Warwickshire played their final home fixture of the season in the premier division of the BDO Inter County Championships against Essex, although they lost by the narrow margin of 19-17 they actually moved up one place in the table. With a total of 154 points Warwickshire replaced Cambridgeshire in fourth place, they have 151 points.
Saturday’s games saw the ladies finish all square at 3-3 with Angela Jones (21.85) their top player, but the men went down 7-5, Matthew Edgar (27.64) taking their match award.
The ladies ‘A’ team have not had the best of seasons their 4-2 defeat being their sixth reversal of the season, their highlight was again the return to top form by Trina Gulliver whose superb 26.37 average earned her a sixth award of the season. The men’s ‘A’ team provided the only real bright spot of the weekend their 7-5 win aided by the award winning Dean Stewart who had a 29.40 average.
