The South Birmingham League completed their season with the final division two games. St John’s had already completed their programme and won the title with a total of 30 points from a possible 32. Runners up Iron Horse ended on a high with a 5-4 victory at home to Toby Jug, who finished in third place just two points behind Iron Horse.

The Kingfisher took the wooden spoon having won just one of their 16 games, their final result a 5-4 home defeat at the hands of the Dog team.

The Small Heath League played off their Cricket Competition and taking the title were Mrs Brown’s Boy’s consisting of Nicola Brown, John O’Conner, Mick O’Sullivan, Paul Brown and Peter Yardley. Runners up were Marie Jenkins, Peter Hopkins, Richard Cooper, Jim Sayers and Matthew Coop known as the Four Men and a Little Lady.

Third place went to Misfits, fourth Walley’s Walley’s, fifth Blues Boys and sixth Team One.

The Cradley Tuesday Night League had thei doubles knockout on the fixture card and winning through on the night were, J.Dingley & G.Male (Netherton Sports and Social ‘B’, D.Redding & I.Townsend (Gate, Darby End), N.Bradley & M.Roberts (Gate, Colley Gate), C.Davies & S.Hall (Brickmakers), M.Tedstone & A.Ghaley, M.Bastable & J.Lowe (Crown ‘A’), C.Wrench & S.Cox (Chainmakers ‘B’).

The Sheldon and District Winter League staged their end of season competitions and in the Jubilee Trophy it was George V’s Clarke Horsley who lifted the silverware with a final success over Shard End Social’s Mark Kirwan.

Losing semi finalists were George Green (Kingshurst and District Labour Club), who lost to Horsley and Ian McLean (Banbury Club).

The Vice Presidents Round Robin Competition was won by Robbie Earl form the Rave. Earl lost his first game against Stephen Shepherd (Crown Arrows) 2-1, but romped to a 3-0 win in his next against Tony Randell (Saltley Amateur Gardeners).

Randell had beaten Shepherd 2-1 in the previous round. All three players finished with two points, Earl having the most legs for and fewest against.

The preliminary round of their Knockout Cup was on the agenda for the Forest of Arden Summer League. Just two games were played, Highwood Exiles, who are two places off the foot of division three held their division one opponents Harvester to a close 4-3 result and in the all division three encounter between bottom team Ivy Leaf Bulls and next to bottom Riley’s Wings, it was the former who got the 4-3 verdict.

The Tettenhall and District Wednesday Night League were involved in cup games and in the Knockout Cup there were wins for Riley’s and Moreton, who in turn accounted for Pendulum and Claregate. Otter and Vixen ‘B’ and Whitmore Reans WMC both had byes.

The Consolation Cup saw Otter and Vixen ‘A’ beat Bull and Pear and Partrdige lost their home tie against Village. Jones Road and Brewood British legion had a bye into the next round.

It’s as you were at the top of the Rowley Monday Night League as the top six teams all recorded wins. Leaders Crown had a massive 8-1 success away to Moon Under Water to put them on 36 points, while second in the table Springfield Social Club went one better to win 9-0 at Haden Cross, but they remain two points adrift of the Crown.

Ex Serviceman’s Club and Ivy Bush ‘Z’ are both on 30 points following their respective wins over Fairfield and Whiteheath Tavern, both matches finishing with a 5-4 result.

Making up the top six are Bell and Allens Sports Bar, who both have 26 points.

Bulls Head ‘A’ continue to dominate the Pip Club League, a 10-6 win at Sports Bar ‘180’ giving them a total of 45 points to keep them top of the overall table and the seeded division one table. The biggest battle currently is for the runners up spot where no fewer than three teams are on 39 points, Dolphin, Wilnecote Club and Birchmoor Club. Second in the table Dolphin won their home games against White Lion 11-5 and have a game in hand on not only their two nearest rivals, but also the leaders. Wilnecote Club handed out a 16-0 whitewash to their visitors Travellers who head the seeded division two table and making up the top four Birchmoor Club had a 13-3 home win over Royal Oak.

Despite their heavy defeat Travellers continue to hold on to the top spot in division two, still four points to the good on second placed Old Liberal Club, who lost 11-5 at home to division one opponents Belgrave Club.

This week produced maximums for four players, Colin Wyatt, Derek Hornett, Chris Forsyth and Gaz Sheldon.

With leaders Otter and Vixen having a bye in division one of the Wolverhampton and District Tuesday Night League, the three teams nearest to them in the table all took full advantage to reduce the arrears by winning. Second placed Victoria had a convincing 6-1 home against Railway to put them within two points of the leaders, while third in the table Riley’s ‘C’, who also played at home, were not far behind with a 5-2 win over Bradmore giving them 18 points, a further two points adrift. Ashmore Inn are fourth and they too have 18 points following their 6-1 home win over Bull.

In the second division only average separates the top two teams, Wednesfield Legion ‘A’ are top, their 5-2 win against Emerald giving them their 24 points. Chillington Club are second, they also won 5-2 at Castle.

Wednesfield Conservative Club are placed third, just two points behind the leading pair after a close 4-3 win at Riley’s ‘B’, who are fourth and a further four points adrift.

There was a rare win for Ukrainian Club this week as they won 4-3 playing away to Yale Club. The win lifts Ukrainian off the foot of the table to be replaced by King Charles, who lost 6-1 at Wolverhampton Sports Arena to leave them level on four points with Ukrainian but trailing on average.

The Riley’s Friday Individual League have got their season underway and the early pacesetters are William Naylor and Carl Betteridge, who have both got maximum points from their opening two games. Naylor is slightly ahead of Betteridge on average after beating John Burdett 5-3 and James Collins 5-0, while Betteridge had two 5-2 wins against Barry Stephens and Gary Taylor.

Close behind the leading duo and trailing by just one point are Luis Barberan, Paul Cummings and Steve Cain.
