The West Midlands will be playing what could well be a survival battle this coming weekend when they travel to the Pinxton Village Hall, 3 Kirkstead Close, Pinxton, NG16 6NA where they will square-up to Derbyshire in what will be their ninth of a scheduled ten fixtures in the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division of the UKDA National League. As the league stands before the fixture West Midlands are two places off the foot of the table with 136 while their hosts are next to bottom on 133 points, but in addition to their game with West Midlands Derbyshire still have another two fixtures to play, so defeat, not even a draw is an option for West Midlands, this is a must-win game if they are to have any chance of playing in the Championship Division next season.

With a home game against Devon in the L-Style Division One of the UKDA National League this coming weekend Black Country have the opportunity to climb a little higher up the divisional table as they are currently placed sixth and only nine points short of second in the division Gwent. The Sheldon and District Winter League have been staging the finals of their Divisional League Cups and lining up against each other in the premier league final were Highwood and Langley Arrows. Langley Arrows have already been acclaimed winners of the division with a total of thirty points from their sixteen games and sixteen more than their fifth placed opponents, so on league form Langley Arrows began as strong favourites. With a maximum for both teams, Richard Mills for Langley Arrows and John Buckingham for Highwood the all-important result was a very close 5-4 which went to the favourites Langley Arrows to make it a tremendous league and cup double.

The division one final was fought out between Willclare Sports and Social Club and Brian’s Flights. With thirty points from their sixteen games and still two more to play Brian’s Flights have already been proclaimed divisional champions their finalists have completed their league programme but with twenty-eight points have finished their campaign as runners-up. As in the division one play-off the division two final also matched the division’s top two teams with champions Sheldon Marlborough Ridge squaring up to The Hornet who are almost certain to finish as runners-up. To lose the second place Hornet would have to lose their last game 9-0 and third in the division Sheldon Marlborough Flights would have to win 9-0. The cup final was yet again a 5-4 result, Rob Wilson notching a maximum for Hornet but the vital 5-4 result going to Sheldon Marlborough Ridge.
