In division one of the BDO Inter County Championships West Midlands played an away game against Gwent and returned with a 24-12 win to consolidate their number two position in the promotion table and extend their lead over third placed Dorset from one point to twelve.
Saturday’s games got off to a fine start with the ladies ‘B’ winning 5-1, Claire Hobbs with an 18.56 average taking the match award. The men’s ‘B’ added to the lead with their terrific 9-3 victory, top man Dave Robbins chalking up a 26.78 average.
The ladies ‘A’ team stormed into a 3-1 lead but in the end had to be content with a 3-3 draw Gemma Barrett recording a lady of the match average of 23.12. Rounding off the fixture the men’s ‘A’ completed a very satisfying weekend with a 7-5 win, their top player being Nick Fullwell with a 28.97 average.
