A West Midlands Results Round Up
Saltley Amateur Gardeners went into their final fixture of the season in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League with an unbeaten record, having won seven and drawn two of the nine games. Their final game was an away fixture against next to bottom Iron Horse Flights and it was the hosts who provided the shock of the week by beating their opponents 5-3. Despite the defeat Saltley won the title, but only by three points of average as Riley’s Rags took the runners up spot with a 5-3 home win over Highwood Flights to finish on the same 16 points as the champions.
Langley Hall Sports and Social were group two winners, taking the title by one point over The Pirates, Marston Green Tavern losing out on second place as they lost their last game at George V ‘A’ 6-2.
Just one point separated the top two teams in group three, Banbury Club the winners with 12 points and Raven second with 11.
Riley’s Misfits won the battle of the Misfits in their final game as they won 5-3 at Shirley RBL Misfits to record a 100% win record for the season, the only team in the league to win all of the games. Runners up Baldwin Bears were four points behind Riley’s. Holy Souls won group five with a three points lead over their nearest rivals Willclare Sports and Social, while Highwood KB’s had a more comfortable five points gap between them and second placed George V ‘B’ in group six.
Emerald Flights were the group seven winners with 13 points, Meadway Sports and Social second on 10 points.

The Warwickshire Ladies Super League began their season at the end of August and after playing two matches Cubbington are top of the league followed by Bishopsgate, Nuneaton, Leamington Ladies and Holly Bush Ladies. There were maximums from Natalie Gilbert (Nuneaton) and Wendy Adams (Cubbington) in the first week and a 108 game shot from Denise Jakeman (Leamington Ladies).

The Pip Club League staged the finals of their Shadow League Knockouts and taking the title for division one was Bulls Head (Two Gates) with a victory over Belgrave Club in the final.
The division two title went to White Lion with Longwood runners up.

After the opening two games of the new season, Springfield Social Club have taken over pole position in the Netherton Thursday Night League following their 7-2 win over Chainmakers, amazingly only two other teams are unbeaten after the first two games and they are Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club and Riddins Tavern.

With Cotterills Lane Club, leaders of the Camp Hill League having a bye this week, second in the table Scruffy Ringers took full advantage to reduce the arrears to just two points when they won their home tie with The Lions 5-2. Third placed Gulp Tribe are a further two points adrift, they won 6-1 against bottom of the table Devil’s Club. Bordesley Labour Club had a 4-3 win against Wagonners to remain in fourth place.

In the Cradley Tuesday Night League leaders Crown ‘A’ had a bye this week. However, they hold on to pole position still with a four points lead and a game in hand after second in the table Chainmakers ‘B’ won 5-4 away to Hasbury Inn.
Third placed Brickmakers had a convincing 8-1 home win over Hawne Lane Tavern, while fourth placed Members Club lost ground going down 7-2 away to The Gate (Darby End), who are one place below them.
At the other end of the table next to bottom Bulls Head chalked up only their third win in 29 games when they beat bottom team Roost ‘B’ 6-3.

The Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League played off the second leg of their League Cup and winning through to the next round were, Rose and Crown, Ten Arches ‘A’, who turned around a 4-3 deficit in the first round against local rivals Ten Arches ‘B’, Ashwood ‘A’, The Swan, Dudley Sports and Netherton Cricket Club.

The top three teams in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League all won this week, but their positions in the table have changed. Britannia have taken over pole position after handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Gigmill. Former leaders Ashwood have dropped to second place, their close 5-4 win against Bird ‘A’ (Stourbridge) leaving them trailing slightly on average behind Britannia. Ten Arches, who were second, are now third, they also won 5-4 in their home game with Bird (Wordsley), all three teams are on a maximum twelve points.

A 7-2 home win over Hunting Tree has taken The Crown to 26 wins in as many games in the Rowley Monday Night league and keeps them four points ahead of their nearest rivals Springfield Social Club, who won their home tie with Ivy Bush ‘A’ 5-4.
There were also wins for the next four teams in the table, Ivy Bush ‘Z’ beating Fairfield 7-2, Ex Serviceman’s Club won 8-1 at Britannia Inn and Allens Sports Bar had a 6-3 win away to Little Beech.

