Congratulations to Warwickshire’s nine times Lakeside World Champion Trina Gulliver MBE, who at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green showed the dart world she is back to her top form by winning her third BDO Gold Cup title, a title she had previously won in 2000 and 2003.

With wins over Michelle Andrews, Tracy Bishop, Tina Neylon and Stacey Ellis, Trina then took on Norfolk’s Roz Bulmer in the semis and promptly despatched her with a straight 3-0 result. Her final opponent was 2001 Gold Cup champion Nikki Furse from Cornwall, who she defeated with a final double eighteen to seal her first win of 2014.

John Burdett made it seven straight wins in the Riley’s Friday Individual League when he beat Luis Barberan 5-3, giving him a total of 14 points, three to the good on second placed Paul Cummings who has played one more game than Burdett. Cummings chalked up the highest finish of the season a maximum 170 game shot

On ten points and only one behind Cummings are Carl Betteridge and Steve Cain, Cain having played eight games to the seven of Betteridge.

It was a great weekend for fifteen years old Luis Barberan from Castle Vale and Billy Holmes from Milton Keynes, when they teamed up to play in the EDO England Open Pairs competition at Selsey and progressed to the semi finals from a starting line up of 264 pairs.

In their last four game they were narrowly defeated 3-2 by Nick Kenny and Dean Reynolds, but nevertheless it was a tremendous achievement.

Week two of the South Birmingham League saw Royal British Legion get their season underway in group ‘A’ with a convincing 7-1 win against The Dog to put them in second place just one point behind and a game in hand on leaders Raven, who with a similar 7-1 win over previous leaders Banbury Flights now have three points. Banbury have the same two points as RBL, but with an inferior average.

In group ‘B’ Coleshill Social also lost their pole position with a 7-1 defeat, their victors being The Crown, who take over the number one spot with a maximum four points from their opening two games. Riley’s Kings, were another team to win 7-1 in their game at The Trident and now have the same two points as Coleshill, but are second on average.

Only average separates the top two teams in group ‘C’, St John’s are top with yet another 7-1 win, their opponents being The Kingfisher and joining them on the same four points is Toby Jug, who won 6-2 at Smithswood Social.

The Forest of Arden Summer League had the preliminary round of their divisional cups on the fixture card. In division one league leaders Olton Crown travelled to take on their nearest rivals in the league table Highwood ‘A’ and returned with a 5-2 win.

In division two, with a 160 break, S.Shepherd helped his team, Crown Arrows to a 5-2 win at Chelmsley Town, while Peachy Keens, with the same scoreline accounted for Highwood ‘C’.

Division three leaders Centurion had a comfortable 6-1 home win over Greville Arms, while Highwood Exiles went one better by handing out a 7-0 whitewash to bottom of the table Ivy Leaf Bulls.

The Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League have got their new season underway and they kicked off with no fewer than six of the seven fixtures finishing with a 5-2 result. Ashwood ‘A’, Dudley Sports, The Fox (Lye), Ten Arches ‘A, The Bell and Wombourne Cricket Club all share pole position after beating respective opponents Ashwood ‘B’, Gigmill, The Leopard, Ten Arches ‘B’, Netherton Cricket Club and Rose and Crown. The other fixture saw The Bridge win 4-3 at The Swan.

M.Rollinson (Ten Arches ‘A’(progressed to the semi finals) got the season off in superb style as he chalked up a tremendous six darts leg, breaking with 150 and checking out on 151. He then followed up with a maximum in the doubles. Dudley Sports player T.Bingham also notched a 180.

The Rowley Monday Night League had the preliminary round of their Bill Bishop Cup on their programme, in which there were wins for Crown, Bull, Ivy Bush ‘Z’ and Timber Tree, who in turn ousted Allens Sports Bar, Britannia, Fairfield and Victoria.

The Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League played their Four-a-Side Riley’s Cup down to the last 32 and             winning their way in to the next round were, Simon Pritchard, Stuart Kendrick, Phil Mayo, Alan Bradburn (Riley’s ‘C’), Karl Noakes, Jake Hough, Ryan Taylor, Dean Taylor (Riley’s ‘C’), Lee Cullum, Wayne Horton, Adam Cullum, Simon Ward (Village), Ken Wardle, Chris Banks, Andy McLean, Jatty Gill (Village), Craig Hampton, Glyn Jones, Paul Thomas, Mac Parkes (Merry Boys), Sophie Fawcett, Ade Hughes, Dave Hughes, Ken Speed (Riley’s ‘A’), Alan Lowbridge, Mark Lowbridge, Dave Shinton, Shane Yeomans (Victoria), Bill Jones, Terry Jones, Mark Jones, Nick Richards (Oxbarn).

No change at the top of the Pip Club League with the top six teams all recording wins this week. Bulls Head ‘A’ remain six points ahead of the field after a massive 15- 1 win at Longwood. The real battle is on for second place with no fewer than three teas all on 41 points. Dolphin hold the best average, their latest 13-3 win at home to Royal Oak (Polesworth) keeping them in second place. However, close on their heels comes Wilnecote Club, who went one better with a 14-2 home win against Two Gates Club.

Making up the three is Birchmoor Club, again they had a big win as they fought off their visitors Travellers and gained a 12-4 win.

At the other end of the table Anchor Inn moved off the foot with an 8-8 draw at home to Old Liberal, who are placed just below the halfway point in the table. Apart from the bottom two teams, Anchor Inn and Bulls Head ‘B’ swapping places the rest of the table is as you were.
