with a game in hand on the three teams above them.

The Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night Singles League has now completed its season with the winners of the three divisions being realised a few weeks ago. Scott Baker with 257 points won division one with Dean Simmons-Fullwood second with 242 points. The division two title went to Kurt Wright who amassed a total of 235 points and his nearest rival was runner-up Alan Melling who had 204 points. The title for division three has long been known as Dave Thackeray, with thirty-four wins in thirty-five games took the title with 320 points, a huge forty-three points more than second placed Joe Bartolo who finished with 277 points.

Week 22 in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League brought about no changes at the top of the singles or doubles league with the same two teams in the same top two places in both divisions. Junction ‘B’ top both leagues, a 6-1 home win over Ring of Bells puts them on 42 points in the singles league and a 3-0 success in the doubles over the same team gives them 40 points at the top of the doubles league. Hotshots are second in both leagues after winning 5-2 at Corpus Christi ‘A’ in the singles and 2-1 in the doubles to put them on 40 points in both leagues.
