Wolverhampton-based darts player Kevin Lane is celebrating after winning the Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League for which he not only pocketed £300 but also won a major twelve months sponsorship package with the world’s leading darts brand Winmau.
If Lane can now qualify for the PDC ‘Q’ School, he’ll be paid a cash award by Winmau with further money from television appearances plus the supply of equipment from Winmau’s class-leading range of dartboards, darts and accessories.
The Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League which is played in the Wolverhampton Indoor Community Sports Stadium will be launching their new season shortly and organizer and stadium owner Dharam Jagpal says there will be more big prizes on the cards together with the year-long Winmau contract for the lucky winner plus cash prizes down to the last player.

In week four Boldmere St Mike’s, leaders of division one of the Four Oaks and District League handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Plough and Arrows to take their unbeaten run to four games. Second in the table Beehive had a bye this week and are the only other team in the division to have won all of their games. Joining Beehive on six points but from four games is Golden Hind who had a 7-2 win away to Boldmere Sports and Social.
In the second division Bishop Vesey, who are unbeaten and second in the table were made to fight for their win levelling their match against Brookvale Social three times before edging in front on the seventh game and going on to win 5-4. Leaders Golden Hind Arrows had a more comfortable 6-3 win over Boldmere Tap to lead the division with a perfect score of eight points.
B.Linnecor (Boldmere St Mike’s) followed up last week’s maximum in the cup with another one this week in the league against Plough and Arrows.

The Shirley Red Lion Premier League completed their season’s fixtures with a full complement of players for the final games and as the fixtures drew to a close the position at the top of the table was constantly changing. Simon Edwards put himself in pole position with two wins but the title was not to be as Mick Gorst with 3-2 wins over Noreen Harris and Steve Sidwell plus a 3-1 win against Pete Silver put him level on 52 points with Edwards but with a far superior average to take the coveted league championship. Simon Edwards took the runners up spot with Paul Higgins on 50 points finishing third.
At the other end of the table there was a rare win for Stuart Dixon a 3-2 success against Chris Devlin seeing him move away from the foot of the table, Alex Hesketh taking the wooden spoon.
The highest finish of the season was a superb 170 by Julian Harris while the most 180s which was five was shared between Chris Devlin and Pete Silver. The least darts of thirteen was achieved by Mark Gwalchmai, Steve Sidwell and Tom Bent.

It was League Cup week in the Kings Norton League and all four of the quarter finals games finished with a 4-3 result the most surprising being the defeat of Court Oak by West Heath. In the league Court Oak are top of the table and unbeaten in 15 games while West Heath are fourth and have lost four of their 14 games. The match however was a real high scoring affair with Court Oak notching 21 scores of a ton or more plus 2×180 compared to West Heath’s 19 tons or over.
Other winners from the round were Dingle Social, Toby Jug ‘A’ and Kings Norton RBL who in turn took out Stirchley United, Hillyfields and Rubery RBL.
In round one of the league’s Consolation Cup Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club had an impressive 6-1 win over Kings Heath while Weoley Hill beat Toby Jug Flights 5-2, Bulls Head won 4-3 against Cotteridge.

Erdington Members Club kept their unbeaten run intact in the South Birmingham League by handing Mackadown Social their first defeat of the campaign a 6-3 win that puts them two points ahead of Mackadown who are second in the table and now level on four points with The Raven who won 5-4 against St John’s.
In division two its Banbury Flights who lead the way, their 6-3 home win over The Kingfisher giving them eight points from four games and a two points lead over second placed The Dog who were also 6-3 winners in their fixture with The C’s.

Division one of the Forest of Arden Winter League produced a top of the table clash between Journeys End and Olton Crown. Playing at home Journeys went down 6-3 and as a result were ousted from the number one spot, Olton taking over with an unbeaten six points, Journeys drop to second place with four points the same number as Sheldon Marlborough Arrows who also won 6-3 in their home game with Crown Arrows.
Highwood KB are the only undefeated team in division two their latest fixture away to local rivals Highwood Exiles seeing them win 9-0. KB have a two points lead over both Sheldon Marlborough Flights and Chelmsley Town, Sheldon going into second place on average after beating Chelmsley 8-1.

With two more games to play a 7-2 win against Black Horse has guaranteed Dudley Sports ‘C’ the title in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League. The win gives Dudley Sports ‘C’ a total of 68 points, four more than second in the table Bridge ‘B’ who had a close 5-4 win at Roebuck but no matter what if Bridge were able to catch Sports on points they would not be able to match them on average and will finish as runners up.
There was no change in the top six places as all six won, Dog and Lamppost ‘A’ in seventh place lost 8-1 away to Queens Head (Wordsley) who are in the bottom half of the table.

