Following their opening 23-13 defeat away to reigning champions Yorkshire in the premier division of the BDO Inter County Championships Warwickshire got their season underway in their first home game recording a 21-15 win against Nottinghamshire to lift them four places in the table to sixth.
Both men’s teams won the ‘A’ side winning 9-3 with Ted Evetts in superb form recording a straight 4-0 win over Andy McCracken. The ‘B’ team were 7-5 winners with Ian McFarlane (28.74) taking the match award for the second consecutive fixture.
The ladies ‘A’ after trailing 1-0 and 2-1 finished all square at three each, Trina Gulliver their top player with a 22.43 average, while the ‘B’ side went down 4-2 Helen Rigg (14.69) taking the match award.

In division one of the BDO Inter County Championships West Midlands played hosts to Cleveland bouncing back from their opening 20-16 defeat at Hampshire to beat their visitors 24-12 with three of the four teams winning, the men’s ‘B’ the only team not to win and they finished level with a 6-6 draw Robert Smith (29.47) their man of the match.
The men’s ‘A’ side won 7-5 winning the last three games to seal their victory and with a 30.94 average Nick Fullwell took the match award.
The ladies were in tremendous form with the ‘A’ side handing out a 6-0 whitewash to their counterparts and the ‘B’ dropping just one game to win 5-1. Sarah Roberts (23.48) for the second time in as many games took the ‘A’ team’s award and for the ‘B’ it was Jacqueline Maiden with a 17.80 average.

Despite there still being a few outstanding results the main issues in the Sheldon and District Summer League are all sorted with Iron Horse Flights taking the division one title but it was oh so close as they only won it by three legs of average over Langley Hall Sports and Social Arrows. The Harvester were the division two champions while Highwood KB’s won division three, and winning division four was Small Heath Amateur Gardeners.
The league also played off the finals of their Mrs F.Richman Trophy and with some consolation for just missing out on the division one title it was Langley Hall Sports and Social Arrows who picked up the silverware with a final 5-2 win over Maggies. Langley beat Castle Vale Residents 5-2 in the semis while Maggies had a closer 4-3 verdict over Holy Souls.

The Four Oaks and District League played the first fixtures of their new season and Boldmere St Mikes started the season’s campaign in division one with a 7-2 win against Bishop Vesey in a match that produced no fewer than 38 tons. The Boat also had a 7-2 result at Drakes Drum, while Old Oscott Arrows turned a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 victory at Plough and Arrows. Golden Hind left it late at Old Oscott WMC winning the last leg of the match to seal their 5-4 win.
In division two St Thomas’s Social Club outscored The Boot but lost the game 5-4. Red Lion and Erdington Club in turn had 6-3 wins over Erdington Arrows and The Duke but the biggest winners of the night were The Fox who accounted for Rosey Mac’s with an 8-1 scoreline.
The first 180’s of the season were hit by M.Horacek (The Fox) and J.Collins (St Thomas’s).

Cup week in the Camp Hill League, in the second round of the League Cup Emerald Club defeated Wagon and Horses and in round one of the Consolation Cup New Inns accounted for Station Wagon.

East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association remain undefeated after the first three games in the Small Heath League their latest success being a convincing 8-1 win over Emerald Club who are currently bottom of the table without a win.
Mitre suffered a 5-4 defeat at Wagon and Horses and drop from second to fourth in the table, their victors replacing them in the number two spot two points behind the leaders as are Gulp Tribe who won 6-3 against Cob’s Bar.

A 2-0 win over Paul Sunner has seen Paul Brown take over pole position in the premier division of the Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club Singles League with a total of 14 points from 12 games, however Brown only leads on average as both Dave Humphries and Dave Howlett, who are also on 14 points have games in hand on Brown.
A similar situation in the championships division as Alan Wale tops the table with 14 points again only on average from Ray Turner, third in the table Matt Murrin despite trailing by four points has two games in hand on the leading duo.
With 2-0 wins against Pete Ayling and Dave Brown Kevin Salsbury heads division one on 20 points but John Young’s 2-0 win against Dave Brown puts him on 14 points with three games in hand on Salsbury.

A final reminder that the Winmau Centre in the Wolverhampton Indoor Community Sports Stadium will be staging an Open Darts Knockout this coming Saturday 15th October which will carry a guaranteed prize pot of £1,000 with £500 going to the eventual winner, £250 to the runner up and £125 for each of the losing semi finalists, all for just a £10 entry fee.
Doors will open at 10.00am with entries being accepted on the day between 11.00am and 12noon with match play commencing at 12.30pm, all players PDC, BDO and county are welcome to enter.

Week two in the Aston League and out of the eight teams only Kingstanding Ex Serviceman’s Club have a 100% win record, Red Lion, Sportsmans Rest and Old Oscott WMC in turn suffered first defeats against Mitre, Erdington Club and Kingstanding Ex Serviceman’s Club, however Red Lion remain in second place on average from a following pack of five teams.
Drakes Drum, Mitre and Erdington Club all chalked up their first wins of the season.

Round two of their League Cup was on the agenda for the Brierley Hill Monday Night League with all four results going as expected with wins for High Acres, The Bridge, Blue Brick and The Swan who in turn knocked out Pensnett Liberal Club, The Bell, Dudley Sports ‘A’ and New Talbot.

