Results for game number six in the Cosmo Darts Premier Division of the UKDA National League brought about no change in the top two places in the table, the only difference being that leaders Lancashire with a 26-10 win away to Humberside increased their lead from fifteen to twenty-one points over their nearest rivals Yorkshire who won 20-16 at home against Lincolnshire. However, Lancashire have now played six fixtures as opposed to Yorkshire only having played five. Hampshire lost their third spot and drop to fifth on 111 points after they lost 22-14 at home to Warwickshire who move up three places to seventh with ninety-four points, they have a game in hand on four of the six teams above them. Taking over in the number three position is Cornwall, their 18-18 draw at Essex giving them a total of 111 points as have fourth placed Glamorgan who went down 19-17 at home to Dorset.
Top man of the match awards went to, for the men’s ‘A’ Lancashire’s Lee Shewan who won 4-0 against Humberside’s Karl Corcoran with a superb 35.16 average and for the men’s ‘B’ it was Lincolnshire’s James Beeton who had a 4-2 win and 31.53 average against Yorkshire’s Keith Flint. Top of the ladies ‘A’ charts was Yorkshire’s Sara Mortimer whose 3-0 win and 23.12 average against Lincolnshire’s Kelly Haverson earned her the award. For the ladies ‘B’ Hampshire’s Laura Turner averaged 23.48 and won 3-0 against Warwickshire’s Melanie Jones.
It’s all-change at the top of the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division, Hertfordshire’s 23-13 home win over Cheshire seeing them move up from third place to pole position with 117 points one more than former leaders London who as a result of having a bye drop down to second place. A 21-15 defeat away to Sussex has seen Northamptonshire also drop one place in the division to third, their 113 points four off the top, however they have played one game more than the two teams above them. Cambridgeshire move up one place to fourth following their huge 27-9 home win over West Midlands, they have a game in hand on the team directly above them Northamptonshire and are just one point behind them and only five short of leaders Hertfordshire.
Divisional leaders Hertfordshire took no fewer than three of the four match awards as George Killington with a tremendous 36.47 average and 4-1 win over Cheshire’s Stuart Kellett collected the men’s ‘A’ award, Paul Squirrell won the men’s ‘B’ as he averaged 30.70 and won 4-2 against Rob Williams and Jodie Clarkson’s straight 3-0 win and 24.24 average against Andrea Davis earned her the ladies ‘B’ award. Oxfordshire’s Deta Hedman was the only non-Hertfordshire award winner as she walked away with the ladies ‘A’ award after beating Derbyshire’s Rebecca Hoyland 3-0 with a 25.91 average.
Even a large 23-13 home win over Tyne and Wear was not enough to keep Gwent top of the L-Style Division one table as Suffolk moved up from second place in the table to take over pole position with a huge 27-9 home win over bottom of the division Devon. The win gives Suffolk a total of 141 points and a small one point advantage over now second in the division Gwent who in turn have a twenty-one points lead on third placed Berkshire who were held to an 18-18 draw at home by Buckinghamshire.
Top averages for division one went to, for the men’s ‘A’ Nick Kenny (Gwent) and Dylan Williams (Gwynedd) who both had 30.83 averages and in turn with straight 4-0 results accounted for David Stokell (Tyne and Wear) and Darren Tyler (Leicestershire), the ‘B’ award went to Jordan Gissing (Suffolk) who beat Devon’s Scott Andrews 3-0 with a 30.67 average.
For the ladies ‘A’ Buckinghamshire’s Fallon Sherrock had a 3-0 win and a magnificent 33.40 average in her 3-0 win over Berkshire’s Sophie Self while the ‘B’ teams top award went to Cheryl Jones (Gwent) who defeated Tyne and Wear’s Wendy Huskinson 3-0 and averaged 20.31.
A 21-15 home win over Surrey has seen Salopian move up three places in the division two table and return to pole position with a total of 113 points. Former leaders Middlesex lost 19-17 away to Clwyd and drop three places to fourth with 108 points the same number as third placed Clwyd and just one short of Wiltshire whose 18-18 home draw with Norfolk has seen them hold on to the number two spot with 109 points.