The Bell moved two places off the bottom of the Brierley Hill Friday Night League when they registered their first win of their three games season a 5-4 victory over Bulls Head (Netherton) who go joint bottom of the table with Dudley Sports ‘A’ who lost 7-2 at home to Brickmakers Arms, Brickmakers having a perfect six points top the table on average from Miners (Wollescote).

The latest results from the Shirley and District Monday Night League had no affect on table whatsoever, the top four teams all won Highwood and Crown Jewels both on 32 points, Highwood just ahead of Jewels on average despite Jewels winning 7-2 at Blue Bell and Highwood having a 6-3 win at Cider House. After the leading duo there is a gap of eight points to Shirley Red Lion who beat Strawberry Fields 6-3.

The Cradley Tuesday Night League held their singles finals at The Crown and it was the hosts that provided the champion in the shape of Jason Lowe who had a straight 3-0 win over Steve Siviter (Hawne Lane Tavern) in the final.
In the semi finals Lowe beat J.Sharratt (Crown ‘B’) 2-1 and Siviter won by the same margin against D.Cartwright (White Horse).

Kingstanding Ex Serviceman’s Club took their winning run in the Aston League to five games and held on to their four points lead at the top with a 5-4 win over joint second in the table Sportsmans Rest. Mitre moved up into joint second with Sportsmans after a 6-3 home win over Erdington Club who are on the same six points as Mitre and Sportsmans Rest but with an inferior average.

It was top half against bottom half this week in the Harborne League and it was the top five teams that won. Court Oak stay two points ahead of the field with a 5-4 win away to Smethwick Labour Club while second placed Hillyfields ‘A’ with a 180 from J.Best beat Weoley Castle WMC 7-2 whose S.Pasetti also found the three treble twenties. Avenue Flights and Crazy Horses are both on the same eight points as Hillyfields ‘A’.

After completing the opening six fixtures of the new season in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League only three teams are able to boast a 100% record. Bird ‘A’ (Stourbridge) lead the way on average over both Ashwood and Britannia their latest win being 5-4 as they inflicted a first defeat on Brickmakers Arms. Ashwood were 8-1 winners at Bird ‘B’ (Stourbridge) and Britannia won their home tie with High Acres 6-3.

Old Hop Pole have won the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League title with two games still to play, their latest 4-3 win away to Island Inn giving them a total of 56 points, four more than Dewdrop who only have one fixture remaining. Dewdrop’s 6-1 win against Merry-Go-Round giving them the runners up spot.

Just two games in the Halesowen Monday Night Ladies League which saw league leaders White Horse (Quarry Bank) win 4-3 against The Widders and Haden Cross beat Hare and Hounds 6-1, but in the Captains Cup the outcome was reversed as The Widders won against White Horse and Hare and Hounds beat Haden Cross.

White Swan have knocked Rose and Crown off their perch and replaced them with a three point’s advantage at the top of the Netherton Thursday Night League after beating them on their own board 5-4.
There was also a shock for third in the table Bulls Head as they lost 6-3 away to fifth placed Fairfield.

It’s as you were at the top of division one in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League with the top four teams all winning, leaders Wednesfield FC had a somewhat surprisingly close 4-3 win away to Corpus who are in the bottom half of the table but it was enough to maintain their two points lead over second placed ECC who handed out a 7-0 whitewash to their visitors bottom of the table Jack’s Bar.
In division two one-time leaders Pheasant who have recently dropped to third place behind Whitmore Reans WMC and Roebuck suffered an amazing 7-0 defeat away to mid table Woodfield Social but hang on to third place with 40 points.
Whitmore Reans stay four points ahead of Roebuck with a 6-1 home win against The Bull, Roebuck were 4-3 winners at Old Stags Head.

Fox and Dogs have taken over from Prince of Wales ‘A’ at the top of the Tamworth League after beating them 4-3 which gives them a three point’s lead. Fox and Dogs are now the only team in the league who have won all of their games.
The nearest rivals to Prince of Wales ‘A’ are their own ‘B’ team who are in third place on 28 points, nine adrift of the ‘A’ but with a game in hand.

For the first time in 20 games Gornal Conservative have lost in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League, playing at home Gornal took on their nearest rivals Ashwood ‘A’ and went down 4-3, despite the defeat Gornal remain in pole position with 38 points but now Ashwood ‘A’ are just two points behind them. Gornal were the only losers in the top five teams.
