West Midlands most recent fixture in division two of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships was a home tie against Northamptonshire the result was they chalked up their biggest win of the season so far a 25-11 success that saw them move one place up the promotion table to fourth.
In addition to their biggest win it was also the first time in this campaign that all four of the teams won. Both ladies teams won 4-2 with Gamma Barrett (17.48) taking the ‘B’ team’s award and Sarah Roberts made it seven consecutive match awards from the seven games played with a 20.88 average.
For the men Ian Jones was again in tremendous form for the ‘A’ side as he came from 2-0 and 3-1 down to Nigel Crane to win 4-3 with winning legs of 15, 11, 12 and 18 darts and an award winning 30.74 average. Nick Fullwell took the ‘B’ team’s award with his 25.91 average.
The win leaves West Midlands twelve points off top team Somerset, eleven behind second placed Cleveland and seven adrift of Derbyshire in third place.
