Week four in the new Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club Singles League and in the premiership division Dave Howlett continues to impress adding 2-1 wins over Sean O’Donnell and Paul Seadon to his tally to take his points score to 14 from 8 games and giving him a lead of four points over O’Donnell who dropped from second to third in the table and Dave Humphries who takes over in second place. Fourth in the table Adam Plows is another player with 10 points but he’s played one game more than the three players above him.

In the championship division Martin Cox moves up from third in the table to pole position following his 2-1 win over former leader Ken Salsbury and a straight 2-0 success against Jake Humphries, however Cox only leads on average as Salsbury, Pete Jones and Matt Murrin are all on the same 10 points, Murrin having a game in hand on the three top players.

Steve McCarthy lost 2-0 to Dave Brown and 2-1 to Ian Genge in division one and drops from the number one spot to second being replaced at the top by Nigel Ricketts who had 2-1 wins over both Pete Ayling and Dave Brown to put him on 12 points the same number as McCarthy.

The overall table sees Dave Howlett leading the field with 14 points just two ahead of both Nigel Ricketts and Steve McCarthy.

It was Divisional Cup week in the Forest of Arden Summer League and in division one it was top versus bottom as divisional leaders Journeys End took on bottom of the table Chelmsley Town and won 7-0. In the other division one game second placed Highwood KB beat next to bottom Crown Arrows 5-2.

Just one result from division two which saw leaders Journeys End Flights have a comfortable 6-1 win over Crown Arrows Flights.

There was a setback for leader of the Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League Kevin Harris in week five as he slipped to a 4-3 defeat against middle of the table Jay Hough. Reigning champion Mick Baker followed up a 6-1 win over Davinder Singh with a 4-3 win against Rob Harris to give him 60 points from eleven games leaving him nine points behind Harris with two games in hand. Baker has won all of his eleven games so far and the only other undefeated player in the 24 man league is Louis Burley who has moved up into third place with 58 points from ten games his latest wins being 7-0 against Paul Walters and 4-3 over Paul Boddison.

Court Oak continued their winning ways in division one of the Kings Norton League their latest victory being 4-3 over The Coppice who drop from third to fifth in the table, West Heath are second with eight points two fewer than Court Oak after their 5-2 home win over Reds. Taking over the number three spot is Hillyfields their 4-3 win over Stirchley United leaving them four points off the top.

Grant Arms moved up one place to take over at the top of division two after a 5-2 win at Coldstream, former leaders Rubery RBL are second on six points just two behind Grant with a game in hand.

The Brierley Hill Friday Night League staged their singles knockout and in the semi finals Ade Wakeman (Miners, Wollescote) had a close 2-1 win over Dan Haywood (The Cross, Oldswinford) while Carl Davies (Netherton Cricket Club) had a straight 2-0 win against Neil Cooper (Brickmakers Arms). The final was another close affair with Davies just getting the 3-2 verdict to clinch the title.

Dudley Sports ‘C’ consolidated their number one position in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League by handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitor’s bottom of the table Griffin. The win maintains the leaders four points advantage over nearest rivals The Bridge who were 6-3 winners away to Old Star, third placed Bulls Head (Netherton) fell further behind the leading duo as they suffered a 5-4 defeat away to middle of the table Roebuck and are now ten points off the top.

The South Birmingham League completed their Mini League season with a final fixture between St John’s and The Raven which saw the former win 16-11 to secure the title with 90 legs four more than their opponents who finished as runners up, Mackadown Social were third on 72 and Erdington Members Club fourth with 69.

A 39-9 win over Full Montie has seen 3 Yam Yams and A.Stokie open up a fourteen points lead at the top of the Winmau Centre Monday Night League and helping them on their way was Owen Maiden with a 180 and Mark Daniel with a superb 154 game shot. Second in the table Is It In were 29-19 winners against The Untouchables, Jimmy Handley in fine form for the winners as he notched no fewer than four maximums and also recorded a 156 finish, James Owen also hit a 180 for the victors.

With leaders of the Camp Hill League Cotterills Lane Club having their game with Grange Social Club cancelled second in the table Holy Gulp took advantage to reduce the arrears to just two points with a 5-2 win over Station Flights, however Gulp have now played two games more than Cotterills.

At the other end of the table there was a rare win for bottom placed New Inns who beat the team two places above them Devil’s Club 4-3.

Langley Hall Sports and Social Club staged their Classic 2016 Open and following his Riley’s Last Sunday in the Month victory was Mike McFall who throughout the day dropped just two legs one in the earlier rounds to Jamie Robinson and the other in the semi finals to Paul Nixon before going on to take the top prize of £400..

The final was a really entertaining high scoring affair with McFall hitting 11×100,3×180 a 135 finish plus he recorded two twelve darts legs, while his opponent Kevin Bambrick had top shots of 5×100 and 180, McFall coming out the convincing 6-0 winner.

Bambrick as runner up received £150 and there was £50 for each of the losing semi finalists Paul Nixon and Aaron Carter.

The Consolation Competition was won by Andy Hutchings who had a straight 3-0 win over Stuart Page in the final after beating Dane Wells by same the scoreline in the semi’s, Page was also a 3-0 winner in the last four against Mikey Harris. Hutchings received £70 and Page £30.

The Dudley Ex Serviceman’s second darts open was again won by winner of the first West Midlands player Nick Fullwell. Fullwell won his last four game against Richard Hosey 4-1 while his final opponent Phil Tonks won 4-2 against Robert Carr, the final saw Fullwell confirm his win with a 5-1 result.

