After a heavy defeat away to Lancashire in their recent premier division fixture in the BDO Inter County Championships, Warwickshire bounced back in the best possible way with a 21-15 home win over Cambridgeshire.

Both ladies teams finished all square with a 3-3 result, Trina Gulliver (23.48) and Donna Pinch (19.31) taking the respective ‘A’ and ‘B’ team’s match awards.

The men’s ‘B’, like the ladies shared the points with a 6-6 draw, their top man being Ted Evetts with a 26.26 average. The ‘A’ side were in top form romping to an unassailable 8-0 lead and going on to win 9-3, Jamie Hughes the man of the match with a 29.47 average.

The win has seen Warwickshire overtake their opponents in the league table and move up into fifth place with 116 points, just five behind third placed Cheshire.

In division two of the BDO Inter County Championships West Midlands played hosts to Suffolk, their 18-18 draw did nothing to lift them away from the foot of the table leaving them four points ahead of bottom team Wiltshire and two behind Merseyside who are just above them.

The weekend provided mixed results for both the men and ladies as the ladies ‘B’ won 4-2 and the ‘A’ lost 4-2, the respective award winners being Sarah Roberts (22.43) and Gemma Barrett (17.43).

The men’s games saw the ‘B’ lose 7-5 with Danny Coyle (27.21) winning the match award and the ‘A’ winning by the same margin with Ian Jones their top man with a tremendous 31.31 average.

Crown at Olton held on to their four point’s lead at the top of the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League with a 7-2 win at The Raven, while second placed Crown at Shard End won their home game with Sheldon Dukes 6-3.

A close 5-4 win for Banbury Club at Sheldon Heath Social keeps them in pole position in division one but Castle Vale Stadium are only two points behind them with two games in hand.

Crown-Forget-Me-Not lead the way in division two with a slender two points lead over Maggies.

In division one of the Four Oaks and District League Brookvale Social dealt a hammer blow to Sutton Sports hopes of retaining their title when they beat them 5-4 to leave them four points adrift of leaders The Beehive who had a 7-2 home win over Old Oscott Arrows and with only three game remaining it appears there will be a new name on the silverware.

In division two the top two teams squared up to each other and the outcome was a 6-3 win for second in the table Boldmere Sports to put them level on the same 20 points as Golden Hind and trail by just a couple of legs of average.

Anvil Nomads have taken over the top spot in division three after handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Boldmere Oak. Former leaders The Fox had a bye and are now two points behind with a game in hand.

The Crown consolidated their number one position in the West Midlands Men’s Super League with a convincing 7-0 win against bottom of the table White Swan. With 64 points Crown are six ahead of their nearest rivals Landywood Snooker Club who won their home tie with Allens Sports Bar 6-1.

After two fixtures in the Halesowen Monday Night Ladies League nothing can separate the top two teams Black Horse and Spring Meadow who are level on points and average. In the latest games Black Horse won 5-2 at Townsend while Spring Meadow went one better with a 6-1 home win against Haden Cross. It was a good week for The Widders as they chalked up their first win of the season a 5-2 success against Hare and Hounds.

The Gate opened up a two points lead at the top of the Cradley Tuesday Night League when they beat Wheatsheaf 6-3, this being Wheatsheaf’s first defeat in four and seeing them drop to fourth in the table. Brickmakers Arms are in second place after their 6-3 win at Members Club ‘B’, and on the same six points as Brickmakers are Netherton Sports and Social ‘B’, Wheatsheaf and White Horse.

Four games into the new season and only two of the twelve teams in the Hilltop Friendly League have a 100% win record. Old Hop Pole and Dewdrop are the two leading teams the latest fixtures seeing Old Hop Pole hand out a 7-0 whitewash to bottom of the table Horseley Tavern and Dewdrop win 5-2 away to The Vine.

Hayes Social registered their first win of the campaign a 5-2 home success against Ivy Bush.

Birchmoor Club lost for the first time in ten games in division one of the Pip Club League when they went down 5-3 away to third in the table Tamworth Motor Spares. Despite the defeat Birchmoor remain in pole position with 15 points, two more than second placed Bulls Head ‘A’ (Polesworth) who in their game at Prince of Wales finished all square at 4-4.

