After five straight victories, Warwickshire were unable to finish their season in the premier division of the BDO Inter County Championships with a win. Playing away against Kent only the ladies ‘B’ side were winners, the other three teams all lost.
After a 4-2 win by the ladies ‘B’, with Natalie Gilbert (19.68) taking the match award, the men’s ‘B’ went down 8-4, Carl Green (26.66) their top player.
The only highlight of Sunday’s games was the performance from Steve Hine, who beat Mark Pattison 4-2 and in the process recorded a tremendous 31.05 average. The ladies ‘A’ side suffered their biggest defeat of the campaign as they were handed a 6-0 whitewash.
Despite the 23-13 defeat Warwickshire were still able to hold on to a third place finish in the table, a superb effort wining six of their nine fixtures to give them a total of 183 points, 18 short of second placed Lancashire. Yorkshire finished as champions with a 240 points.
