With West Midlands having brought their final game of the season in the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division, a home tie against Northamptonshire forward by two weeks they were on the official final day of the season anxiously awaiting the outcome of the other results and ultimately their fate which as it turned out was not good as the final results saw them drop to next to bottom of the table with 175 points, just five short of survival and will play next season in Division One.

Although the Midlanders were relegated it was not a bad season for the men as the ‘A’ side finished third in their division and the ‘B’ second in theirs, unfortunately it was not such good news for the ladies as both of them finished bottom of their respective divisions.

Black Country’s final game of the season in the L-Style Division One of the UKDA National League was an away fixture against Tyne and Wear which they brought forward by one week and won 23-13. Again like their neighbours there was disappointment as second placed Suffolk won 29-7 at home against Merseyside to take them top of the table with 248 points and Gwent, who were fourth in the division chalked up a 25-11 home win over Leicestershire to move up pinto second place with 226 points just three more than Black Country who slipped down to third place in the table and narrowly missed out on promotion.