East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association extended their lead at the top of the Small Heath League to six points when they defeated second placed Holy Gulp 6-3. Third placed Mitre who had their fixture with Emerald Club cancelled are on the same 14 points as Gulp as are Wagon and Horses but Mitre have now played one game fewer than their rivals.

The top two teams in the Rowley Monday Night League squared up to each other in week 17 and the outcome of the tie saw the two teams change places in the table as Ex Serviceman’s Club beat Springfield Social 5-4 to replace them in pole position and leave Springfield in second place two points adrift on 30 but just ahead of third placed The Bell on average who won their home game against Britannia 6-3.

The Vine have dropped one place to third in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League after going down 4-3 away to top of the table Dewdrop. Dewdrop now with 26 points lead the table on average from Old Hop Pole who won their tie at Albion 5-2, The Vine with 24 points are now level on points with Island Inn who lost their game away to fifth placed Jolly Collier 4-3.

Boldmere St Mike’s have opened up a two points lead at the top of division one of the Sutton and District League after they won their home game handing out a first defeat to The Beehive, the 6-3 win gives Boldmere 12 points, Beehive drop to third with 10 points and taking over in the number two spot is Old Oscott Arrows who won 5-4 away to Golden Hind Arrows.

Former division two leaders St Thomas’s Club lost their home game with The Boot 7-2 and as a result drop to third while The Boot take over at the top of the table with 10 points. Golden Hind move up one place to second after their 7-2 win at Rosey Macs putting them level on points with Boot but behind on average.

Ten Arches ‘A’ have been ousted from the top spot in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League and drop to third after a surprising 6-3 defeat away to Stourbridge RBL who are tenth in the table and some 24 points behind the former leaders. The new leaders are Ashwood whose 7-2 win at The Fox (Lye) puts them on 48 points and they lead both Britannia, who had an 8-1 win at The Swan, and Ten Arches ‘A’ on average as all three have 48 points.

With The Nutan having won the Bilston and District League some weeks ago the battle was on for the runners up spot and taking that number two place was Tilted Barrel who won their final game of the season 4-3 away to Darlaston Conservative Club, third placed Lanesfield RBL were 6-1 winners against White Hart ‘B’ to finish on the same 60 points as Tilted Barrel but were well behind on average.

In addition to the runners up placing Tilted Barrel, the reigning 501 league champions retained their title winning the league again with a total of 64 points two more than the runners up The Nutan who narrowly missed out on the league double.

The shadow league title went to 44 Club with 22 points, Rocket Pool were runners up with 20.

The Royal, Albrighton staged the fourth of their popular knockouts and taking the winners prize of £160 was Matt Padgett from Ilkeston, Derbyshire who defeated Telford’s Andy Roberts 6-0 in the final, Roberts collecting £70 as runner up.

Both of the semi finals finished with 5-2 results Padgett accounting for Matt Roberts while Roberts beat Steve Groucott.

With only one game to the halfway mark in the Cradley Tuesday Night League White Horse are a clear four points ahead of the rest of the field after taking their unbeaten run to sixteen games with a 6-3 home win over Gate Hangs Well. Second in the table Crown (Station Road) won 5-4 away to fourth placed White Swan, Crown replacing Brickmakers Arms in the number two spot after Brickmakers lost 5-4 at Rose and Crown.

Massive wins for the top two teams in division one of the Pip Club League, leaders Bulls Head ‘A’ (Polesworth) handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Pip Club and second placed Prince of Wales doing the same to their guests Two Gates Club to leave the top two both on 26 points .

In the second division Winning Post extended their winning run to twelve games with a 13-5 win over third placed Progressive Club while second placed Globe Trotters kept the gap between the two teams to five points with a 12-6 win against Globe (Wilnecote).

The Wednesbury and Darlaston Wednesday Night League played off the finals of their Margaret Melia Vase the winners being league leaders Staffordshire Knot who beat T & R Bar in the final. Losing semi finalists were Horse and Jockey and St Mary’s ‘B’.

Up to week nine and just two teams remain unbeaten in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League, Ashwood ‘A’ are top of the table, their 6-3 win over High Acres giving them 18 points, Brickmakers Arms in second place had a 7-0 win at Hollybush to leave them two points behind the leaders with a game in hand.

Third in the league Miners Welfare had a 4-3 win over Wombourne Cricket Club to put them on the same 16 points as Brickmakers but Welfare have played one game more than their rivals.

Reigning champions Gornal Conservative Club who last season lost just two of their 26 games had a 4-3 home defeat against Ashwood ‘B’ which has seen them lose three of the eight they have played so far.

Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club have got the new Netherton Thursday Night League off with a bang as for the second week running they have won 7-0. After beating White Horse in their opening fixture they then handed out the same treatment to their hosts Delph Bell ‘A’ to put them top of the table without dropping a single leg. Three other teams have also won both opening games Dudley Sports and Social, Bulls Head and Fairfield.

After Ashmore Inn lost 4-3 at home to Gilberts Bar in division one of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League leaders Riley’s ‘C’ who had a bye this week are now six points to the good on second placed Ashmore who have played eight compared to Riley’s nine games.

There was a shock for division two leaders Dog and Partridge as they lost 4-3 at home to Ukrainian Club who are in the bottom half of the table. Second placed Pavilion drew level on 16 points with the top team after their 5-2 win at Lanesfield RBL.

In their title bid in the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League Cleveland Arms suffered something of a setback as they lost 4-3 away to third placed Otter and Vixen to put both teams on 24 points, Otter having played 17 and Cleveland 15, the two teams are four points behind leaders Whitmore Reans WMC who won 5-2 at Claregate whiles second placed Riley’s ‘A’ who have 26 points were 6-1 winners against Brewood British Legion.