Worcestershire’s Luke Smith was the men’s ‘A’ team top player with a 4-0 win over Nottinghamshire’s Andy Russell and 32.85 average while the men’s ‘B’ award went to Paul Harvey (Nottinghamshire) who had a 29.47 average and 3-0 win over Dave Honey (Worcestershire).
The ladies ‘A’ top average of 24.24 was shared by Laura Patton (County Durham) and Sophie Hadley (Worcestershire) who won 3-0 in turn against Sheridan Chapman (West of England) and Hayley Underwood (Nottinghamshire). Wendy Reinstadtler’s 3-1 win over Clwyd’s Neeley Street plus her 22.16 average earned her the ladies ‘B’ award.
No change in the top three places in division three with Northumberland increasing their lead at the top of the table from eleven to twenty points following their 22-14 home win over Bedfordshire plus a rearranged game nine fixture in which they won 27-9 at home against Pembrokeshire. Second placed Breconshire suffered a 20-16 defeat away to Cumbria who are third in the division, thanks to the win Cumbria halving their deficit on Breconshire from fourteen to seven points. Although both Breconshire and Cumbria trail Northumberland by respective twenty and twenty-seven points they both have a game in hand on the leaders
Top averages for division three went to for the men’s ‘A’ Llew Bevan (Pembrokeshire) who had a 30.36 average and 4-0 win over Isle of Wight’s Mark Edwards. The ‘B’ award went to Paul Kemeys (Breconshire) who won in three straight legs against Cumbria’s Will Rowley and averaged 27.83. Bedfordshire’s Maria Perrin had a 3-1 success over Phonsawan Whillis (Northumberland) to lift the ladies ‘A’ award for her 23.10 average and for the ‘B’ it was Jenni Bridgens (Gloucestershire) who earned the award for her 17.68 average and 3-0 win over Wirral’s Julie Dillon.

After kicking-off the new season in the Cosmo Darts Premier Division of the UKDA National League with three consecutive defeats Warwickshire have now made it two back-to-back wins which has seen them move up two places in the table to seventh with ninety-four points from five games to leave them with a game in hand on four of the six teams above them and only seventeen points short of third placed Cornwall.
The weekend didn’t get off to the best of starts as the ladies ‘B’ went down 5-1 with Marian Conway their solitary winner beating Dawn Simmonds 3-1 with a 17.10 average to claim the match award. Before Marian stepped up to the oche Warwickshire ladies ’B’ trailed 2-0 as Melanie Jones lost 3-0 to Laura Turner and Kris Meek after going 2-0 up against Karen Webber then lost 3-2. Marian pulled one back in the third game but in the fourth Chloe McKivett-Saunders, like team mate Kris Meek opened up a 2-0 lead and then lost 3-2 to Susan Power. Yet again in the fifth Nina Bolt won the opening two legs and she also surrendered her lead and lost 3-2 to Pennie Lewis before Tracy North (Hampshire) came from 1-0 down to Angela Jones to win the final game 3-1 giving the hosts a 4-1 victory.
Sam Dyke gave Hampshire the early lead when he opened up with a 4-1 win over Lee Miller, however the home team’s lead didn’t last long as Warwickshire strung together a run of four successive wins. Mark Carter began the quartet of wins coming from 2-0 and 3-2 down against Steve Musson to go on and win 4-3. Mark Carter won the first two legs against Ryan Groves and although he was pegged back to 2-2 went on to seal a 4-2 win. Taking the score along to 3-1 in the visitors favour was Scott Hope who had a similar 4-2 win in his tie with Graham Chalk before Warwickshire’s man of the match Noah Rose extended the lead to 4-1 with his 4-1 win over Andy Mitchell, Rose having wining legs of 18,11,24 and 16 darts giving him a 28.10 average, his eleven darts game seeing him score 84,140,177 and then checking out on 100 in two darts.
