Norfolk v Derbyshire
Derbyshire had their first fixture of the season in Division Three of the BDO Inter County Championships a home tie with Merseyside cancelled to a later date but brought forward one week their scheduled second game away to Norfolk.
Last season Derbyshire, after an opening draw with Merseyside began a run of three consecutive wins all started by their 20-16 win over Norfolk but playing away this current season was a completely different story as they suffered a huge 24-12 defeat.
Both of the ladies teams finished on the wrong side of 4-2 results with Rebecca Hoyland the ‘A’ team’s lady of the match, Rebecca having a very respectable 20.59 average. For the ‘B’ team Sara-Jane Harrison was their top player, taking the award with a 15.87 average.
It was certainly not a good weekend for the men as on Saturday the ’B’ side lost 7-5 with Paul Williams the man of the match for his 25.11 average and taking the ‘A’ team’s award with a 24.97 average was Benjamin Holmes as the team result was a 9-3 win for Norfolk.
The heavy defeat leaves Derbyshire in the bottom three of the division, just two points to the good on next to bottom Cumbria with Merseyside at the foot of the table as they haven’t played a game as yet.