The top four teams all won in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League, leaders Blue Brick ‘C’ having a 6-3 win over Summer House to remain a massive twelve points ahead of second placed Bulls Head (Netherton), who won 7-2 away to fifth in the table Ivy House.
Third placed Dudley Sports ‘B’ were 6-3 winners at Black Horse and fifth placed Rose and Crown (Brierley Hill) won 5-4 at The Swan.

Only two points separate the leading two teams in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League, Netherton Cricket Club are top of the pile, their latest success being a 5-4 win at Miners (Wollescote), while second placed Dudley Sports ‘B’ had a bye and are now level on games with the Cricket Club.

The Gate R&R took on the Black Country Premier League leaders Lyde Green Flights this week, but came short of victory as they went down 9-5 to keep Lyde Green one point ahead of Black Country Belters in the table, who had a massive 12-0 win against Team Bathams, Alf Turley and Matt Hall both recording maximums for the Belters.
The Britannia Bulldogs kept their momentum going beating Park Lane Taverners 11-3. A 180 from Jason Lowe and a 120 break plus 100 finish by Kevin Bambrick helped Blackheath Beechers to a 12-1 win over Round Oak Rebels.
Wynall Lane Warriors came up against an in form Hasbury Monks side, who ran out 10-3 winners. There were 180’s for Daniel Haden (Wynall Lane Warriors) and N.Donaldson (Hasbury Monks).

After seven consecutive wins Chelmsley Wood RBL lost their 100% win record in Group ‘A’ of the South Birmingham League, winding up their programme with a 4-4 draw at The Raven. However, the point was enough to give Chelmsley the divisional title as Raven, who are in second place with one more game to play are five points adrift.
In Group ‘B’ Riley’s Kings finished on a high with a 7-1 win at Coleshill Social to give them 15 points and the title. The Crown were runners up with 13 points.
St John’s Flights won Group ‘C’, they had a final 5-3 win away to third placed Toby Jug, while second placed The Gate, who also won 5-3, beat The Kingfisher to leave them just one point off the top.

Congratulations to Warwickshire’s Jamie Hughes, who along with partner Sam Hewson of Lincolnshire took the British Open Pairs title being held at the Spa Centre Bridlington. Jamie and Sam have made their mark on
many of the pairs events being held on the circuit and form a very effective partnership. The pair’s event with more than 150 entries is a tough event to take but they did it in style defeating Garry Thompson and Scott Waites of Yorkshire in the quarter finals and then Jamie Wilson (Yorkshire) and Gary Robson (Cheshire). Then in the final they overcame Scotland’s Steve Robertson and Lancashire’s Ryan Hogarth with a 4-3 scoreline.

After the majority of teams have played three games in the Warwickshire Men’s Super League, Coventry Bishopsgate lead the way with 22 points, they are the only team out of the twelve in the league still able to boast a 100% win record. Just two points behind the leaders comes Brandon, who are a further three ahead of third placed Birmingham Court Oak.

This week the top four places in the Red Lion Friday Night Individual League were confirmed, and they are John Burdett, Luis Barberan, Barry Stephens and Paul Cummings.
The latest games produced a couple of shock results with Cummings beating Barberan 5-2, which together with a 5-3 win over Gary Taylor secured him fourth place and the other surprise was the 5-1 win by Brendan Lysaght over table topping John Burdett.
On the individual scene leading the 180 count is Brendan Lysaght and Luis Barberan, who have both hit eight, the highest finish of 170 goes to Paul Cummings and the least darts of eleven goes to Luis Barberan.

With Otter and Vixen having a bye this week in division one of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League, Riley’s ‘C’, with a 7-0 win at Bird in Hand went level on 34 points with Otter and Vixen, but overtook them in the table with a superior average.
Wolverhampton Sports Arena were the only losers in the top five in division two, they went down 6-1 away to divisional leaders Wednesfield Conservative Club. Chillington Club stay on the same 40 points as the leaders with a 6-1 home win over King Charles.

Whitmore Reans WMC made it 19 wins in as many games in the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League when they won 6-1 at Brewood British Legion to stay ten points ahead of Otter and Vixen ‘B’, who moved two places up the table to second following their 7-0 win at Jones Road.
