After completing the various rounds throughout the country for the Riley’s Darts Club Championships the national finals to find the Club GB champion were staged at Riley’s Snooker Bar Wolverhampton.
Throughout the finals there were some terrific darts none better than the final between Lancashire county player and qualifier from Chester David Adshead and his opponent from Catford and current PDC challenge tour card holder Paul Amos who qualified from London Victoria. The result was a 7-3 victory for Adshead who received £1,000 as champion runner up Amos collected £500.
In the semi finals Adshead had beaten Shropshire player and Wolverhampton qualifier Andy Roberts 6-2 while Amos won 6-3 against Adam Huckvale a qualifier from Worcester and also a PDC challenge tour card holder, both losing semi finalists received £100.

With the league’s domestic fixtures all completed and the six divisional champions decided the Sheldon and District Summer league played off the finals of their Mrs F.Richman Trophy. The first of the semi finals saw division one runners up Castle Vale Stadium beat The Pirates who finished next to bottom of division two 5-2 and with a 6-1 result division one champions The Digby won against the division two wooden spoon winners George V.
The final brought together the league’s top two teams The Digby and Castle Vale Stadium, the outcome was a 5-2 win for The Digby to give them a fantastic league and cup double.

With only one week’s fixtures remaining in the Kingstanding Double Top League the title is still in the balance with any one of the top three players Pat Koyce, William Naylor and Mike McFall in with a chance of winning. Ironically the top three all play each other in the final week’s games and it is those results that will decide who is champion.
Currently Koyce leads the way with 59 points from 33 games Naylor is second and has a total of 57 points from the same number of games. Mike McFall on 54 points may be five adrift of Koyce but he has a game in hand on both player above him, so the final night should be quite interesting and also very tense.

Court Oak have reached double figures in their unbeaten run in the Kings Norton League, their tenth win of the campaign being a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Cotteridge to give them a four points lead over second in the table Kings Norton RBL who had a close 4-3 verdict away to West Heath but have a game in hand on the leaders. Third in the table Hillyfields had an impressive 6-1 success over Stirchley United to put them level on the same 14 points as Stirchley, Rubery RBL are also on 14 points but have played one game more than both Hilllyfields and Stirchley.
It was a good week for Weoley Hill as they chalked up their first win in four games a 5-2 home win over Toby Jug Flights who are bottom of the table without a win in ten games.

Mackadown Social completed their league programme in group one of the South Birmingham League in style beating Banbury Flights 7-1 to clinch the divisional title with 27 points, four more than their nearest rivals Punchbowl who also bowed out with a good 6-2 home win over The Bell.
In group two it was Erdington Members Club who won the division, they also finished with an emphatic 7-1 victory away to bottom of the table Kingfisher. St John’s Flights finished as runners up ending the season with a 5-3 win at Coleshill Social.

The final game of the season in the Forest of Arden Summer League saw division one leaders Journeys End lose 5-2 away to Iron Horse who finished third. Despite the defeat Journeys won the division but only on average as Riley’s Red Arrows following a 4-3 win at Highwood KB ended the campaign with the same 18 points but with an inferior average.
The division two title went to Crown Arrows they completed their fixture card with a 4-3 home win over Chelmsley Town giving them 22 points, four more than Sheldon Marlborough Flights and Chelmsley Town, the former taking the runners up spot by just one leg of average as both teams lost their final game 4-3, Sheldon going down at home to Greville Arms.

The Shirley and District League took a break from league fixtures this week to stage their singles tournament at the Red Lion Shirley, the entrant figures encouraging, for the league as they were up on last season’s numbers.
Bob Nixon was in top form throughout the knockout as on his way to winning the event he recorded the only two maximums of the competition and in the final he defeated Mark Henderson another player who had produced quality darts on the night.
The league officials wish to thank the hosts of the Red Lion for not only staging the event but also laying on a chicken and chips supper.

Wagon and Horses recorded their first win in four in the Camp Hill League when they beat Devil’s Club 6-1 to push their opponents to the bottom of the table. HMS Lions were held to a close 4-3 win at home by Lady Westminster but nevertheless the win made it four out of four wins for the hosts and leaves them two points ahead of Cotterills Lane Club who had a 6-1 win away to third placed Holy Gulp.

Crown ‘A’ lost a vital home games against Brickmakers Arms 5-4 in the Cradley Tuesday Night League as the defeat cost them their pole position and sees their opponents take over the number one spot with 50 points two more than Crown ‘A’, but Crown ‘A’ have only played 29 games compared to Brickmakers 30. Crown ‘B’ join their ‘A’ side on the same 48 points after a 7-2 win at Members Club ‘A’ who drop from fifth to seventh in the table.