Warwickshire’s lead was extended to 5-2 as the second half got underway, William Naylor beating Dan Rosher 4-3 and with Adam Hancock coming from 2-1 and 3-1 down and going on to win 4-3 against Spencer Rooney the away side were in an unassailable 6-2 lead and they didn’t have to wait long before that lead was turned into a match winning 7-2 lead as Samuel Whittaker beat James Nicholson 4-2 after Nicholson came from two down to level terms before Whittaker clinched his win in 18 and 21 darts. Martin Tonks made it 8-2 with a 4-2 win over Dan Coates and with a similar 4-2 win for Dave Hill over Rob Doran Warwickshire were leading 9-2. The last game of the day went to Hampshire when their Dave Bonnett won 4-3 against Mark Strong after Strong had gone 3-1 up. The final score 9-3 to Warwickshire.
The ladies ‘A’ reversed their ‘B’ team’s 5- 1 defeat and won 5-1. Lady of the match Donna Pinch opened up the proceedings with a 3-1 win over Abi Jurd after Jurd had won the first leg, Donna’s average 20.88. Kirsty Hinchcliffe doubled the lead with her 3-2 win over Jane Monaghan before the hosts got their first stripe on the board in the third when Sue Lowther won 3-0 against Wendy Adams, but that was to be Hampshire’s one and only win as Courtney Hine won 3-1 against Susan Power, Caroline Pike beat Becca Edwards 3-2 and wrapping up the 5-1 win was Hannah Meek who had a 3-1 win over Joanne Senior in the final game.
As in the ladies ‘A’ game the award winner for the men’s ‘A’ was found in the very first encounter as Kevin Dowling chalked up a straight 4-0 win over Richard North with a 29.91 average in which he had winning legs of 17,17,16 and 17 darts. Taking the score along nicely to 2-0 was Jamie Hughes who beat Andy Jurd 4-2. Gareth Braham was taken to a deciding leg by Paul Walker but won it in twenty darts and with a further 4-2 win for Matty Washbrooke over John Hardwick Warwickshire were 4-0 up. That lead was halved by the midway point as Aaron Turner beat Samuel Price 4-0 and Mike Symes won 4-3 against Wayne Mynard giving a 4-2 scoreline in favour of the away side at the break.
Hampshire reduced the deficit even further as the second half got underway, Arron Monk winning 4-0 against Noel Grant. A 5-3 lead was opened up in the eighth when Jamie Atkins won 4-2 against Chas Barstow after Barstow had gone 1-0 and 2-1 up. Nigel Heydon had 1-0 and 2-1 leads over Sam Rooney but it was the home player who got the 4-2 verdict. Assuring the away side of at least a draw was Steve Hine, his 4-2 win over Scott Walters taking the running score to 6-4 to Warwickshire and with Jenson Walker coming from 3-0 down to win 4-3 against Kev Woodward Warwickshire’s men’s ‘A’ team were home and dry leading 7-4. The final game went to Hampshire’s Justin Bradshaw, a 4-1 win over Jack Wareing taking the final score to 7-5 and giving Warwickshire an overall 22-14 victory.

West Midlands visit to Cambridgeshire in what was their fifth fixture of the season in the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division of the UKDA National League turned out to be a weekend to forget as all four of their teams lost.
The ladies ‘B’ went 3-0 down as Sheralee Raven beat Claire Hobbs 3-1, Carol Bareham won 3-0 against Debbie Davies and Pauline Donat beat Shellbie Simmons 3-1. Crysta Wilcox momentarily stopped the rot as she beat Lindsey Wingell 3-1 with an 11.17 average but that was to be West Midlands only winner as Hannah Rampley won 3-2 against Gemma Barrett and Gema Law took the final score to 5-1 to Cambridgeshire with her 3-0 win over Kelly Doleman.
Mark Craddock gave the men’s ‘B’ a winning start as he accounted for Andrew Hircock with a 4-2 result but as it turned out that was to be the only shining light for West Midlands in the first half as Phil Johnson-Hale, Simon Cassidy, Billy Howard, Matthew Wing and Connor Arberry chalked up respective wins over Ian Stanton (4-2), Alex Simmons (4-3), Glen McGrandle (4-3), Luke Griffiths (4-0) and Karl Hughes (4-3) to put the home side 5-1 up at the break.
