Internationals, County, Super League and local league players all turned out for the two prestigious main events at the Winmau Darts Centre, Wolverhampton, all chasing the top prize of £1500 for each of the two competitions the Winmau BDO Wolverhampton Classic Singles and the Winmau BDO Wolverhampton Classic Singles.
In excess of 130 players turned out for Saturday’s Classic event with three of the four quarter finals games finishing with a 4-2 scoreline as in turn Wesley Newton, Dave Parletti and Mike Warburton defeated Martin C.Adams, Nick Kenny and Wayne Warren. The remaining game saw Scott Baker beat Paul Hogan 4-1.
The first of the semi-finals went to the wire with Dave Parletti just getting the 5-4 verdict over Wesley Newton while Scott Baker recorded an emphatic 5-0 win against Mike Warburton.
The best of eleven legs final went to the wire with West Midlands County player Scott Baker winning the deciding leg in what was a very close 6-5 victory. Surrey’s Dave Parletti received £700 as runner up and there was £300 for each of the losing semi-finalists, £150 for the losing quarter finalists, £100 for players losing in the last sixteen, £50 for players losing in the last 32 and £25 for players going out in the last 64.

After narrowly losing out 6-5 to West Midlands man Scott Baker in the final of the Winmau BDO Wolverhampton Classic Singles event, the very next day Surrey’s Dave Parletti went one better to win the Winmau BDO Wolverhampton Open.
In the semi-finals Parletti had a somewhat comfortable 5-1 win over Andy Hamilton then joining him in the final after winning 5-3 against Wesley Newton in the semis was Mark Layton from Wales.
The final saw Parletti claim the top prize of £1,500 with a 6-3 result and runner up Layton receive £700. There was £300 for Hamilton and Newton, £150 for the losing quarter finalists, £100 for players losing in the last sixteen, £50 for players losing in the last 32 and £25 for players going out in the last 64.