After playing 30 fixtures in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League only two points separate the top two teams, Dudley Sports ‘C’ are top with 54 points after their 8-1 success against Griffin, in second place is Bridge ‘B’ who had a narrow 5-4 win at Blue Brick. High Acres lost their third place dropping to fourth as they lost 6-3 at Queens Head (Wordsley) who are seven places and sixteen points behind them. Although they lost 5-4 at home to Bulls Head (Netherton) Rose and Crown (Brierley Hill) take over the number three position, they have the same 44 points as High Acres but are just one leg of average to the good.
At the other end of the table there was a rare win for bottom placed Brickmakers Arms who won their home tie with Dudley Sports ‘B’ 6-3 but the win still leaves them six points adrift of Dog and Lamppost ‘B’ who are just above them.

The Netherton Thursday Night League were involved in the quarter finals of their Andy Bastable Trophy, current league leaders Rose and Crown had a 6-3 win against third in the table Bulls Head while bottom placed Pensnett Liberal Club without a win in the six league games they have played so far beat next to bottom of the table Crown by the same 6-3 margin.
Other teams to win through to the last four were Fairfield who beat The Bell 6-3 and Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club who had a 7-2 success against White Horse.

Haden Cross lost their third place in the Halesowen Monday Night Ladies League table when they went down 5-2 at The Widders who are next to bottom of the table, taking over in third place is Black Horse with a similar 5-2 win at Hare and Hounds, but despite the win Black Horse are ten points adrift of second placed Spring Meadow who had a bye this week, they in turn are two points behind White Horse (Quarry Bank) who won 6-1 at Townsend to take them from second place to top.

Mick Bown has gone from third to top of the Shirley Red Lion Premier League, he lost 3-2 to Simon Edwards and then added two 3-1 wins against Julian Harris and Chris Devlin to give him a total of 23 points from eight games. Former leader Andy Hoy didn’t play this week and as a result drops six places to seventh.
Mick Gorst with 3-0 wins against Jack Sidwell and Noreen Harris holds on to second place just two points behind Bown with a game in hand and moving up one place to third is Paul Higgins who followed up his 3-0 win over Steve Heeks with a 3-1 success against Ken Hopton in which he recorded a 14 darts leg, however that wasn’t the best game of the evening as Mark Gwalchmai chalked up a 13 darts leg in his 3-1 win over Steve Sidwell in which he scored 180, 121, 92, 72 and checked out on double sixteen.

This coming Sunday at 12 noon the Winmau Sports Bar in the Wolverhampton Sports Arena, Racecourse Road, WV6 0QU will be staging the Royal Mail Doubles Competition. For just a £5 entry fee there will be a first prize of £100 for the winning team and £25 for the runners up.
The format of the competition will be one doubles game best of three legs and two singles again the best of three legs.

Three games into the second half of the season in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League and newcomers to the league Gornal Conservative Club remain undefeated their latest win being 6-1 at Netherton Cricket Club to keep them four points in front of second placed Ashwood ‘A’ who won by the same 6-1 at Queens who are bottom of the table.
Ten Arches ‘B’ lost their third place to Ashwood ‘B’ who beat them 4-3 both teams now on the same 24 points but Ten Arches ‘B’ are trailing on average.

With leaders East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association having their fixture against Wagon and Horses cancelled in the Small Heath League their nearest rivals Mitre took the opportunity to draw level on 16 points by beating Cob’s Bar 7-2 leaving EBAHA with a game in hand.
Biggest winners of the evening were Gulp Tribe who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Emerald Flights who are bottom of the table.

Whitmore Reans WMC suffered a setback to their division two title aspirations in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League when they lost 4-3 at home against second in the table Pheasant. Both teams are now on 36 points Whitmore leading the field by just one leg of average.
The top two teams also played each other in division one but there was no upset for top side Wednesfield FC as they beat ECC 4-3 to go two points ahead of their rivals.

With only a handful of games remaining in the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League Riley’s ‘A’ appear to have the title all sewn up as their latest 6-1 win at The Bull has kept intact their six points lead over second placed Otter and Vixen who won 5-2 at Riley’s ‘B’ who are third in the table and look as though they are out of the race for the runners up spot as they are a further six points behind their victors.

There were close but nevertheless wins for the top two teams in the Black Country Premier League this week leaders Blackheath Beechers winning 9-6 against third place Springfield Rifles while second in the table Britannia Bulldogs had an even closer 9-7 win over Brickmaker Big Dogs who are fourth. The table now sees Beechers top with 16 points, Britannia second on 14 and Springfield, Brickmaker and Woodside Poachers all have 12 points.

The Royal at Albrighton staged the first of what will become a series of knockouts and the winner of the inaugural competition was Andy Roberts who collected the top prize after defeating Steve Ritchie in the final, Ritchie receiving £50.
Losing semi finalists were Simon Pritchard and Mark Pardon who each picked up £25.
It is planned for a similar knockout to be staged every three months.