As in the opening first half game West Midlands won the first of the second half as Paul Price beat Andy Turpin 4-0. Cambridgeshire’s four games advantage was restored in the eighth when Simon Bewley won 4-1 against Kieran O’Mahoney before West Midlands got their man of the match in the form of Kevin Bambrick who averaged 27.45 in his straight 4-0 win over Martin Pettit. Bambrick’s win kick-started West Midlands best run of the match as they then added two further wins from Ryan Locker and Ash Khayat who had respective 4-2 and 4-3 wins over Will Harwood and Douggie McInerney taking the score along to 6-5 to the hosts but still keeping West Midlands hopes of a draw alive. Sam Kilby killed off those dreams as he beat Chris Stanley 4-0 to give the home team a 7-5 win.
Going into Sunday’s game West Midlands were trailing 12-6 and there was little respite from the ladies ‘A’ as they like their ‘B’ side fell to a 5-1 defeat, Karen Stanhope giving the home side the early lead when she won 3-1 against Tara Simmons-Fullwood. Jacqueline Maiden not only cancelled out Stanhope’s win when she beat Juliet Findley 3-0 but also clinched her team’s match award as she turned out to be their sole winner with a 19.52 average. Cambridgeshire rounded off their 5-1 win with further wins from Amy Grant (3-0 against Julie Emery), Amanda Harwood (3-1 against Jodie Rowlands), Casey Hill (3-2 against Sarah Maybury) and Barbara Greatbatch who won 3-0 in her game with Katherine Jenkins.
Now trailing 17-7 it would take a mammoth result from the men’s ‘A’ to even obtain a share of the spoils for the weekend and although Shaun Carroll got them off on the right foot with his 4-2 win over David Mayle and 27.73 man of the match average it was never going to be as the hosts then rattled off seven consecutive wins to not only win the men’s ‘A’ game but also seal an overall win for the weekend. Getting the seven wins underway was Antony Richardson with his 4-1 victory over Dean Simmons-Fullwood, Richardson was followed by Dennis Harbour who won 4-2 against Ian Jones. A 4-3 win for Stuart Ward over Gavin Baker plus a 4-2 success for Simon Hill over Jack Aldridge and 4-0 win for Michael Bodle against Richard Platt took Cambridgeshire’s lead to 5-1 by the halfway point.
The onslaught continued as the second half got underway, David Shaw winning 4-3 against Ryan O’Connor and with a 4-1 win for Mark Lynn over Darren Williams the hosts were in an unassailable 7-1 lead. Rob Thompson pulled one back for the West Midlands in the ninth when he beat Tony Clark 4-2 but the last three games all went in the home team’s favour as Richard German beat Ben Johnson 4-3, Ian Withers won 4-1 against Owen Maiden and rounding off a 10-2 victory was Steve Carrett with his 4-1 win against Michael Baker.
The defeat has seen West Midlands remain one place off the foot of the table and although they have a game in hand on two of the teams above them they are now some eleven points short of safety and really need to get a couple of wins under their belts.

There were mixed fortunes for Salopian’s ladies in their fifth fixture in division two of the UKDA National League as on Saturday the ‘B’ side finished on the wrong side of a 5-1 scoreline and then on Sunday the ‘A’ team turned that result around and won by the same margin.
Playing at home against Surrey Salopian began the game fourth in the division leading their eighth placed visitors by some seventeen points but it was not a good start for the home team as Surrey stormed into a match winning 4-0 lead when Tricia Wright and Viv Fowlie in turn won 4-0 against Chloe Ames and Rachael Mooney and with 3-2 and 3-1 wins from Karen Carder and Mandy Pawley over Emma O’Callaghan and Helen Walmesley the result was beyond Salopian’s reach. Julie Griffiths was the home team’s only winner as in game five she beat Marie Barthrop 3-0 totake thematch award for her 15.49 average. The final 3-1 result went to Surrey’s Teri Walker who beat Hayley McGuinness.
