Due to their fantastic commitment and enthusiasm to further the sport of darts the Winmau Centre have been reward with the one and only play off for the BDO World Trophy, a major coup for the centre based in the Wolverhampton Indoor Community Stadium which is totally committed to darts.

BDO TO USHER IN NEW ERA WITH WORLD TROPHY EVENT IN MANCHESTER AND £150K PRIZE FUND
The British Darts Organisation are delighted to announce that this year’s World Trophy event will boast a huge £150k prize fund, which will incorporate £50k for a nine dart leg and will take place over 3 days on 28th, 29th and 30th May at Manchester’s cutting edge Victoria Warehouse.
All of the BDO’s biggest names, including reigning BDO Lakeside World Champions Scott Waites and Trina Gulliver MBE, along with the likes of Glen Durrant, Martin Adams, Scott Mitchell, Deta Hedman, Lisa Ashton, with wildcards for Jeff Smith, Andy Fordham and Ted Hankey, will compete for the £150k on offer at the iconic Manchester venue over the three full day event.
Additionally major free to air TV coverage has been secured for the event with a broadcaster that has recently enjoyed huge viewing figures for live sport. This broadcaster and an exciting new partnership with a major event promoter who has secured this TV coverage will be announced at a press conference next week in London.
These exciting announcements will predate news of a broadcast development for the 2017 Lakeside World Championships which will also be revealed in the near future.

Tickets for the BDO World Trophy 2016 at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse will go on sale at noon on Friday 8th April from Eventim.co.uk and are available in the following categories each day:

There will be a play-off for the World Trophy entry on Saturday 7th May at the Wolverhampton Sports Arena, Racecourse Road, Wolverhampton, WV6 0QU. Registration 11am toe the oche 12 noon there will be four men and two ladies that will qualify for the main event in Manchester.

At the time of going to print the centre’s Thursday Night Champions League has only a few rearranged fixtures outstanding to bring the season to an end, however the title has already been decided as the leader, West Midland County player Mick Baker is on 129 points from 23 games with one to play and is three points to the good on who will be the runner up Shropshire player Kevin Harris who has completed his fixture card and has amassed 126 points.
Simon Meredith will take third place with 101 points.
As champion Baker will get a twelve months sponsorship package from Winmau together with a cash prize.

At the time of going to print the Winmau Centre Monday Night League are four games into their new season and taking over at the top of the table with a 41 -7 win in their latest game against Full Montie are The Outcasts who with a total of 148 points replace former leaders The Untouchables who slipped to their first defeat of the campaign when they lost 30-18 to What’s The Point and now trail the new leaders by just one point.
Reigning champions What Are Thooose are this season calling themselves 3 Yam Yams and A.Stokie and are the only team in the league to have won all four of their games they are currently third in the table on 139 points nine adrift of the leaders and eight behind Untouchables.
