For the very first time COVID-19 has affected the Four Oaks and District League and as a result it saw division one leaders Boldmere St Mikes suffer their first defeat of the season as they had to conceded a 9-0 walkover by their opponents fellow division one team Golden Hind in the second round of the Brian Goodman Cup.

Division one side Red Lion narrowly avoided defeat against Bishop Vesey who are currently placed second in the second division table. In a tight match a 2-1 win in the final game gave Red Lion a narrow 5-4 victory. Golden Hind Lions (division one) had a 4-1 lead over Plough and Arrows (division two) but still needed the final game to win 5-4. In the all division one clash Erdington Arrows beat Oscott Social Club 6-3.

In the second round of the Ken Rust Cup it was well played Heartlands as the second division leaders beat first division opponents Highcroft Social 6-3. Old Oscott Arrows (division one) won 8-1 at Rosey Mac’s and in the all division two tussles Bill’s Arrows won 6-3 against St Thomas Arrows and Erdington Flyers had a close 4-3 verdict over Charley’s Flights.

A narrow 5-4 home defeat at the hands of the Langley Arrows outfit has seen Sheldon Marlborough Arrows lose not only their number one spot in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League but also their unbeaten record. Langley Arrows remain third in the table with Sheldon Marlborough Arrows dropping to second behind new leaders Dunky’s Boys whose 6-3 home success over Hornet gives them a slender average lead over both Sheldon Marlborough and Langley Arrows, all of the top three teams are on 12 points.

Results for division one and two had no affect on the league tables whatsoever as division one leaders Sheldon Dukes added a 9-0 whitewash over Meadway Sports and Social to their account to give them a huge six points advantage over second and third placed Kingshurst Labour Club and Hollywood Social who in turn lost 7-2 to Yardley Ex Colts and 6-3 to Shirley Misfits.

Division two leaders Willclare Sports and Social took their undefeated run to six games with a convincing 8-1 win against Lyndon Old Boys to put them ahead of second placed Journeys End on average, with a game in hand after Journeys won their home tie with Hampton and Solihull CC 5-4. Third in the division Langley Flights beat Sheldon Marlborough Ridge 6-3 to keep within two points of the two teams above them.

Finding the three treble twenties this week were Lee Molyneux (Sheldon Dukes), Ray Evans (Kingshurst Labour Club) and Dave Sheridan (Lyndeon Old Boys).

Three fixtures played in the Camp Hill League this week and all three finished with a close 4-3 result. League leaders Aston Inn Nomads suffered their first defeat in fifteen games as they went down playing away to third in in the league Roost Rebels. Despite the defeat Aston hold on to pole position, their lead now reduced to six points over their nearest rivals Sheldon Marlborough Flights who won against fifth placed Tyseley Newbies, Sheldon also have a game in hand on the leaders.

It was top versus bottom in both divisions of the Shirley and District Monday Night League as in division one top of the table Dunky’s Boys played hosts to Saracens Misfits and beat them 8-1 and although they have played one game more than second and third placed Tippetts Bar and Lodge Dunky’s have a four points lead over both teams.

Division two leaders Wythall Legion won their home fixture with Saracens Slingers 7-2, they are two points to the good on second placed Solihull Municipal who won 5-4 playing away against fourth in the division Vikings who are a further two points adrift.

With their two nearest rivals losing, Dudley Ex-Serviceman’s Club have opened up a six points lead with a game in hand at the top of the Netherton Thursday Night League. The Ex Serviceman’s won their tie at bottom of the table Netherton Conservative Club 8-1 while second placed Townsend Social Club somewhat surprisingly lost 7-2 away to Netherton Sports and Social Club who are just two places off the foot of the table. Old Hill Cricket Club lost their third place after going down 6-3 at home to Fairfield and replacing them at number three is Bulls Head who won 6-3 at Spring Meadow Social Club to put them on the same 30 points as Townsend.

A 5-2 win at Bird in Hand takes White Horse to eight undefeated games in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League and gives them a two points lead plus a game in hand in second in the table Britannia who had a bye this week. Woodman, Ten Arches and Gate Hangs Well are all on 12 points, a further two behind Britannia with Ten Arches having played ten games, one more than Woodman and Gate.

No change for the top two teams in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League as they both had close 4-3 wins. Leaders Bird in Hand ‘E’ beat their ‘A’ team while second placed Fox Inn (Lye), who are on the same 14 points as the top side and trail on average only, won against Ten Arches ‘B’.

Third in the table Bell ‘A’ have only played seven games, they are two points behind the two teams above them but with two games in hand.