What a difference a day makes!! And that was certainly the case for the ladies ‘A’ as although they lost the opener when Tania Cox beat Kate Titley 3-1 the remaining five games all went to Salopian. Tracey Dean levelled the game with her 3-1 win over Lisa Jane Munt and with a 3-2 win for Emma Tapp over Vikki Norman the home team were ahead for the first time in the game. Sue Lane made it 3-1 when she won 3-0 against Eloise Milburn and with a similar 3-0 win for Steph Clarke over Ashley Smith Salopian were home and dry leading 4-1. With the game already won the home team found their lady of the match in the very last game when Evonne Taylor won 3-0 against Vicky Pilgrim with a 20.59 average.
Shaun Pryce gave the men’s ‘B’ the ideal start with his man of the match performance and straight 3-0 win over Andy Bridgman, Shaun taking the award with a 28.90 average. Scott Towers doubled Salopian’s lead when he won 3-2 against Gary Todd but from two up parity was then restored as Surrey’s Jack Brownsmead beat Dean Rogers 3-0 and Paul Tudor won 3-2 against Andy Gilbert. A 3-1 win for Andy Evans against Kevin Rayneford restored the home teams lead but it was short lived as Paul Secular’s 3-2 win in his game with Steven Ritchie made it all-square at the midway point of the match.
The second half began similar to the first with the home side winning the first two games as Glyn Thomas and Jay Adams in turn both won 3-2 against Gary Davies and Tony Hammond. Again like the first half Salopian’s two games lead was cancelled out as 3-0 wins from Surrey’s Jake Carter and Charlie Green over respective opponents Jason Davies and Rowan Price took the running total to 5-5. Kacey Jones assured the hosts of at the worst a share of the points as he beat James Wilcox 3-1 but with a 3-2 success for Rob Trumper over Richard Cox Salopian finished as 7-5 winners.
It could not have been a much better start for the men’s ‘A’ team as they stormed into a 5-0 lead thanks to wins from man of the match Mark Crutchley, Paul Rowley, Gary Crowther, Ben Morgan and Jamie Kynaston. Mark Crutchley won 4-1 against Neville Wright with a 27.73 average while Paul Rowley beat Steve Lovett 4-3, Gary Crowther and Ben Morgan won 4-1 in turn against Peter Noel and Jack Brownsmead and chalking up the fifth win was Jamie Kynaston who accounted for Kirk De Ruyter with a 3-2 result. Surrey pulled one back in the last of the first half games when Harrison Firmager beat Eddie Price 4-2.
Ben Bevan put a win for Surrey out of reach when he began the second half with a 4-3 win over their Matt Carter. The win for Salopian’s men’s ‘A’ was delayed as Gary Creamer reduced the arrears to 6-2 when he won 4-2 against Jon Mansell, however game number eight saw the magical seventh win go up on the scoreboard for Salopian when Ash Hilditch won 4-3 against Darryl Pilgrim. The visitors then chalked up two consecutive wins as Nick Ellis won 4-2 against Matt Elsey and Darren Bryant won 4-0 against James Mansell. The final score was taken to 8-4 to Salopian when Terry Nash ended the weekend’s fixture with a 4-1 win over Jake Carter.
The overall 21-15 victory for Salopian has seen them return to pole position from fourth in the division with a total of 113 points, four more than their nearest rivals, second placed Wiltshire who were held to an 18-18 draw at home by Norfolk

As Shropshire went into their fifth game of the season in division three of the YKDA National League they were languishing near the foot of the table, just two places off the bottom with 72 points and only a four points advantage over next to bottom Montgomery and Radnor who were to be their opponents in this their latest fixture.
Michele Pritchard gave the ladies ‘B’ a fine start when she opened up with a straight 3-0 win over Emma Martin and in the process Michele earned herself the match award for her 15.34 average, however her win was quickly cancelled out as Liz Jones beat Kirsty Millington 3-1 and with a 3-2 win for Shelly Mulliner over Sandra Beardsmore Montgomery and Radnor were 2-1 up. Jo Meachin restored parity with her 3-0 success over Rachel Mountford and Shropshire’s lead was restored in the fifth encounter when Kelly Millington beat Sam Lloyd with a similar 3-0 scoreline. The final game went to the wire with the visitors Jane Jones just getting the 3-2 edge on Trish Ball to put the final score all-level at 3-3.