The one remaining fixture in division one of the Kings Norton League between Toby Jug and Stirchley United was played off and resulted in a 4-3 win for Stirchley.
In division two Rubery RBL with a 5-2 win over Coldstream kept themselves in the hunt for the title as the win puts them within two points of leaders Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club with two to play, the Ex Serviceman’s Club only have one remaining fixture.

There is no stopping the two Pensnett Welfare Club’s in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League as both teams took their undefeated run to six games, the ‘A’ side handed out a 7-0 thrashing to The Bell while the ‘B’ team inflicted a first defeat on their hosts Samson and Lion when they beat them 4-3.
After the leading duo there are three teams all on 10 points Brickmakers Arms, Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ and Samson and Lion, Brickmakers beating Britannia 7-0 and the cricket club winning by the same margin at Ten Arches.

Ten Arches ‘B’ leaders of the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League had a vital clash with third placed Ashwood cancelled but despite not playing hold on to pole position with 64 points from 37 games. Second placed Brickmakers Arms missed the opportunity to go top when they lost their home tie with fourth in the table Ten Arches ‘A’ 6-3. Bird ‘A’ (Stourbridge) take over third place from Ashwood after their 8-1 win over bottom of the table Cat Inn (Wordsley) and with the majority of teams now having just three games to play all of the top four teams are on 64 points but Bird ‘A’ have played one fewer than the other three and could snatch the title from their rivals.

Top verses bottom in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League as leaders Dewdrop hosted next to bottom of the table Old Court House and beat them 7-0 to stay eight points ahead of second placed Island Inn who were 5-2 winners at bottom placed Horseley Tavern. Third in the table Old Hop Pole extended their lead over fourth placed The Vine by beating them 4-3 to leave them ten points off the top.

A 5-4 win at Members Club as almost guaranteed White Horse the Cradley Tuesday Night League title as they are now four points to the good on their nearest rivals Crown (Station Road) with a massive average advantage and only two games to play. Crown (Station Road) confirmed themselves at the worst runners up as they won 5-4 at home to Netherton Sports and Social to put them eight points clear of third placed Brickmakers Arms.

A 4-3 home defeat by Bulls Head was the first defeat in thirteen games for Dudley Sports and Social in the Netherton Thursday Night League, however they remain in pole position with a three points lead over White Swan and Bulls Head, White Swan winning 7-0 against The Crown to place them second on average over Bulls Head. The top two teams have played thirteen games Bulls Head fourteen.

After only seven games in the Bilston and District League The Nutan have a four points lead at the top of both the 301 and 501 leagues. In the 301 league they had a 7-0 win at home against 44 Club and followed that by beating them 2-1 in the 501 league.
Lanesfield RBL are currently second in the 301 league with ten points from six games, Allens Sports Bar ‘B’ having the same points from the same number of games, both teams with a game in hand on Nutan.
The 501 league sees Allens ‘A’, Lanesfield RBL and Tilted Barrel all four points behind Nutan and all having a game in hand but trailing significantly on average.

After the opening five games Landywood ‘A’ top the West Midlands Men’s Super League table their latest 4-1 win over Cabin putting them seven points ahead of second in the table Crown ‘A’ whose 4-1 at Pensnett Welfare Club made it four wins in four games and leaves them with a game in hand on the top team.
Third placed Allens Sports Bar ‘A’ lost ground as they lost 3-2 at home to Staffordshire Knot and although they are on the same 23 points as Crown ‘A’ have played one game more.

The Royal recorded their first win in division one of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League a massive 7-0 victory over Bradmore ‘A’ to move off the foot of the table and be replaced at the bottom by their opponents. At the other end of the table Riley’s ‘C’ had a 5-2 win over Cabin and with 34 points and only one defeat in eighteen games are champions of the division as they lead second and third placed Gilberts Bar and Ashmore Inn by twelve points.
In division two leaders Sunbeam won 4-3 against Woodfield Social while their nearest rivals Pavilions lost a vital game by the same scoreline at home to Dog and Partridge who go level with them on 30 points, both teams trail Sunbeam by two points. Bottom of the division Red Lion recorded their first win in 21 games when they won their home tie with Ukrainian Club 4-3.

The Tettenhall Wednesday Night League played their doubles knockout down to the last two pairs and winning through to the final on the 14th December were Mark Bromley and Paul Bromley who will square up to Wayne Horton and Adam Cullum.

Wednesbury and Darlaston Wednesday Night League leaders Staffordshire Knot had a convincing 7-2 win over T and R Bar in week 26 while Black Horse did even better as they accounted for their visitors St Mary’s ‘B’ by handing them a 9-0 thrashing. St Mary’s ‘A’ did better than their ‘B’ side as they won 6-3 against Civil Defence and there was a 7-2 win for Horse and Jockey against Windmill.

With only four fixtures remaining in the Rowley Monday Night League any one of the top three teams could take the title as Springfield Social Club, The Bell and Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ are all locked together on 48 points. Ex Serviceman’s A’ were the week’s biggest winners an 8-1 verdict over Britannia, while league leaders Springfield were not far behind with their 7-2 success against Haden Cross ‘Z’, The Bell had a 6-3 win over Whiteheath Tavern.