J W Belgrave held on to their four points lead in division two with a 10-6 win at Bulls Head ‘B’ (Polesworth), second placed Sports Bar ‘180’ had a closer 9-7 home win over Gate (Amington).

The top four teams in the Black Country Premier League all won this week leaders Hasbury Monks having a 10-4 win at Team Bathams to give them a perfect 24 points from their twelve games. Second placed Blackheath Beechers and Black Country Belters are both just one point behind the leaders and in turn won 12-1 against Park Lane Taverners and 12-2 at Gate R&R.

A 6-3 win at St John’s keeps Crown-Forget-Me-Not two points ahead of the field in division one of the South Birmingham League, while second in the table Crown at Shard End beat third placed Mackadown Social 5-4 to put them two points ahead of their opponents.

In division two Coleshill Social extended their lead to six points by beating their nearest rivals The Trident 5-4 although Trident have a game in hand.

The Warwickshire Men’s Super League is looking very much like a two horse race as leaders Brandon have 82 points from 14 games and second in the table Coventry Bishopsgate have 81 from 15 games. Then comes a gap of 17 points to third placed Birmingham Court Oak, who like the leaders have played 14 games.

Highest average so far is a tremendous 34.95 supplied by Jamie Hughes, the highest finish by Mark Westgarth and Prakash Jiwa is 161 and least darts of eleven recorded by Ian McFarlane, Noel Grant and Jamie Hughes.

Only average separates the top two teams in division one of the Forest of Arden Winter League, a 7-2 win against Harvester keeps Highwood ‘A’ just ahead of Olton Crown who beat Riley’s Red Arrows 6-3 putting both teams on 20 points. Third placed Journeys End won 6-3 at Greville Arrows but are six points adrift of the leading duo.

In division two Iron Horse took their unbeaten run to eleven games in style as they handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Sheldon Flights to give them a four points lead over second in the table Highwood ‘C’, who have a game in hand.

Twelve points is the difference between the top four teams in the Netherton Thursday Night League top side Springfield Social Club won their home game with White Horse 7-2 to give them 45 points and second in the table Netherton Sports and Social had an 8-1 win at White Swan to put them on 33 points the same number as third and fourth placed Bulls Head and Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club, who in turn won 6-3 at The Bell and 6-3 at home to The Widders.

There are 21 teams in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League and after only five games Rose and Crown (Brierley Hill) are the only team to be undefeated their latest success being a surprisingly close 5-4 win at Tenth Lock who are near the foot of the table. Three teams are just two points behind the leaders, Dudley Sports ‘C’, High Acres and Dudley Sports ‘A’.

Week four in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League saw The Bell lose for the first time going down 6-3 at home to league leaders Brickmakers Arms who are just ahead of Pensnett Welfare Club on average after Pensnett also won 6-3 at Bulls Head (Netherton).

No change at the top of the Camp Hill League leaders Scruffy Ringers winning 4-3 at Journeys End to stay two points to the good on Holy Gulp who also won 4-3 at home to Lions. Third placed Cotterills Lane Club had their game cancelled and are two points behind Ringers with a game in hand.

Just three games in the Small Heath League this week which saw top team Gulp win 5-3 at home to Emerald Flights. Second placed Mitre won 8-1 away to Sheldon Marlborough Flight to keep them level on 18 points with Gulp but having played one game more. Third in the table Emerald Club were also 8-1 winners beating Clock Inn, they have a game in hand on the two teams above them but are six points adrift.

The teams to make the quarter finals of the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League are Kingswinford Conservative Club, Ashwood, Britannia, Bird ‘A’ (Stourbridge), Brickmakers Arms, Quarry Bank Conservative Club, Stourbridge RBL and Church Tavern.

It’s as you were at the top of the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League with all six of the top teams winning this week. Ten Arches ‘A remain in pole after a massive 7-0 home win over Gigmill to keep them four points ahead of the field.

Will any team be able to stop Fox and Dogs in the Tamworth League who have won all eleven of their fixtures so far the latest being a 6-1 win at Longwood to give them 93 points and a nine points lead over Dolphin ‘A’ who went one better with a 7-0 home win against Sports Bar. Third and fourth placed Belgrave Club and Old Liberal House are both on 80 points, both of them winning this week.