The men’s ‘B’ side had a somewhat slow start as Dickie Davies gave the away team the opening win when he won 3-0 against Andre Knox and although Rob Pitt was able to level the score with his 3-2 success over John Offa Montgomery and Radnor then went 3-1 up after adding 3-2 wins from Adrian Marsh and Paul Price who in turn defeated Brian Hickman and Adam Thackray. Paul Penfold reduced the arrears with his 3-2 win over Byron Jones and by the halfway stage the game was all-square after Anthony Whitehouse added his 3-0 win over Paul Ballantyne to Shropshire’s tally.
It was a much better start to the second half as Shropshire chalked up wins in the first three games. Paul Harrison beat Ben Marston 3-2 and was followed by John Simms who won 3-0 against Rob Shingler. On at number nine was Shropshire’s man of the match Dave Lucas who in his 3-1 win over Neil Astley had an average of 27.28, Dave’s win taking the home side into an unbeatable 6-3 lead. That lead however was reduced as Jerry Moynihan (Montgomery and Radnor) won 3-2 against Chris Evans and then reduced even further when Lee Burton beat Clark Cook 3-1 to leave the result hinging on the final game of the day. The twelfth encounter was between Jon Blakemore (Shropshire) and Andy Waters, the former getting the 3-1 verdict to clinch a 7-5 win for the hosts and a 10-8 lead to take into Sunday’s games.
As early as the second game on Sunday saw the running score levelled as Montgomery and Radnor’s Kelly Butler and Sally Urwin won the opening two games of the ladies ‘A’ match against respective opponents Sarah Williams and Dianne Newton 3-2 and 3-1. Jenna-Louise Ball was Shropshire’s first winner as she accounted for Shaz Shepherd with a 3-2 result. Marie Riggs then levelled the game at two each with her 3-1 success over Louise Davies only to see the away side forge ahead again with a 3-1 win from Katie Bellerby over Sophie Ward to put pressure on the last two players whose result would determine either a win for Montgomery and Radnor or a draw. For the home side, on the day they had kept their best till last as Nicola Ball turned in a lady of the match performance to beat Susie Lewis 3-1 with a 17.85 average to put the final score level at 3-3.
With only the men’s ‘A’ result to be added on Shropshire were leading 13-11 and even a 7-5 defeat would see them record an overall 18-18 draw but in their lowly position a draw was not what they required and it was not what they get as they made their intensions clear from their first half performances,
Reece Cook-Lucas put the host’s one up when he made short work of his opponent Tony Lloyd with a 4-0 result and although the away team levelled in the second when Mitch Butler just got the 4-3 edge on Rob Pierce by the break Shropshire were leading 5-1. Richard Parker put Shropshire’s noses in from for a second time when he won 4-0 against Dan Petty and with a similar 4-0 result for Sam Aitkens over Des Francis that lead was extended to 3-1. Making it 4-1 was man of the match Andrew Jervis who was another player to hand out a 4-0 whitewash against his opponent Stanley Lloyd, Jervis securing the match award with a 27.08 average. Going into the halfway break Steven Lynch rounded off the half with a 4-3 win against Roger Williams to take the score to 5-1.
It was not such a good start to the second session as Montgomery and Radnor reduced their opponents lead to 5-3 when John Williams-Jones and Jason Griffiths in turn won 4-1 against Phil Clarke and Gavin Brooks and although Andy Vellender (Shropshire) won by the same 4-1 margin against Mark Bellerby, further wins for the visitors from Phil Austin and Tony Burton who in turn won 4-1 and 4-2 against Dave Bayton and Chris Fox left the result all dependant on the final game of the day. Anchor-man for Shropshire was Kevin Harris who squared up to Terry Williams. The 4-2 result went to Harris to give a final score of 7-5 to Shropshire and for the weekend an overall 20-16 victory for the home teams.
Despite the win Shropshire remain in eighth position but they have extended their lead over their opponents and next to bottom of the division Montgomery and Radnor from four to eleven points.
